My Father was need of 24 hour care which is why we went to the Westminster Unit of Presbyterian Senior Care. From the moment my Dad came to Westminster. they treated him like he was family. Their staff is very attentive and really took care of him. His room was beautiful with a mini kitchen and a beautiful view of the Oakmont Golf Course. They made his days wonderful.

We found Presbyterian Senior Care (Westminster Place), and it was very good. We liked the familiarity and quality. They had everything there, and it was a lot. The place was very clean, and the room size was just right. The staff was excellent. I had eaten there, and the food was fine.

We found Presbyterian to be very helpful because my mother was starting to have dementia. They were very knowledgeable and caring. I thought the food was fair to good. There were no complaints about it. The care did not change even when mother's money was depleted. The place was pretty large. They actually had an area that was like an old shopping mall where the residents could go down. She had an allotted amount of money she could spend each month so, she's able to go down there and shop for stuff like candy and she enjoyed this. She also enjoyed the people around her.

Upon arriving at Senior Presbyterian Care in Oakmont, I was immediately greeting by friendly staff members who had agreed to give me a tour of the facility. Since my mother was a care aid here, I was even allowed to visit some of her favorite residents. The hallways were large and gorgeous, adorned in bright lighting, chandlers, and beautiful paintings. This "home" seemed more like an expensive hotel then a nursing home; each room came equipped with very clean bathrooms, a rocking chair, sitting chair, and queen size beds. One resident, whom they lovingly called "Momma Lynn" had decorated her room to represent her bedroom from her previous residence before she was moved to the facility. Her room smelled of fresh flowers and she sat on her comfy chair, looking quite relaxed as she knitted and greeted me with a smile of warmth. Most of the residents seemed very happy here. The numerous activity rooms located within the 3 story main building were large and elegant. The furniture seemed to be carefully hand selected to bring the place a sense of victorian style homeliness. The staff were attentive and caring of the residents, as one nurse proved, when one of her patients came wandering down the hallway (thinking it was breakfast time, though it was evening) and asked for a glass of orange juice. The nurse carefully walked her back to her room and brought her the juice she had requested, while calmly telling her it was nighttime and she should be getting ready for bed soon.Although the price to stay at this facility was expensive (around 4,000 dollars a month), it seemed worth every penny. It is rare to come across these homes that have both the comforts of home and friendly, warm-hearted staff members. It was a joyful experience, to say the least, and if I were a resident there I would feel very safe and sound, because at Senior Presbyterian Care, its like coming home.

Presbyterian Senior Care is nestled within the small, yet homey community of Oakmont, Pennsylvania surrounded by trees, impressive landscaping, and beautiful buildings. The home consists of three large structures, the last connected by a white wooden bridge. Upon walking into the large white double doors, you are immediately greeted by a staff security personnel who will request your identification and reason for your visit. The main building, where most of the residents are assisted living patients, reminds me of a rustic, yet modern, hotel. The sitting rooms, used for reading or activities, are beautifully decorated with flowers, paintings, and comfortable furniture. My first impression of the first floor was astounding. Senior Presbyterian Care seems more of a lavish hotel then that of a nursing home. The colors and the smells of the floors are vibrant and seems to eminate an aura of happiness and comfort. Some nursing homes can be quite underwhelming and dingy, making one feel sorry for the residents who dwell there, however, this facility has proven that some homes can literally feel like a "home away from home." Not only is the facility beautiful in its appearance, the staff who assist these residents seemed friendly and caring. Constance Mazur, a resident caregiver, displayed the upmost grace and caring when I walked with her as she checked on her patients. She knew each resident by name, and each of them seemed to light up when she appeared in their rooms, excited to see her and also happy to meet me. One resident, whom she called "Momma Lynn" had transformed her room into her own personal living room, surrounding herself with photos of loved ones, drawings she had done, and light decor consisting of knick knacks and her favorite Disney character, Tinker Bell. Each resident seemed content and happy with their caregiver, their rooms, and their meals and activities provided. Not only was the staff professional, they displayed a compassion for the residents that I have never witnessed before in a nursing facility. Senior Presbyterian Care is a unique, beautiful, and provides the upmost comfort for its staff and residents. Although the cost of obtaining a room at this facility can be expensive, the cost is well worth the care and compassion these residents receive from the staff. Not only does it provide that "home away from home" essence, the residents are well provided and cared for by the passionate staff members. To conclude this review, I would have to quote Dorothy by simply stating, "There's no place like home."
