I toured Brookdale Lakewood. The staff was excellent. It felt very welcoming. He took a lot of time to explain everything very thoroughly, and he showed every aspect of the facility that would involve any resident there. He's the only staff member I really met, but I was very impressed. The setting was nice. It's kind of set back off the main road and some woods. It's also rather beautiful on the inside. It's like you're in a really nice hotel because it's clean and well kept. The dining room was very pretty. They had flowers on the table and I was kind of impressed by that. I saw a couple of sitting rooms, and they looked really nice and comfortable. I saw a studio but there was no separate bedroom, and that would be my only drawback on that. It's just basically one room and a bathroom. However, the bathrooms themselves were handicap accessible. The landscaping looked very nice. They had a patio that faced out into the woods. It's a very nice country-like setting. They will take care of medications. There's a little extra charge for laundry. I was treated very well on the tour and it was a beautiful facility from my impression. I was only there for a couple of hours, so it's hard to get an overall view of what it would be like to live there.

I toured Brookdale Lakewood. It was extremely clean and attractive. It was in a beautiful location, but it was remote. It was a very quiet place. But for people who want to be busy all the time, there isn't a lot to do. There was no gym facility and there was no means for doing physical exercise other than in-building classes that were led by an instructor. I only met the man who led me on the tour, and that's the only staff I met. They were on a COVID lockdown. And so, there were very, very few people visible. The people that we met seemed to be very nice. There was no food service because of the COVID lockdown, everybody was being served in their rooms. They only had a sidewalk around the building, which they call a walking path, but it's a sidewalk that goes around the building. There's no provision for being outside and exercising outside. There's nothing to do outside. We were told that there were physical exercises like chair yoga that are led by an instructor, but that's all they offer.

I toured Brookdale Lakewood. I thought it was excellent. The rooms were nicer than the other facility I visited. They were more like hotel rooms rather than dorm rooms. The dining area was very nice. The grounds were quite nice because it's more secluded. It's further than any busy road and has nice views of the woods, and I imagine deer, and all the other animals. The staff were very nice too. The Director especially, spent some time and is very cordial. They followed up a few days later, but by then our plans had changed. There the people are mostly hanging out in groups; I didn't see any activities like a game or something. They might have been playing the game, but they were sort of sitting around and they look good. They have laundry, a barber shop, and a hair salon.

We were very pleased with Brookdale Lakewood. The ones that we looked at were the smallest rooms. They were very private. They had doors that locked. The rooms were pretty much open around a circle of a living area, and they were open. The upkeep looks good. The staff was very prompt, very polite, and very knowledgeable. Their dining area was large. They have open menus so that people can select. The food smelled good. They had meatloaf that day. The only difficult thing for us was getting around the facility. They only had one elevator for the whole place, which was not sufficient.

My mom moved into Brookdale Lakewood. The staff is very friendly. It is a very clean, very well-maintained facility, and it's on a smaller scale. They have more of a nurses to residents ratio, and that's why we chose it. My mom says the food has a very good variety and the food is all good. I've seen others do activities. She kind of met the social director, but she hasn't started any activities yet. They had quite a few activities when I was moving her in. I think it's very reasonable for what they're getting.

I went to Brookdale Lakewood yesterday. It was a very nice community. I only had one problem: if you are unfortunate enough to still be alive when your money runs out, they have to send you to another community which I didn't like. Otherwise, the people were nice, the rooms were fine, and the staff seemed nice. That was my only problem, running out of money and being thrown out. The staff was nice. It almost seemed like he talked down to me, like, "you could try for section eight housing." I'm thinking, I've been a businesswoman all my life. I have money, and I would be able to pay for many years there, but I don't know how long I'm going to live. If I'm alive when I'm 100 hundred years old, will they toss me out on the street? I didn't like that and I felt like they weren't interested unless I could show him I had millions of dollars. It's just the impression I got. I would have picked that place in a minute because of everything else except for that. I went to another place last week and they said, "Well, you can still be a part of the community, but we would just put you in a different kind of a room." I thought that's a big difference from moving you completely to another facility. So that was the only reason, otherwise, I would have picked that place in a minute. The rooms were adequate. They were fine. Everything seemed very clean. The dining area was nice. They were eating lunch when I got there, but he didn't show me any exercise areas or craft areas. The outdoor spaces were absolutely beautiful.

Brookdale Lakewood was a beautiful facility. The people that I toured with were very friendly. I would have loved for my father-in-law to be there for assisted living, but I don’t think he was capable of being on his own for assisted living. Everyone was very friendly. They have kept in touch with me just to get an update on him and see how he is doing. It seemed like a great place. The facility itself was very clean, very modern and very beautiful. I absolutely recommend this community.

The administrative staff, aides and housekeeping staff all seem concerned about the residents. They are all attentive to their needs. My only negative comment would be about the food. Some days it is not good and cooked completely.

We visited and it's a larger facility which has much more to offer. They offer one bedroom or two bedrooms with a mini kitchen. I like the size of the facility. I like the size of the rooms and the different arrangements that they had. I thought that they offer tons of activities as well with the amenities.
