We were going to Lake Minnetonka Shores, which is a beautiful facility, but my brother felt he was being institutionalized. He has some issues with change and so because it was kind of throwing him into a depression, we backed off, and now he's going to remain in the home. It wasn't the facility at all, it just was the whole idea of moving. Lake Minnetonka Shores seemed nice. I think it's a good place. They have a pontoon boat and they take people out in the summer. They have a movie theater down on the lower level. I like the idea of cafeteria-style dining where you can go choose what you want rather than just accepting macaroni and cheese or whatever the meal is, so you get some choices. There were a lot of things I liked. Other places may have that, too, but those are the things I noticed here. The staff were good. I didn't have any problems with them. The room was a studio size. The bathroom was much nicer and wheelchair accessible. The size and cleanliness of it was nice. The room had a full kitchen, which was kind of a surprise. I was happy to see that, and I thought that would help my brother be comfortable there, but other things happened. They have basic cable, and they would have had Life Alert. To me, it seemed like it had everything he needed. It was clean and everything seemed good. We only worked with the receptionist, and the one who walked us around, and I had no problems with them.

I looked at Presbyterian Homes at Lake Minnetonka Shores. It's a large campus, but it covers all types of care. They're excellent in all that they do, and the staff was great. They had a lot of activities. They have memory care, assisted living, and senior living.

Lake Minnetonka is newly renovated and looked very friendly and warm. The staff was very helpful. The community rooms looked very good, and they had a wonderful library. The residents seemed to like it very much.

We chose Lake Minnetonka Shores because we heard good things about Presbyterian Homes. The people seemed happy there. They had more graduated pair, you can do assisted living and independent living or little care as much as you needed and you can add to it. My dad has a little studio apartment. It's really nice and clean. He has meals, there's a nurse 24 hours and shuttle service that take them shopping and outings. There are lots of activities inside the building to participate in. We've been really happy with it.
