Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead (COS) absolutely rocks in-home care. They have provided in-home and in-facility care for my mother and sister, both of whom had/have multiple severe and chronic, medical and psychological issues, including dementia. The Home Instead caregivers are compassionate, skilled, and well-trained.
Honestly I had been despairing of being able to get real help with my family members' care, due to how demanding they can be. Home Instead has consistently placed terrific caregivers, and when there has been the tiniest issue, they've been immediately responsive.
My mother, who recently passed away, had around-the-clock, 24/7, care, so scheduling was demanding. But Home Instead worked with us to provide consistency with caregivers for all the shifts. That helped Mom form meaningful relationships with the caregivers, which was so lovely for her, and provided peace of mind for me.
My sister has Parkinson's disease and requires a lot of help with physical and mental issues. The Home Instead caregivers are so caring--she looks forward to their arrival every day. Yesterday she asked me if we could put on more shifts. The caregivers are on time, which is very important to my sister, and they leave notes in a notebook that is kept at the nurses desk.
They have been instrumental in making me aware of issues with the staff at the facility and in obtaining the best possible care for my sister.

Home Instead provided care for my parents in Colorado Springs. Their management and care staff were incredibly patient, understanding and professional. It was a difficult time for our family and Home Instead really helped us through! They not only provided care but also guidance. They were wonderful all around.

My wife enjoyed outstanding support from the care-givers and the office staff for almost a year. After her conditions progressed to the point that she needed memory care in an assisted living facility, Home Instead continued to provide supplemental support. The Colorado Springs Home Instead team adjusted schedules and arranged for care-giver availability to ensure that quality care was consistently provided. Their ability to work with the memory care facility to accommodate COVID restrictions maximized the care for my wife. Outstanding service.

Home Instead provides home health care for my wife who has advanced Parkinson's Disease. They started with day-time and added night time care at our request as conditions warranted. The staff has been outstanding. They arrive on-time, have specific tasks that are planned and accommodate additional care as my wife needs it. Their consistent professionalism, genuine empathy, and well trained capabilities have been a wonderful blessing for our family. The company's quality visits have identified areas to improve and those improvements have been efficiently implemented. Home Instead was easy to work with, reliable and made my mother more comfortable in her living situation. We were particularly happy with the relationship she was able to establish with her caregiver Sue. Home Instead has provided excellent care for our Mom for several years. Mom worked with us to develop a list of the help she wanted - from fixing meals to laundry to helping with the daily Word Jumble that she can no longer see. The list has grown over the years to include grocery shopping, getting trash to the curb, helping with medications when needed, help with dressing when needed... basically anything Mom needs help doing. The caregivers have all been kind, prompt, understanding, patient and helpful. Home Instead keeps us informed of any concerns they have with Mom's health and are wonderful about adding shifts as needed if Mom is going through a rough patch. They have accommodated every request we have made or Mom has made. Home Instead is the reason Mom can still live at home - where she wants to be. We think they are among Mom's guardian angels. She thinks so, too.

We have used Home Instead for both my Mom and currently my Dad. We have had amazing caregivers. Jeri and staff are willing to listen and help out with suggestions and support, whether it’s minor or major. My mom struggles with Alzheimer’s and at times was not the easiest person to assist. Each of her caregivers except one was a welcome help and showed such patience. My dad has one caregiver right now and she is amazing with him and is very efficient in getting his laundry done as well as taking the time to visit with him and letting me know things she notices. Highly recommend Home Instead!

We have used Home Instead for over six years. The care given to my parents has gone above and beyond my expectations. One of the caregivers, Mavis G., was with us for the entire time. I loved the continuity for my mom, who with her dementia could not tolerate change. Mavis became not only her caregiver but also her friend, and my friend as well. She was always willing to do all that needed to be done, but more importantly provide a safe, friendly environment for my mom. The companionship was just as important as the care! I highly recommend using Home Instead for anyone who needs care and companionship.

My 95yp mother lives south my husband and me. I was uncertain how she would do with a caregiver. She thinks she's totally independent and doesn't need any help when my husband and I need to go out of town. The Home Instead caregivers are amazing. They let her do what she can and then help with things she can't, like cooking. They're great companions, arrive on time, and give her all the attention she needs and deserves.

I have been nothing but incredibly impressed with Home Instead from the very first contact with the owner of the company, to the kindness, professionalism, and responsiveness of every member of her organization. My mom has had 3 caregivers and each one is incredible in her own way and they all bring something which is so well suited to my mom. And even better, they LOVE my mom, truly. My mom's dementia, in addition to a busy schedule of activities and appointments, often results in schedule changes, which are handled immediately and with understanding. Home Instead has enhanced my mom's life to a great extent and allowed her to remain at home longer. I think the name of the company says it all! Our neighbor strongly recommended Home Instead, saying they were great with her Mother.
Jerri the owner, personally talked to my family about my dad's needs and the problems we had with the other company we wanted to replace with Home Instead.
Jerri hand picked from her staff to meet my dad's cooking and companion needs and address our concerns.
Home Instead's hourly rate is very competitive.
Her staff is very dependable and arrives on time and really cares for dad.
They cook and clean and are focused on him.
Home Instead is very professional.
Their visits allowed Dad to stay in his home.
We would still be using them if Dad hadn't recently had a stroke and gone down hill, now needing a long term facility.

Staff is very responsive when changes in caregivers are requested. The caregivers have been so kind and sweet. The fact that caregivers must have their own transportation is very important to us as well. This provides added security so only the caregiver knows where the client lives. We've used Home Instead services for over three years.

We used Home Instead to help us care for my mom when she was at home in Hospice care. We needed someone to to be with my mom at night so we could get some rest. They sent us Olga. She is literally an angel here on earth! She was so kind, compassionate, caring, professional and genuine. She was only with us for two nights as my mom passed on the second night. Even in that short time she impressed my family to no end. I have no words to express my gratitude to her for the loving care she showed my mom in her last days. This is not the first time we have used Home Instead. They cared for my mom prior to this when she just needed some help getting around, rides to places etc. They have always been prompt, professional and compassionate. They provide such an important service and I am so grateful to them for that. Thank you Olga for helping when we needed it most and Jerry for sending her to us!! Can't say enough about her!

Unfortunately, we only needed Home Instead to care for my Dad for one month, but they did a great job. The owner, Jeri, was always professional, and we were very happy with the two providers who came during the week. They took good care of Dad and he liked them. We never had to worry about him while we were at work, which was a huge help during a stressful time for our family.

Homeinstead is a great company that assisted my Mom for many years. They assisted her in many ways. Someone came every friday to take her to her hairdresser.They did her laundry,changed her bed linens. She also had a cook twice a week which was good for Mom. It was also easy to set up a driver for doctor appts. Great company with her children living out of state. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs help...caring and very thoughtful employees.

Home instead stayed with me when m y daughter had to work after I broke my shoulder before my rehab program was complete. They helped me with personal hygiene, light housekeeping, meal prep, and companionship until my daughter came home from work so that I wasn't afraid to be home alone. The staff was always on time, friendly and caring. The agency is always easy to work with and it was simple to change schedules If I needed to because of my daughters work schedule or doctor appointments for myself.

My aging mother fell for about the fifth time and insisted on being back home to live her life. We engaged Home Instead and could not have been happier with the care they gave. They put together a daily schedule that included grocery shopping, meal preparation, house cleaning and taking her on errands. It gave all of my brothers and sisters the piece of mind we needed to know she was being well taken care of and living life the way she desired. Thanks Home Instead, we will be back. We are all getting older too.

Home Instead has really taken a lot of worry and pressure off of our family, who all live out of state. They ensure our parents make it to appointments, as well as helping them with shopping and doing things as independently as possible. The caregivers are wonderful, understanding, and reliable. Jerri and the Home Instead team of care providers were attentive, compassionate and responsive to my needs & concerns for my dad's overnight care. It is a great comfort to know I have their help if I need it again.

Everyone that was sent out to take care of Gerda did a fantastic job. When they were with her, they made sure that all of her needs were taken care of. I remember a time the night person was sick and couldn't come and Jerri (the owner) came out and stayed overnight with her. Everyone was compassionate and truly cared for Gerda.
This is a company I would highly recommend to anyone who has a loved one that needs assistance. Thank you Home Instead for making me feel so comfortable leaving Gerda when I couldn't be there!

I used Home Instead Senior Care. They were outstanding and exactly what I needed. I used them three times over the past two months. They provided transportation to and from the hospital following surgery and a pharmacy run. The caregivers are excellent. I’m not using them on a regular basis, but if you need someone to escort you home after surgery and make sure everything is all set up, they’re excellent for that.

Thank you to all of the caregivers and staff. Marion received excellent care. What I really liked was that each caregiver was able to meet her needs differently. She was just getting to know Sue but was grateful for her kind gentle care and liked her very much. She loved the way she's cleaned. She loved how Mary would do her fingernails for her. Each caregiver had a special thing; they did not just follow a care plan.

The owner Jerri quickly responded to our family needs and in one day had in place caregivers for my elderly mother. Very kind caring ladies visited with my mother in her final days. My hubby heard them laughing like young school girls one night. What a blessing for us.

Excellent! Terri was always quick to respond to questions, requests, and need for personal visits. Schedulers were very flexible and never made me feel I was too demanding or out of line, CNAs were almost uniformly capable, cooperative and compassionate.

Home Instead is fantastic. They’re keeping very good track of my mother-in-law and notifying us about issues that they see. I am very pleased that we have them in her home. They’re getting her meals, companionship, minor exercise, and light housework. I took the recommendation from somebody who’s already using them, and just from the care that I’ve seen extended to my mother-in-law, I would be more than happy to recommend them to others.

The company staff from president to caregiver was very professional and helpful. They were there for my mom and provided great care for her until I was able to pick her up and take her to an assisted living facility. I am VERY thankful for them - they were a Godsend!!!

We can't thank Home Instead enough for the quality care their caregivers gave to our mom. Not only did they become our friends, they became part of our family. Because of Home Instead our mom was able to stay in her home for over a year longer than anticipated.

We have Home Instead for my dad. They take him to the gym every day, clean up the house, talk to him, help him dress, and make him lunch. The caregivers follow directions and do what I've asked them to do. My dad seems to enjoy them. One of the things that we had to work on was a way for them to communicate with me about how my dad was doing each day, so we instituted a notebook system.

From the first phone call to do my shopping for a home health care service, Home Instead was very informative and caring. My husband and I gave Home Instead a high rating because:
1.The owner personally came to meet my mother so the caregiver assigned was compatible.
2. We have had two caregivers and whenever I have my mother in their care, I have never worried a minute.

I'm using Home Instead Senior Care for about three months now. They provided us a caregiver as well as a backup person, and that seems to be working well. They are assisting with my mother's meal preparation and shopping. We really don’t have any complaints at all. I would certainly recommend them.

The primary caregiver who worked with us deserves far more than five stars; she is remarkable. She was conscientious, caring and loving.
The drawback to this location--and the reason for four stars--is the scheduling. Even though we were long-term clients, the scheduler consistently moved people around on our schedule, thus creating inconsistency and confusion for my mother. When questioned about it, she was not receptive to suggestions.
Apart from that, our experience with Home Instead was very positive.

I needed immediate help over Christmas for my 94-year-old friend who had fallen & wasn’t doing well. Mary & Mandy doing well. Mary and Mandy got right on it did a wonderful job finding the staff to do the job. Everyone who helped my friend was so kind and caring and professional. I can’t thank them enough!!!

I highly recommend any other company "instead" of this company. I hired home instead for my grandparents for some basic care and one on one for an Alzheimer patient the CNAS that came to our home did not have Alzheimer knowledge that the owner had promised and were not reliable on set times and schedule. When speaking to owner she was unprofessional, showed no comparison and showed no humanity to my complaints. Company and owner clearly were all about the money would not recommend for your love ones.

This company is horrible I wouldn't reccomed them to anyone they promise things they can not provide not to mention the care for my loved one was horrible they left my grandmother sitting in urine for hours. One lady did no interaction with my grandmother she sat at the table and watch violent movies and shows that agitated my grandmother who has Alzheimer's.

I chose Home Instead because my husband wanted a male caregiver. It did not take long for them to provide the service, it's the insurance approval that took time. They provided bedding and grooming, washing and bathing him. He comes twice a week for about 6 weeks now. The caregiver was very pleasant, polite and respectful which is important. He is therefore a good match for my husband.
