I toured the assisted living of Spring Hills Mount Vernon. It was set up differently. They had the chef come out and talk to me. The chef had food and fed me, and it was good. The exercise people were there too with all kinds of things going on. They showed me what was happening there. I think they had beauty and a barbershop, too.
It was just expensive. The person who gave the tour was very nice. My family was with me and they said it looked really nice. It was more updated and bigger than the other ones we've seen. I felt good about that place. I went to apply and get my funds and stuff going but I didn't have enough money because they kicked up the price. The pricing wasn't good. If these places would come down a little, they'd be more affordable for a lot more people.

Negligent care of my mom which prompted us to find another facility asap. Bare-bones and mostly rude staff. Poor communication from facility to family. Food not appealing. Overall just a poor experience, which was too bad since it seemed to start off so well! Lots of options out there in northern Virginia! Just sayin’

This place deserves 0 stars and it pains me to even give 1 star. I decided to move my mother into this place and this was the biggest mistake I made. They are understaffed and the residents are left to fend for themselves. I’ve found people slumped over dead asleep in the wheelchairs left in the hallways. The smell of feces fills all the floors and rooms as you walk by them. My mother was rarely bathed and when I’d go there Id bath her myself. They didn’t take care of changing her and did not disclose the fact she had open sores on her rear end that made it painful for her to sit . The management kept promising they’d look into the staffing nurses and things would be taken care of but that was all a lie. Look elsewhere for your Mom/Dad , this place is horrible.

I toured Spring Hills Mount Vernon for my dad. It was very nice there. It's excellent in accommodating seniors. Activities were going on. They were doing some type of Mexican dessert. I didn't get to go into their session, but they were sitting around doing some type of meditation group, I'm not sure. But I saw the seniors laughing and interacting with each other.
The rooms were very spacious. They were very nice and had just enough space for one person. I loved the layout. I liked the country kitchen, and I liked the sitting areas for the seniors. They have a lot of amenities there for them in the room. I also liked the way that the tubs have a bench built-in.
The dining area was very handicap accessible. The lighting was nice, and I liked the seating and the menus. I liked that they have open lunch and dinner, meaning your relatives and loved ones can go down at any time between 11 and six and do their dinner and or lunch.
I haven't spent the night there and I don't know what it's like after hours or when the executives are gone. But from what I've seen during business hours, I give it a four.

My mother has moved into Spring Hills Mount Vernon. It is clean and nice. The people are very attentive and helpful. The rooms are very nice, and they are private rooms. She got a very nice room. There is a nice selection in the menu. I spoke with her today and she is extremely happy with the food. They have social activities, they have the restaurant, they have physical therapy, and occupational therapy, they have gardening, and they have a number of activities. I saw a couple of social activities. The price is reasonable. The staff is outstanding as far as the salesperson in arranging and facilitating my mother from the rehab to the assisted living facility. They went far beyond expectation. I can't say enough about the salesperson, the medical staff, and the nurses. I met the doctor over the phone, and she's very happy.

We liked Spring Hills Mount Vernon. The food was very good, we had lunch there, and they have a menu just like a restaurant where you have many choices. You go in, you sit down, and you select from the menu. The staff came in, sat with us while we were having our lunch, they talked very friendly, they told us their job, their responsibilities, and while touring they would introduce the other staff members we bumped into, and what they could do to help my aunt and uncle. It's an older facility, but it doesn't mean that it's bad, and the reason why we did not pick Mount Vernon was they did not have two-bedrooms, two-baths, and the cost.

My brother seems to be fitting in very well at Spring Hills Mount Vernon. At first, he was baffled, but now he is fitting in and he seems to be very happy. I haven't had any problems with the staff members. They are very nice. The gentleman that helped us get in was really nice. We are happy with my brother's room. The food is good. They have a variety of them. You get a menu and you can pick what you want to eat. They have table bowling and bingo. The one day that I was there they had music people come in to play music. They also have root beer float parties. It is a nice place.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon was a very nice place, the food was delicious, and the people were courteous. It was very impressive, and I had lunch there. I liked the activities, the food, and lodgings. They had exercises, walking, and rides to places like Walmart and museums.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon was clean and seemed well-organized. The woman who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. The residents were engaged and doing activities. It seemed like a perfectly fine place. The dining area looked clean and organized. Everybody seemed to be enjoying the food.

The location of Spring Hills Mount Vernon was very good. It was off a major highway, easy to get to, and in a residential area. It was a quiet place, but it wasnt as clean as I hoped it would be. It's not really dirty, but it was an older place. The staff appeared very engaged with the residents but there were a lot of residents just sitting in wheelchairs, asleep. I noticed some residents playing checkers and chess, and some were reading in the common area.

I visited Spring Hills Mount Vernon. The food was fair, and the dining area was fine. They had transportation. The rooms were small, but the price was reasonable.

Spring Hills was a beautiful, clean facility with all kinds of activities available. The only reason that I didn’t select that one is because it’s too far away.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon was a very nice facility. However, the rooms would not have been to my cousin's liking. It was too far away from where she currently lived, and it was in a congested area. Visiting her would have been pretty much out of our way. She would have been much isolated there from her existing friends.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon was very nice but too expensive. You get a lot of amenities, but they charge you a lot, and I don’t want to spend all my money. The facility and the rooms were both spacious and clean. There were many planned activities there so did not have to leave the premises. They had a common area, a movie room, and a place where a man could do shop work. They had a barber, a library, and even TV production where they produce their own TV programs. It was very nice, but it was too pricey for me.

We thought Spring Hills was beautiful, and that’s where I really wanted Henry to go, but he got scared about that; it was too big for my brother. It was just so nice, clean, pretty, and shiny. I really liked that a lot. The rooms were spacious, and the setup of the whole home was just beautiful. I thought the people were very helpful and competent.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon was a nice place, and it seemed to have good care. I thought they had independent living option, but they don't. It was attractive for an assisted living place, and the staff seemed caring. It is located in a busy neighborhood with shopping places nearby.

We toured Spring Hills Mount Vernon, and the place was beautiful, but we are just not sure if they can afford it. There is nothing bad I can say about the place. It’s absolutely perfect for my sister and her husband.

We are happy with Spring Hills Mount Vernon, but it was just too expensive. I have no problem with this facility. The rooms were nice. The whole place is very nice. They were always very attentive whenever I am there. They always make an effort to be friendly to the visitors, and the residents. The dining area, and the food were fine. The only thing I could say with their memory care is they could not take care of my mom the way that she needed to be taken care of at the price that we could afford.

Spring Hills is clean, the workers are outstanding, and not only loving and caring for my wife, but they’re also concerned with my emotional state of mind. They’re magnificent. The food was very good in the assisted living section.

I wanted to write about Spring Hills in Alexandria, VA where with the help of Howard Landron from caring.com I was able the find a perfect fit for my mother. The facility from the very start was full of a staff that made me feel that it was the right new home for my mother. I have to admit, however, that if not for the help of Howard Landron, I would not have been able to make that move with any confidence. From the very start Howard was informative, caring, and reassuringly confident in a way that eased the stress of the decision making process. He was truly a godsend throughout the extremely stressful process.

The process to send a close loved one to assisted living is always a difficult one, but the transition was made pleasant by the wonderful staff at Spring Hill Mount Vernon. The staff was amazingly transparent with the whole process and provided us with plenty of information. The tour of the building was spectacular. I have never been in such a facility that felt so homey and clean. We were able to look inside some of the rooms to get a feel for it and they were so well maintained and decorated. Each unit was a mini apartment. We got to see the activities that were provided for the residents along with the meal plan, and it made choosing this place so easy and stress free. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my mother in the care of this place and would recommend it to others without a doubt.

I toured this community earlier and was really impressed by the staff. Everyone is very Kind, friendly and respectful. I felt like I was right at home with the facility being clean and the food being healthy and delicious. My grandpa will be moving in, in the next couple weeks. Couldn't be happier about the decision

The staff was very friendly which was a relief because other places were lacking in this department. We even got to eat there during lunch time and it was amazing to see that the food quality was superior to even what i make at home myself. The place was clean, brightly lit and seemed to have gone through new renovations. Keep up the good work!

At Spring Hills, residents were in wheelchairs and not talking, and I am not ready for that kind of community at all. We couldn't really interact with any of the residents; there were just a few at the tables finishing up their breakfasts, and they were all in wheelchairs. It was very clean. I only met the administrator, and he was very nice, gave us a great tour, and was just terrific. I am just not at that point yet.

My friend moved into Spring Hills 3 months ago, and he really loves it there. He was at another place for about a year, and seemed to be in a spiral decline there, but at Spring Hills he has really perked up. He loves the food and the great selection of food too. The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents and the care show that. He enjoys The outings and social activities.

I have been a resident here for 3 years. The apartments are roomy and comfortable and the food is top notch. I can't drive any more and like that the facility can provide transportation to nearby medical appointments. The staff are caring and try hard to make the residents' experiences good ones. They have lots of activities for those who want to participate.

I moved my Father into Spring Hill Mount Vernon several months ago. The staff is wonderful. They take great care of him, are very friendly, and truly care about his wellbeing. The facilities and activities are great as well and he loves the food (especially the French Fries). I couldn’t ask for better place for him.

The staff at Spring Hills of Mount Vernon are very nice and very helpful. The rooms are tiny. They have fewer residents, and they seem to have a few more activities going on. It seems to be a newer facility.

I have moved my mother into this facility several months ago. The staff is really caring and attends to her every need. She loves the menu, which is very extensive comparing to other communities and enjoys the activities. Both the nursing and administrative staff are very responsive and eager to help. It has been a very smooth transition largely due to the helpfullnes of the staff. My mother was very anxious about moving to assisted living but the people there were waem and inviting and the personal concierge really ensured mom is happy and active. Thank you Spring Hills. Way to go.

My brother moved here after a 4 month stay in a dreadful place in Stephens City (near Winchester). He is fairly independent, so he doesn't need a lot of care, so I can't comment on the level of care provided by the CNAs. However, from what I've seen, it is good. (Certainly I haven't heard anyone be mean!) Spring Hills is way, way better than my brother's former residence. He likes the fact that you can order from a menu, order as much as you like, and order sodas if you want. He also likes the fact that the food is served for several hours at a time rather than having to sit down to eat "supper" exactly at 5 every night as before. (Food was poor at other place - for example, supper consisted of a sandwich and soup, plus lemonade and dessert.) The staff seems great, his studio apartment is small but comfortable, and there are activities for him, although as a fairly young man, many don't appeal much to him. The community counselor takes him out to lunch every month or two, and the shuttle takes him to medical appointments. I didn't think we could afford Spring Hills, but the community counselor was terrific and worked with us so that we could. They involve me in formulating a care plan, which I like, and keep me informed of anything I should know. I feel that I can call them whenever necessary, and that I will get a response. Overall, I would rate this facility somewhere between a 4 and 5, although it is only the second assisted living facility I've visited, so I don't have a lot of experience with them (luckily!)
