I have lived at Culpepper Garden Assisted Living for some time and like it very much. The apartments are sunny and comfortable and the staff are wonderful. I like having my own apartment and eating meals with other residents and going to activities. It is a good environment to live in.

The apartments are user friendly, accommodating most physical challenges with handrails in the bathrooms, emergency pull cords in the bedroom and bathroom.
The staff are friendly, kind, and helpful.
For someone who lived alone for many years, I had to adjust to the frequency of staff entering my apartment,,,,,out of necessity. However, this was my issue.
There is excellent oversight by our Administrator who, I want to mention, isn't afraid to jump in and help with staff duties if shorthanded or, just because.
Also excellent are our Director of Nursing, Serice Coordinator, and Activities Director.
And, we have a chef who is willing to listen to the residents' wants and tries to be flexible.
The residents have daily access to various activities or entertainment. Birthdays are acknowledged; as well as main holidays.
Lastly, there is a residents' meeting the last Wednesday of every month where everyone has a chance to voice concerns, needs or suggestions to the Administrator or Chef or directors after they have given any reports they may have.

My Mother moved up to VA from TN about 4 years ago due to her Parkinson's Disease. At first, she was sad to miss her family and neighbors... but, in no time Mom met wonderful new friends and was excited about the wide array of fun and interesting activities provided every day at Culpepper. She particularly enjoyed the young children's groups who came to sing and other musical events. I was impressed by the kindness and competence of the staff and their many services. Sometimes I just drop by to enjoy the great movies and the parties and, I always like to chat with folks there. Culpepper Garden is a clean, kind and unpretentious home for my Mom and I'm so grateful she's there.

My Mother is in the Assisted Living building at Culpepper Garden. The staff is very caring, especially as my Mother's health is declining. Mary Van Wie, the director, keeps me informed on my Mother and any health concerns. It has been comforting to our family to know that our Mother is in a place that truly is concerned for her.

My aunt is in Culpepper Garden. They take pretty good care of her. I had a problem recently over a plug-in in her room which was not functioning properly and I let them know about it and it got corrected. They have church functions and various things. They have activities and you see even them advertised on the elevator. She complains about the food because she gets a lot of pasta, but she's eating very well. They make sure to fill their coffee or tea cups and they wait on them very nicely. Everybody seems to enjoy the food. The staff seems to be caring and the place looks clean.

We have my mom at Culpepper Garden and love it. The staff is wonderful, caring, and makes her feel very welcome. The place is immaculately clean and nice.

I’ve had my relative placed at Culpepper Garden. It was an old hospital where they converted all the rooms into efficiencies and a couple of 2-bedrooms. The inside lobby is big and nicely done. There are plenty of activities for them to do. There were more than a few areas for them to congregate and enjoy watching TV together. There is a little setting outside that’s like a little bench area. They have a few clients so far. The staff has been helpful and nice.
