About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Household chores - Cleaning dishes, moping floors, vacuum, change bedroom sheets, fix meals, and dust.
The caregivers arrived on time and the agency keeps us inform of updates to the schedule.

Home Instead has provided 24/7 care for one or both of my parents in their independent living apartment in a retirement community since August 2020. Every caregiver that has ever been sent to take care of Mother (and Daddy before he died), even the rare substitutes, seem really caring and competent! They arrive on time. They provide helpful feedback on changes they observe happening in their clients' conditions and suggest improvements when needed. They are not reluctant to try to do new things I ask them to do to help out. In recent months there have been almost no times that I have had to be the caregiver myself unexpectedly. The ladies in billing have also been very patient and helpful in working with our long term care insurance! I have no thoughts of changing providers!

From the initial in home review and quote process to having safe, secure and compassionate care givers arrive their process was calming, efficient and complete.
They make themselves available for questions & are knowledgeable of other programs and even help with equipment needs.
They are a well run team of caring individuals and will go the extra mile while taking care of their clients/patience.

Home Instead has taken a huge burden off my plate since both my parents moved in with me unexpectedly 3 months ago. The scheduling staff has made sure I had sitters to cover all shifts needed, even if the office staff had to come out, and the care givers they've matched my parents with have all been kind, caring, and compassionate.

Had to tell the workers EVERY time one came out what needed to be done. Sometimes they would ask my mother who has dementia instead of referring to the plan which was not accurate so Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I would have to tell the Caregiver what was expected because it was not accurately written down nor did most of the Caregivers follow it. There was only ONE who competently did her work. There seemed to always an issue. Never had consistency.

My mother is very pleased with her caregiver's care. She is very insightful to my mother's needs and very caring. She is professional yet personable. Having someone come to our home once a week has given me the break I need from daily caregiving. This service is very afforadable for a medium to low income client.

Home Instead was the perfect solution to assist my mother as her Alzheimer’s symptoms have progressed. They were able to get us on board and assign her a caregiver within 24 hours of my initial call. My mother benefited from well-trained, trustworthy staff, and their commitment to her quality of life was evident from the start. They assisted her with everyday activities in a caring, compassionate manner. I could not have been more pleased with the caregivers themselves or with the agency overall. Thanks to Home Instead for helping her and me when we needed it the most.

We are very satisfied with the quality of care and personnel and would not hesitate to recommend them. My 94 year old mother enjoys the company, the shopping, help with housework that is provided and is very pleased. The caregiver arrives on time and takes care do do whatever she can to help my mother. The agency has been very responsive and contacts me regularly.

The care givers are always prompt arriving on time, and their attentiveness and compassion is genuine. My Father has been using Home instead for about 6 years now and our whole family has been very disappointed with the company. out of all those years he has had one care giver that was wonderful., but sadly (for us) she moved on to a better paying job. Since then he has had a variety of care givers, Some just don't show up for work, some cook, some don't, my Dad has a nice SUV and one girl refused to drive it, he had to ride in her car, that was full of junk. My dad is a perfectionist and has been all his life, he is 91 now and deserves it to be his way.

I attend workshops for CEU's. Topic subjects are very helpful and Julie Smith and her associates are courteous and helpful to their patient. My sister-in-law was a cancer patient and the Home Instead caretakers were very caring, professional and kind and helped my sister-in-law maintained dignity.
