My relative's stay at Harborview Senior Living wasn't pleasant. She ended up getting sick when she fell and had to be hospitalized. It seemed to be a nice facility, aesthetic-wise, but I don't believe that she received the care that she needed. She needed physical therapy, but she wasn't getting it on a regular basis, but the place was pretty well-maintained. They even had a patio. To me, the staff kind of varies. She had some people that were really attentive and then there were some that were not so much.

My husbands sister is a new resident at Harbor View and we couldn’t be happier or more comforted by the loving care she is receiving. The staff has been so welcoming!
We had concerns about her adjustment but in a short time she tells us she is happy, has made friends and that everyone she deals with is wonderful. Marla, the director, is amazing, has addressed every question we have had with utmost care and attention. We feel blessed to have found this wonderful home! Her room is bright and cheery, she speaks about happy activities. The community has all of the wonderful features of Sheepshead Bay, waterfront, great restaurants , etc.

I visited the assisted living of Harbor View Home. It wasnt the right fit for my mom because she was looking for an independent living situation and was about 10 years younger than the average person there. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were hotel-like but a little run-down. Theyve given us a calendar of activities; there was a lot of Bingo, some exercise, and snack time. The manager was extremely helpful and friendly, and they looked like they cared about the people there.

My dad moved to Harbor View. The staff was very caring and willing to work with me. My father said the food is fine, and he likes it. I know they have different clubs, there’s stuff like Bingo, and he’s taken part in some kind of drama production. They’re very good.

Harbor View Home Assisted Living is very nice. It’s a tall building, which is fine because they have elevators. The people were very nice. This facility is a little bit different from the other facilities I’ve seen, but I cannot say anything bad about it. It is not as modern as the other ones I have visited.

What's unique about Harbor View Home is the way it is organized, and the way that they have it running seemed to be quite above many of the others. They had specialized floors for certain types of problems. It looked more like a hotel than it did like an assisted living place. They do have a gym area and a rehabilitation area. They have games like bingo every so often, barbecues outside, and some walking trips. They had a lot of activities to try to keep the people active as possible. There was no room available, so we put our name on the list. Eventually a room did come up, and we put a down payment on the room. My mother was supposed to come on a certain day, and the day before that, my mother wound up in the hospital. After my mother passed on, they gave me a full refund.

When I walked in the Harbor View Assisted Living, I was greeted very nicely by the staff. It was a very nice place and they were extremely pleasant. I didn't get to tour the entire facility because they were showing me where my mom would be. She has dementia and she has some good days and bad days.
They had all dementia patients on one floor and they were locked into that one floor, which I thought was horrible. Alarms would go off if they walk a certain distance on the floor. They were literally isolated from everyone else in the facility. I mentioned it during the tour, and they said that my mother would be in the other area, and she would have freedom or left on her own. I was not comfortable with that one either. I thought that was okay if you're not a dementia patient. It was too lenient for me.

This is a great facility. They offer one and two room suites, which is more than enough for my friend and his wife. There's a great view, as this is right by the bay. The unit is partially furnished with refrigerator and couch. It is TV ready, buy my friend had to bring some of his own furniture into the unit as well. There are a lot of services available at this facility. The 24-hour staff helps with medication regulation, cleaning services, and grooming. There is 24 hour security and there is an emergency button in each room. Dry cleaning and launder services are available, too. On Sundays, there is a worship service for those that are religious. This is really important to my friends. When they want to get out, my friend and his wife have many options. There are many local restaurants and parks where my friend's like to visit. If they want to travel further, there's always public transportation. Central Park and the shows on Broadway are popular places that many residents here like to visit.

It seemed really great at the facility and the people were very nice. I wasn't really sure what to think of the facility as a whole, but I liked it a lot from what i saw. The people there seemed quite happy and the food looked great. It was a very good facility.

Harbor View Assisted Living is an apartment-style complex in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, New York catering to senior citizens who need a little extra help with the activities of daily living. It is close to the bay and many of the apartments have a view of the water from the windows, which is one of the nicer features about these units. I was a frequent visitor to Harbor View when I lived in New York, as several of my former neighbors ended up living there after they could no longer stay on their own.Harbor View offers the basic services that you would expect to find at any assisted living facility, which includes help with dressing, bathing, medication management, transferring and toileting. The residents also get three well-balanced meals a day, activities and transportation to medical appointments. Some physicians do come to Harbor View, so it isn't always necessary to leave the premises. The food is not very fancy and there isn't a large variety, but they do provide Kosher meals for the residents of the Jewish faith. Most of the meals are prepared with very little seasoning or salt, so it does taste a little bland if you are used to more robust flavors.Since Harbor View is located in the metropolitan New York area, it is very expensive for anyone choosing to live there. And while you do get a nice, clean room, it is extremely small and may present a problem to anyone who is moving there from a larger apartment or house. You are not able to fit a double or queen bed in most of the apartments and those in wheelchairs have to be creative in the type of furniture they decide to bring. This is not a criticism as much as a cautionary comment. The rooms are clean and simple and it is in a nice neighborhood. It is close to Coney Island Hospital, so healthcare is pretty accessible. Most of the residents seem clean and well-cared for, but many of them are depressed. There are auxiliary services available (for an extra fee) that includes counseling and psychiatric services. My personal opinion is the residents would be well served by arranging for more activities that involved interaction with outside groups.Harbor View is one of the better assisted living facilities in Brooklyn, and if you do have to relocate to one, this should be on your list to check out.

Harbor View is located in the heart of Sheepshead Bay. It faces the water as well as the Belt Parkway. In my opinion this facility is a bit on the dreary side. I was not pleased with the administration. I found that the director seemed somewhat annoyed when having to answer the many questions I had. I did not get a warm feeling at all. They are the only assisted living in brooklyn that accepts Medicaid, so I was hoping that it would be a place I would feel comfortable leaving my loved one. The other major concern I had with this facility is the fact that it is so close to the highway. My fear was that my loved one who suffered from dementia would wander outside, as the security did not seem to sound. I would not reccomend this facility.

I visited this facility with a friend whose grandmother is living in. It was my first time to visit such place and I was impressed with everything that I saw there. I had always have a negative feeling towards nursing home and I thought this one will be the same. I was wrong, it was probably the best place for an elderly person to be. Starting with the staff, they were very welcoming and helpful; one of them walked us my friend's grandmother's room. The room was a nice size with breathtaking view. The facility also provides personal assistance to its residents from bathing to legal counseling. Most importantly, it has full healthcare that the residents can use anytime. Other than those facilities that they offer, I think it is crucial to see that these elderly people are comfortable and healthy as they are being taken care of, and they have friends around them as company.
