Frederick Living was very nice. They had apartments and cottages. They had whatever you wanted if you had the money to pay for it. It was a continuing care community, which meant once you went there you could go further if you needed more personal care. The staff seemed friendly. The food looked good. The residents seemed happy.

There was nothing not to like about Frederick Living. I would wish or imagine a few more activities because there aren’t enough activities there for my needs. What was available there was not as wide ranging as I would like. Buy-ins can be half a million dollars. The accommodations there are superior in terms of the variety that’s available. I am particularly interested in being able to see and participate in cultural events like museums, theater, ballet, opera, and music. The primary thing that Frederick Living does not have is access to any other areas. It is totally rural, and if you want to get anything that’s cultural, you have to travel. That’s the primary limitation there. Otherwise, it seemed perfectly fine.

Frederick Living is a nice building for one thing. When you go in, it's not depressing. The rooms are small but as it was explained to us, they were originally single rooms and they made them double rooms. The staff is very caring and it seems like there is a good ratio of nursing staff to patients. My father needs 24-hour care. They take excellent care; my father is very well cared for. They're very nice and they're very aware. If there is something that the patient wants or needs, they try to accommodate them for us. They want people to come out of the rooms. It always seems like there's stuff that's going on. Musical entertainment will come in sometime; there was opera at the holidays. The different schools come and perform. There were Christmas programs. They just had a car show up there; they do cooking. There's a guy up there who has model trains for people who like that sort of thing. They have a priest come up from St. Mary's who will say mass. There were Easter baskets to all the Catholic residents.
