We had an emergency situation and I was given a list of providers. Lake Forest the first ones on the list and so I called them. When my mom was in an emergency room, they had someone there waiting for us when we got her home. They provided round-the-clock care 7 days a week from that point forward for about a year and a half. She passed away 6 weeks ago.
They provided good care for my mom. She was difficult from the beginning and did not want caregivers. She was very challenging, unkind and she would push people away. She did not have dementia, she was just angry. They were able to provide a variety of people until we found someone she could tolerate. We actually found 2 people because we needed 24-hour care. So they worked hard with us to find people who would do well with mom and whom she could connect with. There were a number of good people along the way but we ended up with 2 people, Ruth and Eleanor, who were both fabulous. It was as stress free as something like that could be because I know those two would always show up. The other gal showed up too but I just didn't know if they could get along. It wasn't the caregivers, it was my mom who was the problem. I really took sometime for mom to mellow out and adjust to this new life with someone who is on her side 24 hours a day. The caregivers were very patient. When one would come and say that she can't do it anymore, they always have someone else that could come. At one point I even asked them if they will run out of people since there were so many people that came through as we were trying to find a good match for my mom.
They just took all the fear for my mom's security out of me. I was so worried that she would fall again and hurt herself. I have no problem with them. No complaints. They were wonderful.

I went with Lake Forest because my previous caregiver went from where he was to Lake Forest. He did it because he liked it better and the people were more friendly, easy to work with and pay better. He moved and I already had him for a year so I moved with him.
They've been really friendly and supportive. They're very quick to come out here if there's something we need to talk about. I really like their support, friendliness and their efficiency. I did not have any problems with the insurance company or billing or anything like that. If there's anything that they're supposed to do, they do it well. They seemed to keep their people and clients happy. I have been with them for a couple of years.
As for our caregiver, I had him for 3 years. He's probably the only caregiver we had through any company who really can handle my husband. My husband is very difficult to handle because of his condition but the caregiver is very good and very capable. He's friendly and he cares. He does extra things around the house when my husband is just sitting. He's got a good rhythm going here.
The problem with other caregiving companies is that they can't provide caregivers who can handle my husband. So when I need a fill in, Lake Forest can more easily find someone who can do the job. They have more people available.
