Hammond Place was expensive. It was just beyond our bills to pay without insurance. Even with the insurance, it would still be a little bit more than the others, but they'll probably be doable. North Augusta's a little bit far away, but not too much. We could get there from Augusta in about 30 minutes. They had a nice activities room and a very nice reading room with a library. The rooms were very roomy. We looked at one size room and it was as big as the two rooms that we have here in our facility. One was a bedroom and one was a living room and it was very nice. The activities director gave us the tour. We also met the administrator who was very nice. She came in and talked with us and was very approachable. Then we met several of the staff members that were very friendly. It was very nice. It was fairly new and well-kept. The dining room looked very nice as well.

I looked at Hammond Place. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They provide me with a wealth of information and even did a follow-up, which was kind of them. The rooms were nice and spacious, and they have a very home-like appeal to them. All their activities were posted, and it was a lot. They had a lot of activities posted and the residents there appeared to be happy.

Hammond Place has a caring staff. The administrator is very in tune with the residents and the family members. You get three meals a day and snacks. They have two cooks who would come out and talk to them, making sure they like what they're eating. There's a nurse and a great activity director. She comes up with a lot of nice ideas for them to do, depending on what the status is with COVID, as to how extensive it may get. Around Valentine's Day, it spiked up, so they backed off as far as having people come in, but they have a lot of great activities going on every day. The residents love bingo. I think they have an outside court and a little pet bunny hopping around, too. I liked that it is small because that's what I was looking for and it's closer to where I am. My mom's room has a little kitchenette that comes with a refrigerator, microwave, cabinets, and a nice-sized walk-in shower, so it's really big and spacious. Should she need a wheelchair, she'd be able to get into the bathroom and do whatever. So, that's great. They have a call button in the bed area and the bathroom area if she needs anything. The layout just goes all the way around. So, if you just follow all the way around, it takes you right back to the front. I love it.

Hammond Place in North Augusta was nice. I was just a little disappointed when we got there because I was quoted a price and then they added to it. They kept nickel and diming and adding more services. All I needed was a shower, and they charged me another $750 a month for a shower. It's assisted living. They have a garden and outdoor area. The room we saw was lovely. Nothing wrong with it it's very nice. The place itself was nice and clean. They have a director there and a program director that did events and things like that. They have activities. They do bingo and games. They have a meeting, I think once a month, where the residents can air out their grievances and have suggestions and ideas. That was kind of nice.

The people at Hammonds place were phenomenal. They were very good and excellent. The one who assisted us on our tour obviously showed us everything. She called us, and kept in touch with us; she did a very good Job. The rooms are great, and the facility was excellent. There was nothing wrong with it. The only reason that we didn't choose it for my dad is we got one that was available and closer.

I went to Hammond Place. They had different care levels, if I fell and broke something, I can still stay there. It was nice, but it didn't have a kitchen. Three meals a day are available, they had various activities that started on the hour, and they offered rehab services. Everybody was polite and professional.

My dad lived at Hammond Place for about 10 months. I would call it marginal in terms of activities. They advertise that they had programs, but the time my dad was there, there was on-again-off-again staffing and activities. They just didn't get around to doing things like we would have hoped. My dad was also not very happy with the menu and dining room, and he didn't like the food so that was another negative. They were just not well-equipped and not much in the way of amenities. The rooms had a sink, microwave, small refrigerator and it was pretty good-sized bedroom.

I didn't want to take my dad out of North Augusta, because his friends are there, his church is there, and his family is there. He picked Hammond Place. They seem to care about him. It's also in the country, and there are trees that he's familiar with when he looks out the window. We're very pleased so far. He seems to enjoy the food and he's not complaining. That's one of the reasons we put him in there too, because they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That's something he's not getting at home. He lives by himself. He needed more attention as time goes by. Now he's getting breakfast instead of just a bowl of cereal. This morning he just had scrambled eggs, bacon, and a piece of toast with jelly on it. They also take the residents on several field trips.

My mom has been at Hammond Place for five to six weeks. We chose it because it was smaller than other facilities and very homey. She's doing well now and getting used to it. They're all very caring, respectful, and sweet to her. For the price, the size of the room is the largest out of any of the ones we looked at. They have Bingo, they give manicures, have coloring, different crafts, and exercises.

Mom stayed for respite care at Hammond Place. You do not see or hear from the director, the sales person, or the nurse after you get in. They were very evasive about what they’re doing. All of the residents complained about the meals. They would be given cold tomato soup, cold mushroom soup, and half of a sandwich for dinner at night. However, the room she stayed in was very nice and had a refrigerator, microwave, and cabinets in the kitchenette; a private bathroom with a walk-in shower; and a large closet and a place for a double bed. They played bingo, went on van rides, and had people come in and sing, but only a few people participated in these activities.
