Description

About This Community
The Bristal at Sayville is a lovely community set against the backdrop of a storybook village, one of Long Island’s most enchanting towns. The senior care you’ll encounter here is outstanding in every way. The Bristal family of assisted living communities are the finest in the tri-state area — if not across the country — a perfect balance of care and independence. When you enter our doors you immediately sense a feeling of strength and confidence, one that results from years of excellence across a family of communities. And the staff here keeps things active and lively. There’s never a dull day.

Sayville itself is nothing short of charming, reflecting the character of a real town center along the South Shore in the Town of Islip. There are many stores, shops, sights and services, all very local, friendly and accessible, and with the ferries leaving from here to Fire Island, it’s always bustling and vibrant in the summer. Spirited street fairs and cultural festivals are held throughout the year, celebrating the rich history of Sayville, which dates back to 1738. There’s a new library, a children’s park, and a town beach and marina nearby, plus the LIRR station is only a short block away.

When we walked into The Bristal at Sayville, we saw a person we knew from our local church. It's a very pretty place and it looks nice inside. People seem to be actively involved in different things. The staff seems to be pretty up. Then we saw her room and several other rooms. They were a fairly good size. She said that she didn't like the food, because it was brought in from a company and then reheated. It's very pretty and very eye-appealing. Somebody took the time to make sure that it's very well-lit, which I think is important for your overall attitude. The representative we talked to seemed to be more business-minded though compared to the other people we talked to.

My mother had been a resident for 2.5 years, and my father has recently joined her. And although his admission from the community during COVID was a little more challenging for us, it went smoothly. The staff is friendly and caring, and the facility is immaculate. My parents enjoy the food and the choices available. There are plenty of activities to keep them busy if that is what they choose. My mother really enjoys the outdoor courtyard Spring, Summer and Fall. COVID has posed challenges for all of us, and I have been quite pleased with how the Bristal Sayville has handled these challenges. Thank you.

I could not be more pleased with the Bristal at Sayville. My friend, Muriel, has been a resident there since October 2018. Her room is comfortable and cheery and well appointed for her needs. She has not only enjoyed the everyday social aspect of living at the residence, but most of all the courteous attention she receives from the Staff and Aids on a daily basis. The competent staff at the Bristal is compassionate, caring and considerate of the residents needs. Now especially during this Corivd-19 pandemic, where the residents are asked to stay in their rooms to avoid the spread of this virus, the staff and personal are conscientious to make sure the isolation of the residents receive daily special attention and socialization by coming into their rooms 3 times a day for meals, or for medicine, or snacks, or fresh water and check-ins to see if they need anything else. Muriel and I are very pleased with the attention, and professional way the Bristal is handling this pandemic in their community setting. My interaction with every staff member, from reception, Wellness or Board Member has been a positive caring and well informed exchange. Being Muriels friend and care taker I am at peace and grateful that she is well taken care of and can't wait to visit with her again soon. Thank you very much I appreciate all you do.

Our family is grateful for The Bristal at Sayville for their care and commitment to patients. The staff is diligent in providing the interaction, activities and physical care essential to his specific needs. The environment is beautiful and clean. He’s a picky eater but with so many delicious options he always enjoys his meals. Thank you for giving us the peace of mind we would have never had if it weren’t for this facility.

The Bristal at Sayville had a nice setting, the outside was spacious, had more property, and had a pretty much cookie-cutter layout. They were homey, but very attractive and modern, and the rooms were a little small but adequate. I interacted with the staff who were all attentive to the people, and the girl who took me around, was very knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. The hallways were attractive. They had a movie theater, a craft room, an exercise room, and a wellness room. It was very pleasant, like going into a hotel. The lobby area was attractive, well-appointed, and not depressing.

There are not enough adjectives to describe the specialness of The Bristal. It is beautiful caring and each employee is truly like family. They treat my mom like a queen living in a palace where her every need is their top priority. I travel often and am secure in knowing my mom is happy, comfortable and loved 24/7. You'll walk in and meet Geri -- the world's sweetest receptionist! -- and that will start your visit with smiles and caring questions from all staff.

My dad has been in the memory are unit at The Bristal in Sayville for the past 10 months. Our family is quite happy with the attention and care he receives on a daily basis. The staff there treats the residents as if they were family. We know my dad is well cared for and safe. The facility is immaculate and the meals are very good. Our overall experience has been very positive. The Bristal at Sayville has become my dad's home away from home.

The Bristal at Sayville was very clean and kind of pricey. The only thing I was a little taken aback by is you have to give $5000 upfront. Otherwise, they keep everybody busy, and all my questions were answered. Also, it's a gorgeous place, and it's brand new.

The Bristal at Sayville was very nice and they were very helpful, but it was very expensive. The rooms were very clean and nice. Their dining area looked very nice as well.

Bristal Assisted Living was gorgeous. I would recommend it, but I’m looking for independent-living. They are really not offering much for independent elders. I cook, and they don’t have kitchens. The staff was very pleasant, outgoing, and inviting. The dining area is beautiful, but I didn’t taste any of their food. The menu looked very nice. They have theater, exercise room, a card room, and there’s a room where you can get a snack anytime of the day or night. They have all the amenities as far as facilities are concerned.

The Bristal Assisted Living at Sayville was a very nice community. I didn't have any complaints during my visit there. In fact, I liked it. The people were accommodating, and the residents were very active. They didn't have a studio apartment available at that time, just a one-bedroom apartment which was more expensive. The rooms looked very good, though. My visit at Bristal was a good experience.

I was given a tour of this facility by Laura. Although we have chosen a different course of action, the facility was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and everything was clean. Additionally, Laura made us feel very welcome and was extremely sensitive and understanding to our particular situation. I would definitely recommend this to others.

It seemed like they knew what they were doing, and everybody was very nice at The Bristal at Sayville. They had a studio and a one-bedroom, but I only looked at the studios because of the budget. They were all very neat, well laid out, airy, amd good enough space, and they felt comfortable.

The Bristal is brand new. It is lovely. One problem I have with all of them though is that they charge to give the medicines. People who are going to assisted living are going there because they help with medicines generally. So, why do they charge to hand out a few pills? They have mostly private rooms. They are connected by a kitchenette to another private room. You share a kitchenette, but your bathroom and your room are private. I know some of the residents. It is as homey as it can be in a facility. The grounds are beautifully kept. My friends say the food is adequate. It is in a residential area. They activities like bingo and arts & crafts. I will recommend them to people who have money for that.

My mother lived out the last few months of her life here I had never seen her so happy. She was always singing every time I visited. The staff in the memory care unit was absolutely amazing. They treated my mother with respect and dignity. They danced with her, sang with her and enco9uraged her to become part of the community. I miss my mother and I miss visiting the Bristal

The Bristal at Sayville was clean, the food smelled good, and the people seemed very nice. It was a little above my targeted price range, but if I can afford it, I would love it. I was going to try the food, but I came after they had setup dinner, and you have to have a reservation. It is six months old, so everything is brand new.

My dad is in The Bristal. It is very clean. They have activities for their residents there. They have an activity room where do a number of things every day. Anything from cross words, current events, movie trivia, sports trivia, and other activities like that. They have a movie theater where they show movies. Residents will bring in DVDs of their own, and they will show them there. They have bingo every day. They have a number of planned trips to department stores, shopping centers, and things like that. My father likes the food very much. They go to the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a menu, and on the menu, they always have 2 or 3 different entrees they can choose from. It is serve to them like a restaurant and not like you have to go on line in a cafeteria. They also have another room -- which they call the Bristal room -- where they have coffee, tea, apple juice, orange juice, water, apples, bananas, sugar free cookies, and muffins, which they can take anytime during the day. The dining area is really nice, very clean, and modern. What stands out to me is that the residents are well cared for and that the people are very friendly and very caring.

My father-in-law would be moving into The Bristal. We wanted to stay close to the area because we wanted to visit often. They have an elevator, and there are no saddles on the floor. The chairs on their dining area have wheels on the front, so it is easy for someone to pull it out without sliding all over. They just thought of all the little things. It is clean, and it looks like a hotel. I would just love to live there. The staff is just so personable. It is really a beautiful place. They have clubs and organizations. There's a hair salon. There's a doctor on call. He never has to leave there if he doesn't want to. He never has to worry about the weather. It is a better quality of life for him. They have a menu which has four or five specials every day. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. It was impressive.

My dad is living in The Bristal Assisted Living at Sayville. We choose it because we want a place close to where I live. The location is good. It is brand new. It has a very cheery environment. The activities people seem youthful and energetic. It did not feel like a nursing home.

The ambience at The Bristal was absolutely beautiful. The visit was very good. I was treated with a lot of care, interest, and compassion. The only complaint that I would have is the private rooms upstairs are too small. It didn’t fit the Bristal’s ambience.

The Bristal was fine, but it wasn’t the right fit for my mom. The people were so nice, and the place was clean. The person I met was very nice. They took us around, showed us the rooms, and showed us different things that went on. There were activities going on when we went in there, and the dining room looked really nice. Everything was great about it.

We actually visited places with limited licenses. Some of them would say that when my mother was wheelchair bound, she would have to go someplace else. However, The Bristal at Sayville has a better license, but they weren't opening until April or May. The people we spoke to, everybody was very professional. There was no problem with the personnel at all. There was also no problem with the architecture of the building. They showed us pictures of the building; it wasn't finished yet, but it looked like it was going to be a beautiful place when they opened. The staff we talked to were tremendous, it was just the licensing just didn't work out.
