We toured Sedgwick Heights for my mother-in-law. They have an enhanced assisted living, and we thought that was an advantage. We liked the friendliness of the people. The rooms were a nice size. It's an older facility, but it's well maintained. Things are clean, neat, and so forth.
We liked it because it has the enhanced assisted living, which will give her some more support if she needs it. The staff was patient and answered all our questions.
They have a recreation program and a little store, and that's about it. A lot of that was on hold because of COVID.
The layout was institutional, but the people were very friendly.

This is suppose to be an assisted living facility, my family member had no housekeeping for the year they were kept in there rooms because of covid, the room had rodent feces and urine, along with urine soaked roll of paper towels that was all chewed up. The room had not been dusted for the whole time. No help was given for putting clothing away, therefore the same clothing was wore day after day. The meals were terrible, usually cold or didn't received them. They blamed everything on Dementia. I was unable to go to her room due to Covid. I never would have someone living in the filth , where they had to eat and sleep and breathe that toxic enviroment. I witnessed residents getting yelled at, that brought residents to tears. Found nurse in the room alone sitting on the bed talking on her cell phone, as i entered she got up and immediately left the room, leaving her keys on the bed, i returned the keys to charge nurse. Scarey thought if a resident got the keys, endangering residents. I hope my actions help to change the standards for the residents who remain there and the future.

Sedgwick Heights has a lot of Medicaid people. There are 150 residents there and I don't think they're getting the proper care that they should be because there are so many people there. The rooms are semi-private. They have two people to a room and you have to get along with your roommate. The nurses have forgotten to come down to give my mom a shower a couple of times. The food is brought in and it is not very good at all. They have activities every week like Bingo, manicures, and trivia, but they don't get out and get a lot of the residents to come down and join in. They have a few people that come down and do the activities, and they don't worry about the other ones. They need better food, and they need more nurses on duty to make sure that the residents are getting what they're supposed to be getting, like showers twice a week, and things like that.
