My father has moved into Ridgecrest Retirement and Healthcare. He chose it because the rooms were the biggest rooms. He's pleased with it. What I liked best about it would be the friendliness of the caregivers, and the least would be when you go later in the evening, because there's nobody at the front desk and it takes a while to get in. The food is edible but not seasoned. They have activities, but he is a loner, so he doesn't participate in them. It has a courtyard, but it's just like for people who like flowers. It has a room with exercise equipment, and different areas for a chapel and a little library. It has all the amenities as the other ones, but they're just really, really small. It's clean. He is pleased with the value for the money. It's close to the hospital. In case he has any emergency, he is close to the hospital.

If I could give less than a star I would. Please Do Not put your loved one here. Mom would not be in her room due to having surgery, I would go in to get her clothes and food wrappers would be in the trash. She roomed alone so no one else was there to eat her food. I brought up larger packages of TP and the next day she would have only one roll. They threw away her new thick towels because she threw up on them. Once when she was really ill and was telling them she was ill and in pain. They brought her food tray and put it on the counter away from her bed and told her she needed to get up and get it. Twice I came in and found a list by the bed of medications, that she was prescribed , and not to give them to her because she didn't want to take them. One was her heart medication. She had congenital heart failure. She was early dementia and could not make those decisions on her own and they knew that. She kept telling me they weren't giving her her meds, then the staff would complain that she was up all hours of the night. If she had been given her dementia medication, she always slept threw the night. She was constantly missing cloths, towels, sheets... Please do not put your loved one in this place ! I was so glad I pulled mom out of here !

My mother and step father live in Ridgecrest and they are supposed to track her blood sugar as she's a long time type 1 diabetic. Early this week, they allowed her blood sugar to get down to 37. She was in a near coma state and had to go by ambulance to the ER. They recently let the director go, and I was not unhappy to see him go, but there doesn't seem to be anyone in charge now. They are also overloading the CNA's on my parent's floor and they don't have time to attend to all they need to. We are not happy with the level of care, but don't want to move because off all the stress involved.

Mom is moving to Ridgecrest. The rooms are large and nice, the staff is very welcoming. All the people we saw there seemed very happy. The dining hall was nice and set up restaurant-style. They have a full schedule of activities, and they enjoy it.

We moved mom to Ridgecrest Retirement Limited, and she is very happy there. It’s a nice, well-kept place down by the lake. The people are very friendly and caring. Mom plays domino and bingo. They have music, as well. Mom says the food is excellent.

It's clean, homey, and friendly. The apartments are nice sized and quite roomy for assisted living. The price is very reasonable. One thing I really like about Ridgecrest Retirement is they have a courtyard that people can sit around and look at. They have resident cats out there, and the people can pet them. They serve three meals a day, and it's nutritious. They offer a menu, and they fix it according to people's likes as well as their dietary restrictions. They have a registered nurse and dietitians. They have lots of activities. They do encourage socialization, and they don't encourage people to take their meals in the room. The residents seemed happy.

While in Waco looking at assisted living facilities, we visited Ridgecrest Retirement Limited. From the moment we arrived, we could see that this was a well-tended facility. The staff was professional, yet caring and kind. They understood how challenging it is to find a new home for a loved one and put us at ease. They have many staff and everyone seems to work in a team-like environment to attend to the needs of the residents. They provide a full range of services - from therapy to special needs and activities - in addition to the usual living and meal offerings. What intrigued us the most was the educational materials offered to friends and family, to make the transition smoother. This facility had one of the most impressive activities systems we've seen thus far. From regularly scheduled exercise, to group and individual activities for residents in their own rooms or the communal rooms, they really go out of their way to see that the residents are content and not bored. The community volunteers that come on a regular basis are an added bonus, such as the Texas Therapy Dogs. The children from daycares and elementary schools often perform musical programs and take part in arts and craft activities with residents. They even have regular meetings with the residents to find out what else they would like to do. There is a monthly newsletter that is distributed to everyone, including families. Every area we visited was clean, fresh, bright and well-lit. The living quarters were all spacious and warmly decorated. The apartments were decorated often with personal items and furniture of their choice. Each unit was equipped with an emergency call system. This is a very well-thought out community of caring staff for residents who all appear to be well-cared for and content.
