Welcome to mbia Cottage Collegeville! Columbia Cottage is a pioneer in the field of Assisted Living. It was the first company in Pennsylvania to have multiple communities licensed as Assisted Living.
Columbia Cottage is more than just a building in which residents receive care. Rather, it is a remarkable, thriving and unique community comprised of trained and caring staff who are dedicated to providing quality and compassionate care to each and every resident each and every day.
We promote independence and well-being while offering support and assistance as and when it is necessary. Unique to Columbia Cottage are seven levels of care. We practice “Aging in Place” and adhere to a “resident-centered” philosophy of care that encourages and supports our residents to live their lives and structure their days as they each may choose. Our residents live and enjoy life to the fullest knowing that they are safe and secure and cared for by our wonderful staff. Indeed, the majority of our residents are with us to the end of their days.
We are not a Nursing Home. We are an alternative to a Nursing Home. We offer individualized care plans that promote and respect the individual wants, needs and preferences of our residents.
We are not a Personal Care Home. As an Assisted Living Residence, we are held to higher regulatory standards than a Personal Care Home relating, for example, to staffing requirements, care requirements and our apartment units.

We chose Columbia Cottage Collegeville for mom because it's a small community, and the caregiver to resident ratio is favorable. They offer a variety of activities and services, and the location was also beneficial. They had 10 levels of care from independent living all the way through to skilled nursing. It is great because she can age in place, and the staff has been amazing. They have three different sized rooms. My mom is in a 312 square foot room (which doesn't sound like much), but it is perfect for a single person. There's a full bathroom with a walk-In shower and pull cords by the bed and in the bathroom for assistance.
There are three different sized rooms. They're generally on a wait list, but we happen to call them at a good time. They have one available. It's really like a big home. They have a living room, a TV area, dining room, and kitchen (which is all open for the residents to use as they like). They also have a hair salon onsite, as well as a physical therapy area. They have therapists that come in several times a week and a hairdresser that's there two days a week.
They also have a nurse on-staff 24 hours a day, and they're great. If there's any medical assistance needed, they're there. They have various activities like arts and crafts, games, bingo, and movie night. They also have a vehicle, so they can do scheduled transportation to doctor's appointments. There are two courtyards inside the building, so residents can go outside and enjoy them without the risk of anybody wandering off. She likes the food so far.
