First off my Uncle's case manger,Jamie, is very rude. She is clearly just trying to get more money out of us so she is suggesting things that are unnecessary. My Uncle is clear headed, coherent, and knows what he is saying. He is fine. He doesn't work. He is home all day. We are able to go out and do errands for him. It's not like he is comatose. So we disagree with everything she was suggesting because bottom line he does not need it plus you are asking to drop our whole life, and get snarky when we don't feel comfortable doing it. We can't just drop everything and for something that you are just exaggerating because, again, money. Sorry, Jamie, nice try. She didn't like our answer so she is now threatening us saying she is going to send out protective services to check on him everyday. You are clearly trying to get more money from us through this devastating time and I think it is gross that all you guys think about is how to get more money. Where are the people who actually care?? Who actually knows what's best?? Who can understand how hard it is to make these decisions and then on top of that threatening us because we refuse to help give you a bigger pay day?? Also the nurses there are just as rude. Everytime my Mom would call all she got was nothing but attitude. They get angry at my Mom when she would ask them to repeat what they were saying because she didn't understand them at first, plus my Mom is very hard of hearing. My Uncle is complaining of mistreatment from the nurses and staff members. From what I have gather in these past couple of weeks of my Uncle being there, Deer Meadows is a hot mess. I pray to God that there is some decent staff members because the people we have dealt with nasty, nasty, nasty, nasty people. Don't ever mess with my family. Don't ever talk to my Mom like she's a little kid. How dare you. If unfortunately my Uncle will need extra help again and they suggest Deer meadows we will say no. We refuse to send him or recommend Deer Meadows. Get your ish together!!!!

My sister is currently at Deer Meadows Retirement Community in Philadelphia. We're hoping she passes through physical therapy and goes to assisted living. We've been disappointed. She hasn't made much progress with physical therapy and trying to get basic things done just hasn't gone very well. There were outstanding issues that I only finally know after a few months. The individual staff members that I've talked to seemed to want to help, but with the overall current situation, maybe the COVID causing extra responsibilities, they're shorthanded. My sister would ask for help and there was nobody there to attend to her needs. I was able to visit this place before my sister moved in, but I was focused more on the assisted living aspect at that time. She's currently in skilled nursing. It's probably a fair size room, but it's very crowded when you're in a 36 inch wide wheelchair and my sister has difficulty navigating. She's unhappy with the food, some of it comes in cold. She hasn't been satisfied with the food. They could improve on communication, part of it is communication issues, and certainly responsiveness to the needs of my sister. I suggested when she's new to Pennsylvania, that the doctor evaluate her completely to try and come up with a care plan to improve her health. That request just went to deaf ears; it's not making progress. If they had responded to that my sister might be in a better place. I can't say that I can look at my sister's condition and solve it, but they might be able to improve it. They're currently there taking a maintenance approach, maintaining at where she is, and it doesn't seem like they're making attempts to improve her situation. That's the way it feels. It doesn't mean that's the way it is, but that's the way it feels.

I'm at Deer Meadows Retirement Community, and I hate it here. Today, I have a good nurse and a good aide, but most of the time, especially over the weekend, they treat us like second-hand citizens. Over the weekend, the staff is lousy. We have to wait for our medications, and we don't know who's on. I understand that they have to start from the beginning, which is 100, and I'm at 115. The food is awful. I have a sink in my bedroom instead of having it in the bathroom. I'm getting out of here as soon as my physical therapy is finished. They could improve on the food, but I had a good breakfast this morning. The staff during the week is OK, but on the weekend, they're not. I feel like an inmate in here instead of a resident. They tell us what to do all the time. One nurse said I have to go to bed at a certain time, and I'm a night person. I feel like I'm wasting my money. The only thing good to me about this place is one could go out and smoke anytime they want. All the other places, you can only go five times a day.
