The Village at Penn State was nice, and we are satisfied. The rooms were clean. The dining room looks like you are at a restaurant with individual tables, and they had tablecloths. I know they had outings in the university there. The staff was nice and professional.

I had to drag my husband to the Villages, then I had to drag him away. That really says it all. I love the area and the energy of the State College town filled with young people is appealing to us. Everything and everyone at the Village made us feel welcome and content. The facilities are terrific and the food and service were tops.We were very happy to share several meals with highly intelligent and accomplished residents We hope to become residents once our current real estate is settled. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We got the chance to talk to some residents and tour their rooms. It looked like a very nice place to retire to. There was an excellent exercise facility set up in which the residents can work out on their own, take group classes, or sign up for personal training. There was a pool in which a lifeguard was always on duty. They could free swim or take classes like water aerobics. The food was also excellent as we were fortunate enough to be able to eat lunch there with some of the residents. As well, they have guest speakers every afternoon discussing things such as history, politics, travel, health, etc. to keep the residents informed and allow them to constantly be learning. I did not hear any complaints from any of the residents; they all seemed to be very happy there!

I visited the The village at Penn State, while I was working for a temp agency doing food catering, which we did at various places and in various buildings on the Penn State university park campus. This place is staffed by nursing students, so you can imagine how it is there. The staff there were so compassionate about what they are doing that they honestly do the best they can to care for those in the village. The complex is located just outside of town and just past the hospital up on the ridge. Its a newer building, I remember it being built in the last 10 years. It was spotless on the inside. Everything was so bright and new looking. All the staff were eager to help us find our way around the building to take the food to the three rooms where they were having some kind of banquet that day. Since this building was new and it belonging to Penn State it was very high tech, I believe you had to be an alumni to reside there. With that being said the people who resided there were also very nice and courteous. I spent about three hours in the village and it was very pleasant.

This facility reminds me more of an upper class gated community than a retirement community. The homes are beautiful, from the inside right out to the perfectly landscaped yards. The amenities are endless and allow for those who reside there to feel as if they are on an extended vacation. The location is very secure and it seems well known that there is always someone there to look out for you or lend a hand. The staff is friendly and willing to help in any way needed. They are all educated and experienced and have a great deal of knowledge in their respective areas. The cleanliness was superb and there seems to be a large list of activities available to residents. This is definitely not what my idea of a retirement community would be like. This is all around the type of home and area you would want to live.
