Somers Place is like personalized care. My father likes it there. They cater to all the residents. They maintain his room once a week and then I go in between that time and I clean up for him. They have a large family room, and then they have a smaller room. They have set planned activities every day. Even though my father doesn't participate, he is in the common area. If they have ice cream, they'll bring ice cream over to him. Even though he is not participating, they still bring refreshments over to him so that he could still see and know what's going on. It looks like a regular home, but when you go in, you see that they have little apartments like about 30 studio apartments in that area. They keep it nice-looking on the outside. It's a welcoming atmosphere. They always have flowers like a home. A lot of times my father doesn't like to come out and he is not up, but they have breakfast ready in his room for him. I'm not sure if that's part of the deal, but they know him now and they do that for him.

I did a tour of Somers Place. They were very communicative, punctual, and knowledgeable. They love pets, they allow them. That was something that was nice. It's a smaller facility, so the rooms were smaller, but they were clean. It's ample enough for one person.

Somers Place was a smaller community. It's a single story, which to me was a plus. They only have 40 beds and so they could be a little bit more personal and everybody gets to know everybody a little bit more. They are surrounded by woods, which was very nice, and they said I could set up a bird feeder for my mom outside the window. That was nice and accommodating. It didn't have the gardens like the other place did, but it had a small pond. To me, this place was a little homier and everything was well taken care of. The staff has kind of gone a little extra mile staying in contact with me. They were trying to set up a temporary stay for my mom so she could come there and get a feel for the place where I didn't have to pay for it.

My mother was in Somers Place. She was there for five years. They gave her excellent care and very personal service. Whenever there was a need for assistance, they were always there to help her. She was never alone in the sense that they always checked on her periodically, throughout the day and the evening. She would get up in the morning, go to the common area, have breakfast, and participate in activities. She would stay there all day, have her three meals, and then they would take her back to her room around six or seven o'clock. So she was an active participant in the facility and enjoyed the activities.

My dad has been doing well so far at Somers Place. The expectations we set out were met. We chose this community because of their response to my queries, their attentiveness, and the timing of the situation. The staff was nice, the facility was in good shape, and they were very helpful. He also likes the food. Right now he's been very happy with the situation. It's an excellent place. The facility is nice and well kept. The grounds are nice, too, and it's very easily accessible to the local area. He's only been there for a week or so, but from what I saw, they do have activities, and the residents seem to be very active and social as much as possible. Unfortunately, businesses in our county were closed for a week in the midst of this pandemic, so some of the information I have is limited, but they treated him very well, and they followed the expectations I set.

Somers Place is small that people could get around easily and not feel overwhelmed. They get theirs nails done during manicure day, or something like that, and a couple things going on in different areas. I didn’t like that it was in the woods, because a lot of the activities were on the porch. The staff seemed very nice, and everybody seemed connected and very accomodating. The rooms were adequate, clean, and comparable to those in the area.

Somers Place was small with only 50 rooms or so. It had parking and you could bring your car. They have a small library, and a sitting area off the lobby, which was OK. The room layouts were small and somewhat poorly laid out in terms of visual appeal, and some almost looked like a hospital room. The lady who took me around met me promptly, and was nice and cordial.

My 94 year old mother has been a resident of Somers Place since May 2015. She loves the place. The staff is very caring and conscientious. She is treated with love, care, dignity and respect. Her quality of life is excellent due to the staff. Nursing staff is very diligent and take their responsibilities with the utmost care. The rooms are very clean as the staff ensures that cleanliness is a top priority. My mom's health has improved since she became a resident at Somers Place

Somers Place was nice and small. The director there was actually the director of my son's day care when he was a new born, so I felt comfortable with the staff. They had shopping and other trips for the residents. I liked it because it would not be a far walk to my uncle's room because it was a small place. The room that we saw was a studio; it was very spacious, and the bathroom was just as big as the room. The staff seemed to know all the residents.

Everyone is so helpful and caring at Somers Place, Attention to detail and the resident's needs are never overlooked. My father has been there for most of this year so far and he is really happy living there. We couldn't have chosen a better place for him. It's a super clean facility as well.

Somers Place was neat, tidy, quiet, small, and overall good. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and not pushy. The dining area was fine. They had movie nights and games.

I was impressed with Somers Place. The facility was clean and nice. I enjoyed the proximity of it from my actual home. However, it didn’t have a dementia unit or a lockdown unit for my mother, so although I was very satisfied with Somers Place, it was not a place for my mother. It was a very large triangle with a spacious, circular courtyard with a locking front door and foyer area. This community was pet friendly. It was a lovely place. It seemed as if the staff was caring, courteous, and genuinely cared for the residents. I saw several of the rooms, and they were spacious. Some were very large and apartment-oriented with multiple rooms, and some were just basic, efficiency suites. There seemed to be some options for couples or individuals and individuals with pets.

The level of personal care and attention to my father, an Alzheimers patient, has been both consistent and remarkable. It is comforting to know he is in good hands.

Facility provides continued oversight of your loved one. They are continually care for and looked after. I visit the site 2x-3x per week to see my mother and she looks great is well dressed and well groomed. Meals and snacks are fantastic. All staff including director, asst. director are hands on. They are around the facility providing assistance and care. they are many staff hands on deck to assist residents at all times.

Somers Place was very nice, and we liked it a lot. I have friends I am trying to put in there. It’s a nice place, I had known people there, and it’s very nicely organized. It was very clean, but it’s a little bit too much money for him. The staff was friendly, it was acceptable, it was very well done, and the food was good.

I have been a volunteer here for 4 years now. I am a disabled man, but I am "able" to do many things. I have had wonderful experiences with both the residents, as well as our fine, capable, thorough staff! As is always the case in life there are pluses & minuses. Yet, I have noticed that we always try our very best to find the "silver-lining" in life's challenges!

Moving my father from his home to assisted living was emotionally overwhelming, and five siblings had to agree on the decision. Thanks to the staff and many meetings, we confidently made the best choice for our father's care. The staff is now our extended family.

Wonderful experience with my mom at Somers Place, anything she needs at any time. Everyone is friendly and helpful. After a fall she was able to have all the help she needed, so I didn’t have to worry about anything. Family atmosphere and a beautiful place, highly recommended.

Somers Place was a little smaller in terms of the number of rooms. It seemed to be a little more intimate. Also, it is within 5 miles of my sister's home, so I have family close by. The staff had no problems giving me as much time as I wanted to look around. They took me on the tour. I met several of the residents. It just seemed to be a very homey environment. At that time, they were dyeing Easter eggs because a couple of days later, they were inviting their grandchildren over for an Easter egg hunt, so that was cool. Also, they were having a little sing-a-long because they had somebody playing the piano; they were singing tunes from the 1940s. The home is a made into a great big square with an open courtyard in between -- it was beautiful. Also, since there are no outside doors except for the front entry, the dementia people knew that they could get to the inside square. I also could tell that they really keep the place together maintenance wise. The hallways were 6 feet wide and they had railings on both sides of the hallway. I think that's important. Outside their rooms, each resident put something out that was personal to them. Most of them put out an end table and they had pictures of themselves or pictures of their grandkids. So there was personality and it wasn't just a wreath hanging and a name sticker on the resident's door. It was more of a home.
