About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

The agency provided a male sitter who was pleasant but turned out to be wholly incompetent in an emergency and the agency told me that the caretaker would call the EMT if my spouse fell. Which he did. The caretaker DID NOT CALL the EMT and I was 10 minutes away and DID NOT CALL ME. My spouse suffered a cerebral bleed and was hospitalized for 6 days and it took months for most of the blood. to be absorbed. The Caretaker did not report to me the time it took place and the neurologist said it was a small bleed which bled for a long time ( at least two or more hours). You cannot entrust anyone you truly care for with this agency if you want to insure their safety and wellbeing. the caretaker failed to follow through on what I had been told would take place should such an emergency happen. Poor training and no communication. I never got the full information after the incident even thoughI requested. it more than once.

Home Instead—Culver City is a true partner to my mom and our family. Their pricing is reasonable and have been flexible in scheduling care hours and assistive tasks. The caregivers are professional, reliable, and friendly. And the office managers communicate well with us and helped us as we successfully applied for our long term care insurance claim. HIGHLY recommended!

The Home Instead_Culver City team make every effort to match the best suited caregiver based on the needs and personality of the client. They are available 24/7 everyday to manage any issues or needs that arise. Most issues handled promptly. The Quality and Safety Coordinator does periodic home visits or calls to make sure our loved one is safe and happy with the service and care. The caregivers are professional and very caring. My loved one says they are all Wonderful!

I am very relieved and impressed with Home Instead. The caregiver they provided for my mother is excellent with her care and very compassionate. I live in another state and unable to provide her with my care. Chazz is so very pleasant and exhibits concern for my mother and they were there for her when she was sent to the hospital. Home Instead has helped my Dad and me tremendously as we face a difficult time while his health is in decline. They've made it possible for me to fulfill his wish to stay home in the home he has loved for 50 years. I hired Home Instead in December, and they are very good. They help change my wife because she is incontinent and massage her arms and legs because she has stiffness. My wife seems very happy with them. She is doing well and hasn’t had any issues with the caretakers at all.

I could not have cared for my father during this period without such wonderful help because: 1. The service is very reliable. My assistant arrives when scheduled and if there is any delay, I always receive a call. 2. My care assistant is highly knowledgeable, very friendly, capable, and self-directed. 3. After a bad fall, I needed help and called Home Instead. I cannot say enough good things about them. The staff is friendly and dedicated. The woman they sent to help was sensitive, very helpful, punctual, and caring. She also keeps my home environment very clean and even gave me practical tips on how to manage once I was on my own. I would certainly recommend Home Instead to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and caring agency.

I needed someone to stay with me 24/7 for the first week following shoulder surgery. I had a caregiver arranged through another agency, but 3 days before surgery, the caregiver arrangement fell through. I called Home Instead in a panic and spoke with Diane. I called on a Thursday night and expected to get voicemail, but Diane answered the phone (they answer 24/7). She listened to my plea for last minute assistance and was able to provide 2 excellent caregivers. One of the caregivers did not have a car, and Eric (the other agency owner) picked her up on a Sunday and brought her to my house so I could meet and approve her before my surgery. Diane even came to my house on Sunday to have me sign the paperwork. Eric also brought the caregiver to my house on Monday so she would be there shortly after I got home from surgery. The caregiver needed to take 3 buses to get to my house, and Eric did not want her to be late. Both Diane and Eric went out of their way and above and beyond to help me. I highly recommend the Culver City office of Home Instead and will use them again if I need caregiver assistance in the future.
