About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead Senior Care in Covina was first on my list when I needed part-time care for my 86-year-old relative. They have cared for him for the last two years with ongoing consistency, care, kindness, and attention to detail. Rushika, her administrative staff, and care professionals have become a second family to him and bring joy each of the seven days a week that they are with him. The different levels of care available based on his level of need along with working with his schedule continue to be a definite plus since this varies due to dialysis at the hospital. Rushika and her staff are also experts in understanding the process necessary for Long Term Care claim requirements. I know I can count on them. Their commitment is a gift in providing quality of life for our loved one. Thank you, Rushika and Team!

We have been enjoying the care HomeInstead provides for my 87 year old mom for
over three years now. They have been amazingly consistent in the quality of the Care Professionals they provide, are completely reliable in scheduling, and always willing to give extra help when we need it. Alba, who cares for mom now, is amazing and so good with her. Rushika, Diana, Brenda, and all the staff in the office are easy to work with always. I fell and broke my arm and needed a full shoulder replacement. I needed help and my daughter found Home Instead. The ladies have been marvelous. I have been under their care since March, 2022. All the ladies and very nice, caring people. Always very helpful and taking special care to take care of my needs. I would definitely use Home Instead again if the occasion ever arose again.

I called Home Instead when I found myself in a situation where I was unable to care for my husband alone. My firsts encounter was with Genevieve, I found her to be kind, patient and sympathetic which was much needed. She made all of the arrangements seamless and quickly, this was amazing to me. Each visit with our caregiver was pleasant, she was very solicitous of what she could do to help us. Angie was very encouraging and most of all helpful with all of our requests. Compassion goes a long way when you’re in this situation, they both felt like family members.I would recommend this company to anyone in need.

We have been delighted with the post surgery care for my husband. Genevieve was very thorough in our first meeting, offering suggestions for care and taking time to get to know us. The caregivers have all been very thoughtful , cheerful, and knowledgeable. Diana has been able to accommodate our changing schedule. By far the most pleasant, friendly, helpful, and sympathetic group I have encountered. My Father was diagnosed with End Stage Colon cancer and was placed in Hospice. Unfortunately, there was no one in the family to take care of my father at home while I went to work. So I reached out to "Home Instead" who simplified my life: From the very first phone call with Genevieve, who was so kind and explained everything I needed to know, to the walk through with Rushika who further gave me details and what to expect, to the multiple care givers that helped assist my father's needs. "Home Instead" went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They were always a phone call away. I hope I never need a care giving service in the future, but if I did I would definitely call on "Home Instead." Thank you for your great service!

The Home Health Care Providers from Home Instead were caring, sensitive and kind. They provided my Mother excellent care for ten months. I was always confident my Mom was in good hands with the Providers from Home Instead. They always arrived on time and were fully attentive to Mom’s need. While we utilized their services, my Mom transitioned from needing companionship to full bed care. All Service Providers were outstanding and I recommend Home Instead without reservation.

I wanted to know that I was getting a caregiver that is qualified to take care of my husband in my rather brief absences. Are they dependable (yes!); can they cope in an emergency (there hasn't been one, but I am confident they would know what to do); will they bond with my husband (definitely); will I consistently get the same caregiver (yes, is nearly all instances).
My husband's caregiver Carol is an angel. She adores him, and the feeling is mutual. I adore her as well. She shares our values and has the same adorable sense of humor as my husband.

The Home Instead caregivers take excellent care of my mom. They take her to appointments, help her with errands and help her around the house. The office staff is excellent too - they are easy to communicate with and the caregivers are ALWAYS dependable and punctual. Their Covid-19 protocols meet CDC standards. My mom has been a client for 9 months now.

We needed help with care for my elderly parents, who while quite frail and forgetful were quite particular in who came into their house. Rashika at Home Instead spent time with them and then found caregivers that were a perfect fit for their personalities. My parents had particular schedule requests for specific days and times which somehow Home Instead was always able to accommodate. Angelia the caregiver was helpful, courteous and patient. She helped with personal care, shopping, cooking, cleaning, driving- anything my parents needed they found a way to make it happen. I can't recommend them highly enough!

HISC in Covina provides everything my dependent parents need to continue living at home. The caregivers are all very organized, attentive and professional, and the house is always clean and orderly. They genuinely care about both of my parents, and provide them with wonderful companionship. In addition, they are very knowledgeable about what to do when there is a crisis or an unusual situation. This has contributed to my parents' continuing stability and happiness at home, and our family feels so fortunate to have Home Instead's caregiving services.

My first encounter with Home Instead Senior Care was in 2013. I used the Pasadena Office back then. When I moved to a new city I began using the services from the West Covina office. The owner, office staff, and our caregiver were caring, diligent, and professional. My mother's caregiver was matched to our needs and I could not have been happier with her.

We needed help with my 85 year old mother in law, who has difficulty walking, due to osteoarthritis. We didn't want to leave her alone because she has a history of falling. We had Home Instead come in 5 hours a day to provide breakfast and lunch, help her bathe, exercise, and provide companionship.
Ruchika interviewed Mom to determine her needs/expectations. Then found two excellent caregivers that fit our criteria. Mom loved Patricia and Linda and enjoyed their time together, talking and playing Chinese checkers and dominos. Meals were prepared and my kitchen was left spotless. Her laundry was done weekly. The caregivers had perfect attendance which was very important to us.
Our interactions with the office and field staff were very professional. They checked with us periodically to ensure that we were satisfied with their services. We highly recommend Home Instead and will use them again when needed.

My mother had fallen and broken her ankle and after receiving her release to go home, we called homestead. They were very professional from the office and field staff. They made us feel very comfortable and expanded everything in detail. We would recommend Homestead to anyone. Thanks Steve Shaw

My mom came home from the hospital after 3 months and needed assist with everything and the care that the Home Instead caregivers provided has been excellent. Due to them my mom has made very fast improvements. My mom can be difficult and was resistant to having caregivers, but she loved them and really enjoyed their company along with their excellent care.
