The caregivers are just that: caring and giving. They are attentive to the needs of the residents and courteous with visitors. Also, they provide a variety of activities and a pleasant environment.

The Charles Morris Center is a beautiful facilty. There is a huge cage with live birds in the lobby, which is a good place to take residents to sit and stimulate conversation. The rooms are large, but the carpeting on the floor makes for a germ trap. They had good activities for the residents. There was BINGO, music shows, games, and crafts. However, I don't think there was enough staff. It took a very long time for staff to respond to call bells. Many times I had to help my mother to the bathroom, because no one was coming. At one point, I was told, "We're serving lunch trays, she's just going to have to wait." That is hard to do when a person has diarrhea. Many times my mother had to sit in her mess for hours until someone came to check on her. There were many days when she wasn't up or dressed by 10:00 a.m. I, in turn, had to sponge bathe her myself and get her dressed because I was told they were "short-handed." There wasn't a lot of compassion/patience for those who had severe dementia. This was very obvious in their rehab department. If a person couldn't follow simple directions, the rehab staff complained that they couldn't work with that person. Charles Morris is a Jewish facility which was a little difficult in terms of meals during strict Jewish holidays. There were no meal options for non-Jewish residents during this time. However, during non-Jewish holidays, the meals, for the most part, were good. In conclusion, even though the facility is nice to look at, the care could definitely be better.
