Pinecrest Retirement Community was very good. I liked it, but the price was a little bit higher than where my mother currently is. They had outings in the independent living. In the assisted living part they had activities right there in the building. I'm pleased with it.

Pinecrest was excellent, the rooms were clean, modern, and they were remodeling some of them. They have an ice cream parlor, popcorn machine, and they have a larger activity room which was very spacious. The hallway throughout was clean and modern. The staff member was friendly and went out of her way to help me with the pricing. They also had a formal dining area.

We chose Pinecrest because it's more private. There are more nurses, more aides, and there are a lot more amenities. I liked the fact that because of the number of nurses, you would get attention quicker. They have a nursing home, they have independent living, and they have houses. They have everything there. They have a small store, an exercise center, a parlor, a lot of living space outside, driving to other places, and a bistro.

I have had several members of my family in nursing home facilities and none of them have been as caring and truly committed to patients as Pinecrest Retirement Community Assisted Living. My grandmother's room was almost better than my apartment! It was fairly spacious and had a little kitchen. The view isn't the greatest, but this is city living! They have activities for the residents to participate in, sometimes some highly competitive tournaments, and occasionally the students from the local high school drop by to give a performance and talk with the residents. The caregivers know what they are doing from their medical know-how to their emotional bonds they make with residents. Our main caregiver was Cathy, and she would always come in a little earlier to help my grandmother make her coffee in the morning. Not ever caregiver goes that small but meaningful extra mile, but there are several who show that same level of dedication to residents. My grandmother made friends that lasted her the rest of her life at Pinecrest and my mother even said she had not seen her so happy in the years that followed my grandfather's passing. I'm so happy that my grandmother still had her independence yet we still felt safe leaving her in these professionals' hands.

I visited this assisted living center as a church service project. I was impressed with the beautiful entryway, and wide, hardwood floors leading to the main room. At the time of our visit, it was Christmas time, and there was a very large Christmas tree in the main room that was beautifully decorated. Lights, wreaths and garland were strung in the hallways, giving the entire building a very warm, "homey" feel. The people who lived in the home seemed to be well cared for, and well attended to by the employees. The staff was very professional, and the people who lived in the home seemed to enjoy the staff's company. The level of cleanliness of the place would be about a 7 out of 10. I think it could have been a bit cleaner, and smelled a bit better, but it was certainly a healthy level of clean. Overall, it would be a place I wouldn't mind living in if I ever need assisted living in my future.
