I went to the Good Samaritan Society - White Acres. The lady I visited there, she was in one of those little apartments on the ground level. She brought her own furniture, it looked like a nice apartment, and she was very happy with her arrangements. I think it's well known, and I think the care was good, and the food was OK. It's an older complex, and could use spiffing up, but the people were very kind.

Although the rehab specialists are good and nice, the daily care for my mom in March 2107 was horrible. She couldn't walk and, in spite of repeated requests, they did not put the call button in her reach. She was helpless in her bed or wheel chair. They put diapers on her as they didn't get to her in time to help her to the bathroom. They did not provide adequate nutrition assistance, not giving her ensure. When I pushed her button or she did, the wait for care was generally 20 minutes and never less than 5 minutes. I saw others with no one there visiting wait even longer. There is no security even, as the desk up front was almost never occupied. Guests, outside caregivers, etc. would stand waiting till another visitor or someone walked by to direct them. No one ever questioned me going in or out, much less helped me. The nurses in the main area use the closet as their office so they can close the door and not be bothered by those needing help. If there is an aid at the "nursing station" desk, they ignore residents and tell everyone to wait. They seem very, very overwhelmed and too busy. Understaffing is no excuse for the poor care - it is the reason. Even the online rankings that make them look so good are misleading -- ratings don't take into account any item they don't provide information on. And the claim that 100% of residents are always vaccinated is unbelievable. IF YOU USE THEM - have a family member or better yet a private aid available to provide daily care. And be careful about complaining -- they have a reputation for transferring out complainers or those doing poorly.

Most not all but most of the nursing staff in the White Acres facility are just going threw the motions of their jobs. They are not concerned of patient care and or health. They have left my mother unattended in the bathroom for a 1/2 hour and have kept her from using the bathroom for over an hour. They forgot to bring her to breakfast, and have not had a CNA assigned to her. When making complaints about an ongoing ant infestation we were told that they would "clean" the floor. Last time I checked "cleaning" a floor does not mitigate an ant infestation. I am horrified at the conditions and or treatment that is continuing at this facility. When my mother needs long term care due to her illness or even if she need short term care again there is no way that I will ever allow her to come back here. The only saving grace is the 2% of staff that care and the P/T, O/T and speech therapy people that are wonderful. They do not deserve to be associated with the rest of the staff there

Good Samaritan is a lovely location. It is very well-kept, pricing is very reasonable, and they have a lot of good amenities. The staff seemed OK. They are available when needed. They do have activities, but I don't know if my aunt is going to any of those.

A found the Good Samaritan - White Acres for my brother-in-law, and he died. They were great. I was able to observe the physical therapy and the interaction between the staff and the patients. They were not just hanging out in the room unlike some. I was impressed by the nursing staff; they were tremendous. The atmosphere was just very pleasant.

We didn't like White Acres at all. My mother wanted out of this facility within 24 hours. They had a very uncompassionate nursing staff. They were really busy. The first night that my mom was there, they had a mix-up on her medication. They didn't give her anything actually because they didn't get the doctor's orders, and there was a lot of confusion. Then they put her in a room with a woman that had like behavioral problems and was screaming out all night instead of giving my mom somebody that was more compatible. My mother had just gotten out of the hospital where she had gallbladder surgery, so she needed her rest; however, she wasn't able to sleep all night because of the screams. The next morning, the food was horrible. They gave her a cold breakfast. The positive for this facility is that the atmosphere was very pretty. It had a nice garden. It was clean, but the staff was very inattentive.

Everything was really good at Good Samaritan. It was highly recommended. I thought their living quarters were very nice. They were in good size for a couple or a single person. The staff was very good and very friendly. Their dining area was restaurant style. I knew they had activities for the people that lived there like bingo, movie night, entertainment for them, and they took them out for dinner.
