The facility that I ended up finding is Washington Odd Fellows Home for my mom. All are excellent, and we are extremely pleased. The rooms are nice, and they exceed the need. The food is good. The dining room is nice. They have a lot of activities like bingo. They have tours and shopping excursions. So far, she likes it a lot. The staff is extremely helpful, and I know having my mom in there is a good move.

Washington Odd Fellows Home was nice. It was an older facility. I was in the military, and it kind of reminds me of barracks. It was more like a hospital than a place to live. It was OK, the people were nice, and it was clean. They had activities listed. I was not very impressed with it. It did not seem like a place that you would like to live in and call home.

Unfortunately, I found the home to be very depressing and scary at times. There was one time when I was walking down the hallway after visiting my adopted grandparent, and a lady with her door open was shouting, "Help, help!" So I went in her room since no one else was around, and she kept asking me if I knew her son and if I could call him for her. I said I didn't know and asked if she could try calling him herself, if she knew his number. She got a little frustrated with me since she clearly was desperate to hear from her son. I went out into the hallway and found a nurse and told her about the situation. She said, "Oh, she does this every day." Other than that, I had a generally positive experience visiting this facility. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and there was a movie-watching room, a craft room, a newly remodeled salon, and various wings of the building. One was an Alzheimer's section, and one was basically everyone else. They are nice brick buildings with a pretty garden out front and in between each building. It is generally a pleasant environment, minus the fact that most people are dying and unhappy to be there.
