Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge is a very nice community. It's a little more remote. It offered a reasonable price for the size of the units that they have. The rooms were smaller, but they were attractive. I saw that the people were very fine and the woman who gave us the tour spent a lot of time with us. We even met one of the residents who invited us over to her place and the residents are very friendly. We had lunch and the food was excellent.

Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge is a relaxed yet beautiful facility, tastefully decorated but with physical aids for aging adults. It has clear, sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, and stunning sunsets to be viewed from it's upper level apartments. Its meeting rooms on the first floor are top notch with all the latest technology to make it easy for residents and visitors to put on excellent presentations. Some ground floor apartments have doors leading out to their own gardens, and staff is available to help those interested in exotic plants to plant and care for them as needed. There are definitely four seasons in Charlottesville, but most year they are mild. Spring and fall are especially beautiful. Westminster Canterbury is not too far away from the University of Virginia and its Miller Center, where top leaders and authors speak to topics that affect democracy, government and the world. Many of the residents are active in sports, and take advantage of lifelong learning programs offered through the university.

I have been consistently impressed with this facility. They offer tiered levels of care and my grandparents started in an apartment with minimal care, but as they aged and their health deteriorated, were transferred to an assisted-living situation with a higher level of supervision. The facility also offers a health care unit that provides even more extensive care, which has been especially helpful as a temporary stop when returning to WCBR following a short hospital stay. The staff at WCBR are dependably friendly, helpful, and genuinely care for the residents they serve. The facility is kept extremely clean and is well-decorated and inviting. Certain common areas often showcase the art or collections of residents. The activity calendar is tailored to residents of varied abilities and interests, and the facility provides numerous options for transportation off-grounds, helping residents get to doctor appointments, the grocery store, and community events. The dining is excellent: choices are seasonal, wide-ranging, and easily accommodate special dietary needs.Overall, this facility has exceeded the expectations of my grandparents and their friends and fellow residents. It is comforting as a family member to know that they are safe in a place where their well-being and happiness are top priorities.
