About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

This agency has hired home care givers to come to our house to provide companionship for my loved one and to keep her safe. The staff persons I have met so far are very professional, they arrive on time, and they are truly caring people. They understand how hard this is for me to turn over my loved one to a stranger. They have been able to meet my scheduling needs and have accommodated changes easily. I have been very impressed with this organization overall.

I got Home Instead for my husband. It was OK. The caregivers were inadequate, but the scheduling was good. Somebody always showed up. We were looking for 12-hour shifts, and their availability appealed to me.

Always responsive to my husbands needs. Always a timely arrival. He is taken to the rec center twice a week for pool therapy and floor exercise.

My whole family appreciates the rapid, compassionate response from Home Instead when we recently needed fast assistance for our 90 year old mom. But I can’t say their response surprised me because we had the same great service for our dad 2 years ago. So glad to have these wonderful folks on our care team.

No matter the time of day, Home Instead can be reached. The caregivers for my Mom have been great and have helped our family to help Mom in the best way possible. The office staff is always willing to help with paperwork and anything else they can do to help our family.

I appreciate the willingness to work my schedule around the needs I have in my life. I don't feel it's an imposition when discussing these things with office staff. I always appreciate their cheerfulness even when things have been difficult to work out. It's not just nice to work with caring people. I need to feel caring hearts in order to put my heart into the work. I believe I have that with Home Instead.

Highly recommend Home Instead 5 + starsMy husband was diagnosed with cancer in March of 16. He passed away March 7th,2017. The staff worked hard to make sure we had a perfect match for my husband. Our permanent caregiver Helen is superb. She wore many hats the year she was with us. She made it possible for me to continue my job with piece of mind. There is not a better company then the Home Instead team to intrust care of your loved ones to.

We hired a short term agent who came in about nine times from a company called Home Instead. They were excellent, and it all worked out just fine. My husband had surgery, and while I ran out to do some exercise or get some groceries, there was someone here to stay with him. The person went just a handful of times, and my husband is much recovered now and we don't need more help. It was just a temporary thing. I felt the caregivers were very good. I thought the management was extremely good. I'd say our experience was very good.

My 90+ year old aunt and uncle have been using the services of Home Instead for the last 2 years. They need help with cooking, since my aunt has macular degeneration. Their care giver comes in on Sundays and prepares meals for the following week. She has recently started helping my aunt pay bills. (I keep an eye on this, and there have been NO "red flags.") When she's done with those items, she makes sure to spend time with my uncle, engaging him in conversation and giving him one-on-one attention. She also did research at the library (on her own time!) to find recipes to help manage my uncle's high blood pressure. When I have questions or need help, one call to the office is all that's needed to receive prompt and helpful advice. I highly recommend this company.

For over five years before my elderly mother entered skilled nursing, the wonderful staff of Home Instead have assisted in every way they could to match caregivers with our specified needs and personality. Some of those ladies became trusted friends whom we were sad to let go when the time came. The staff bends over backwards to adjust schedules and provide the exact level of care we requested. They dealt with increasing needs, including dementia and fragility with respect and loving care.
