Legacy of Delano was good. It is lower cost than most of the other ones. They don't have a lot of amenities, but that is OK with us. We were impressed with the lower cost, and that the staff was very nice and very helpful. They have a chapel, which doubles like an exercise room, so there is no official exercise room with equipment or anything. The facility seemed to be kept nice and there were no smells that you get sometimes in some of those places, so that was good. The rooms were very small, but from what I've looked at from other places, they're very small everywhere. We like the location. It's more out of the city and closer to where our son lives. We can do without the extensive amenities, so it would have suited us nicely. The staff was very good. She was very helpful, upbeat, and very kind. She called a week or two afterward to see if we made any decisions.

This place started out being a very good place but as time progressed and my Mom needed more care it drastically declined! The food for memory care is lacking, suppose to be the same as the other residents there but frequently get leftovers and reheated, dry food, and then residents are left to sit there waiting to be returned to their rooms while staff cleans up dishes. My Mother was left in her room and had a serious fall and no one found her for quite some time and she had a serious head injury..now she is on a downhill slide. Just this morning my sister in-law showed up unexpected and found my Mom in her transport chair, the kind that is a walker also, not a comfortable chair at all, her head was hanging and she was tired and uncomfortable and saying how thirsty she was, so I am assuming they had not given her anything to drink even at breakfast, and right now I am so pissed off at this place and their lack of compassion for older people I could spit nails. This is the same chair that she supposedly just slid out of at dinner the day before!!!! This place needs to improve drastically and get more experienced employees who actually care about elderly people and their feelings.

When I moved in to the legacy I had to give a six hundred dollar deposit and was told it would be refunded if I moved out. Well I moved out October 2o & gave my notice. I called Alex and told him I would not be returning, he said I could not do that, it was a breech of lease and other commitments. However I was not under lease & there were no other commitments. He insisted other wise. I had a friend call him him & inform him that u cannot hold a person against their will so then Alex admitted there was no lease but that he had to have it it in writing that I was moved out of the legacy. I did put this in and mailed and my daughter cleaned a apt and left it spotless. I then called him about my deposit and was told by him it's a non refundable deposit. I have also continued to be charged up to December 3 for rent even though I was living in Arizona.
I also want to comment on the button around our necks to push in case we fall or encounter other problems. When I pushed it for help it was at least 30 minutes before anyone came. One lady never received any answer so she called on her phone and was told they were busy. As for the food, I knew of two that moved because of the food. If we don't go down to eat it we are charged anyway.
I currently am looking at a final bill for 185.44. At least it's i hope its final. I can only say the good was the people I've met there. The ones who lived there. I would in no way recommend this place to anyone.

Mother is living in The Legacy and she's doing well there. She's exactly one mile away from me, which is really nice. It is convenient for me and familiar to her. We are able to get the largest one-bedroom there. They have a ton of activities every single day and she starts getting busy with an exercise group that exercises in the morning. They have trips on Thursday. She participates in ecumenical services.
There is one thing that we are not thrilled about and that is when you live there, you are 100% in their food program. My mother is night owl. She's never an early bird. So, she never eats the breakfast. So, that's one-third of the meal that she didn't eat. The other two meals, they do a heavier meal at lunch and a lighter meal at night. I think we like that flip-flop. We meet with the food people and they say they are going to change some things around and they have not. I think there's too much for carbs and too many food preparers and not enough for cooks and chefs. I think the quality can be better on the food.
As far to the facility and the attentiveness on a scale of one to five I will say a four for sure. The one thing that knocks them down is the food. They come every Monday to clean her individual apartment. It is very clean and when she a have different issue like with the air-conditioner, they are there within minutes which is nice.
