Juniper Village at Mount Joy seemed very well organized. The rooms were spacious. The community rooms were spacious, and the dining room was very nice. The staff gave me a sample of the menu and it seemed very varied. It just seemed like a very nice place. I liked it a lot. The layout of the apartments was very nice. I did get to see three of them, and they seemed very nice. There's a little kitchenette in there. There was a chapel and a hair salon. They had everything. They had a lot of activities on their calendar.

My mom moved into Juniper Village at Mount Joy. Right off the top, these people are so caring. I can't say enough for them. They are just so accommodating to make this transition easy. We want my mom to be in a decent clean place, and that's exactly what this is. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine whose mother was there. The staff members were outstanding. It's in the town of Mount Joy, but it still feels like you're out in the country a little bit. It's in a nice location. It's maybe 20 minutes from where we are located, and we're familiar with the area. It's very easy to reach, and there's not a lot of traffic. You're not in the middle of the city and have that hustle and bustle, so it's nice. My mom has a little bedroom area and a couple of chairs in there. She has a little kitchenette, a refrigerator, a little sink, and a microwave. She can get her own drinks when she's not down at the dining area, which is three meals a day. They include cable TV. There is that potential if you want them to do laundry, but that is another up-charge. So I've chosen to do her laundry at this point. The food was nice. They have people that come in and play musical instruments or sing. They have cooking demonstrations. They have church services several times a week. They have a living room with a nice big fireplace, tons of couches, and chairs. If you don't want to participate in singing, you can just sit there and listen. They have several little game tables. They have different things like chess and Tic-tac-toe, so it's very nice.

Juniper Village at Mount Joy is very nice. The place is very, very nice. They have multiple places for people to eat in terms of area. At the time, they were constructing a new activity gym area. The rooms are very nice. The biggest issue I had there was that it was quite expensive. It's a lot more expensive than where my mom is now. They have a building that has studio apartments, and some places have semi-privates. The place is very nice. They have nice facilities. The staff who accommodated me for the tour was very nice.

I like that Juniper Village at Mount Joy is internally community based. My mother's very happy. The food is wonderful. She loves the place. They've done so well. They're fabulous. Everything they do is amazing because they're so supportive and helpful. Anytime she asks any furniture to be moved, it's done. Anything I ask for, like any medicine that needs to get done, it's done. They're so responsive. For a couple, the room size is small. If it's just for my mother, it would be perfect.

Juniper Village at Mount Joy was beautiful. The staff showed us two very nice rooms. They were preparing for a man to play guitar while we were taking a tour. They provided lunch for us, and we had a choice of two different entrees. The people who worked in the dining room were very attentive to everybody and got them anything that they wanted. It was like a restaurant, and the food was very good.

Juniper Village at Forest Hills is fine. I don’t have any problem with the place at all. It’s a very nice place. My mother-in-law actually has 2 rooms. She has a little living room, a bedroom, a very small kitchen, and a very nice bathroom. These are somewhat limited because she had been in a skilled home for a month, and they had a lot more activities. So, they had limited activities.

We are originally from Pittsburgh, and my son lives in Elizabethtown -- which is not that far from Juniper Village; that’s why chose the place. My son also thought that this particular one was the one that offered more of the things to help my husband. We were in a rush as my husband at the time had been hospitalized because he had fallen a couple of times, and I was unable to get him up when he fell so we had to make a decision; it was a quick decision as he had to go somewhere after being discharged from the hospital. They have nurses who are all good and a doctor, but he only comes one day a week. The food is not as hot as it should be or it’s never hot. Not to our liking. It could be more nutritious; they need more fresh vegetables as always seemed to have a lot of pastas and noodles. They had a couple of different things this week like they have a group of singers -- which was very good -- and the choir director was excellent. They also had a rodeo this week, where they had a gentleman that actually participated in the rodeo and he gave a presentation. They are supposed to have internet connection; mine has been out for two weeks, and I can’t get it resolve. It was working. It’s a guess type thing, but still I was able to get on, and now I have been unable to get on for almost two weeks and that’s very frustrating because that’s how you can touch with your family, and there’s a lot of things you need on the internet now. Their physical therapist here is called Genesis; they are excellent and both ladies that worked in the physical therapy were very good.

No matter what, when we walked through Juniper Village, every staff member greeted us. The dining area was larger, and I immediately liked it. Everybody acknowledged our presence, and I just immediately thought that this is where I want my mother to go. They had a large common area and that was the one thing I didn’t like because it seemed lonely. The rooms are a nice size and large enough to get a love seat and furniture in. They had a nice view and mother can have a small kitchenette where she could keep snacks. There weren't any microwaves in the Alzheimer’s unit. The facility was nice, clean, and well organized. They cook with them and did all kinds of things with the clients. I would absolutely recommend Juniper.
