My aunt is at the La Conner Retirement Inn. We chose it because it's five minutes from where I live. It's a fantastic place, way nicer than where she was at. For the same price, she's got her own studio apartment, refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. All her attendants are so kind, and they just treat her with a lot of kindness, love, and respect. She's much happier up here and I can go see her every day. They truly care and love their patients. She doesn't like to eat a lot, but they really cater to what she wants. If she doesn't like the menu, they will make sure she gets something else that she likes for that day. She can choose what she gets. They play games that will help keep them active. In the activity room, they were in chairs and they had a huge ball, and they were bouncing it to one another. There's a lot of things that they can do together. They have cribbage, all sorts of games and puzzles. There are always activities going on for them. They even have a beauty salon.

The management staff at La Conner Retirement Inn welcomed my mother before, during, and after her move to La Conner last month. I am grateful especially to the community relations director, Gisele, for her kindness and attention to both my mother and to my siblings and me as our mother transitioned from living on her own to independent living at LCRI. My mother is settling in and beginning to take advantage of the services and amenities at the facility. My siblings and I are happy that our mother is in a safe and suportive environment in such a beautiful place.

I highly recommend La Conner Retirement Inn. My parents moved to La Conner Retirement Inn one year ago as my father's health was failing and taking care of him and their house was becoming too much work for my mom, and living closer to me and to medical services became important. Since day one I have been very impressed with this facility and their staff. The staff provided great support and advice about the process of moving, preparing us on what to expect and how to make the transition as easy as possible. The staff always greets you warmly with a sense of truly caring. They do a great job of encouraging residents to remain as active and engaged as possible, providing many opportunities and activities. The facility is outstanding. Always very clean and nicely decorated. Much more like a fancy senior apartment setting rather than an assisted living institutional setting. They do offer varying levels of assisted living as needed and always providing that care in a kind, respectful and compassionate way. My father ended up passing away a few months after moving, but my mother continues to thrive living in this setting. She regularly strolls around the town of La Conner and the waterfront boardwalk with her rolling walker, and she enjoys taking advantage of the multitude of activities at the Inn and their many planned outings. I couldn't be more happy for her! The only area of improvement I could recommend is the food. In general the food is good, and I'm sure it would be difficult to meet varying dietary requirements for all of the residents, but there doesn't seem to be many options at each meal to provide alternates for individuals with varying needs or tastes. This is a very minor complaint though, just a little area to work on. Again though, this is an absolutely wonderful facility with outstanding staff and I highly recommend it. Thanks for reading.

My sister and I moved our cousin to the La Conner Retirement Inn 1 year ago and we couldn't be happier! Right from day one, most all of the staff greeted us by our first names every time they saw any of us. Many different activities are offered every day that are suitable for all different interests and abilities and the staff are really good about encouraging the residents to participate. The on site beauty shop has been a real bonus as are the weekly "free" manicures.'"Spa Day" they call it. We like the small size of this facility and our overall impression is that it is very well staffed and managed and we feel really lucky to have such a great place so close to home.

I liked La Conner Retirement Inn because it was smaller. It was very congenial. We had lunch there, and the food was quite good. I liked the way the market team and the other staff seemed to respond to the people in the hallways. I liked that they didn't have a set time to eat. You could go within the 2 hour period of time. It was more like a little restaurant. They had one entrance, and I thought they had 60 rooms. It was three stories high. They a room where they had some kind of craft, but I don't know what they were, and I thought they had card game. They had a baby piano, and I knew that people played the piano maybe once a week or so. It was out in the country, so they would have a bus or shuttle tour out into the country area on Sundays. From what I saw, I don't really think I had anything to say that needed to improve on because it was the only one that I saw that I really liked. You had service in your room, and you weren't separated out. Both assisted and independent living were in the same place, taking part of everything in the same way. It wasn't segregated. If I needed that type of service or a placement, that's the one I would choose.

La Conner is very neat, and it’s kind of cozy. It doesn’t have a smell like a nursing home has. It’s clean, and the people running it are very friendly. It’s assisted and independent living. The room is very nice and cozy, but the only strange thing is that they’ve included a stove. People are not allowed to cook; all the meals are provided. I just had one meal there, and it was excellent. The dining area was nice. It’s right in La Conner, so residents can walk to stores and restaurants.

La Conner Retirement Inn was a nice place. However, the room was not quite as nice and the hallway was not that wide and it was a bit expensive. But it had a lot of good things too and La Conner is a tourist city. I liked it.

We are so grateful for the care that was provided for my grandmother at La Conner Retirement Inn. The staff is especially attentive to its residents, very caring, and skilled at their jobs. My grandmother enjoyed the friendships she was able to establish with both staff and residents while she lived there. When I visited her, the staff knew my family and me by name and greeted us warmly. My grandmother enjoyed the activities put on by the facility, such as card games or weekly pedicures. The meals cooked on site are delivered to the residents in the dining room by waiters and waitresses. My grandmother had a kitchenette in which she could make her own meals if she so desired. The assistance she was given by La Conner Retirement Inn was just enough so that she was still able to live as independently as possible. We could not be happier with her care there and we are so grateful that she spent the last years of her life in such good hands.

The sales and marketing staff at this facility was excellent...they talked of many of the features and activities that made this facility positive for the residents. Unfortunately, the promises they made to our family were unfounded. Activities shown on the weekly calendar were not consistently available. I know of residents who dressed up and arrived on time for an activity they had been looking forward to for days that had been cancelled. The food was typical food service quality although local foods were readily available. I don't fault any of the "front line" employees for the care given here, but I do believe that the management is focused on cash in their pockets rather than quality care for the residents. The facility puts on a clean and classy look, but really does not cater to the needs of the people who are living there. It seems that individuals confine themselves to their rooms and are not encouraged or supported to participate with each other in shared activities. Most of the time, the "public" areas are empty, and unless there is a receptionist at the desk, no other employees are readily accessible to the residents. I'm sorry that our loved one had such a poor experience here, especially after being told of so many attributes that simply were not true.
