I went to Brookdale Eddy Pond West. The person we met was fantastic. She gave us all the information we needed, and kind of guided us toward the difference between assisted living versus my father's needs. They have a memory care unit which my father may need if his condition progresses further, but he has other physical disabilities as well. They will not be able to care for him in the future, so the staff recommended a couple of other places. She was extremely useful. The tour of the building was fantastic, too. They had a very nice facility. The dining halls were very nice. Not touring a whole lot of others, I would've been very happy placing my father there knowing that they had some other areas outside the building. There were green spaces with some seating available. There's the east area, which kind of goes around the hill, and it looked very nice up there as well. They had a patio outside, and some people were sitting outside when we first got there.

My mom will be moving to Brookdale Eddy Pond West. The place was well set up. It seems like the people were happy in the place, the people were very friendly. We looked at a few other places and a lot of the buildings are very similar, but I like the setting of Brookdale Eddy Pond West's buildings. It's right up the main road, but it's kind of in the woods at the same time so that's nice. I haven't tried the food but I went at a meal time and the food looked very good. I'm a salad person so it looked great. On the activities side, if you want to do something they'll try to create an activity for you. Like if you have a certain interest, they'll look for a couple of people so you could do the activity with others at the same time. I thought that was nice.

I've been to Brookdale Eddy Pond West in Auburn because that's where my mom was, and my dad was there for a little bit at one point too. She was there for only about a month and a half before she passed. She was in their assisted living right before Thanksgiving. She enjoyed it. They tried to get everybody involved with different activities. They had the kids come and do an outdoor Halloween costume parade. They had different kinds of things that the community would do every week. A couple of times a week they had different social events, so they certainly tried to get their members active and participating, and enjoying each other's company. I don't know if it's because they're a little understaffed with the pandemic and COVID things, but sometimes it would take a little while after she would hit her call button to get somebody there. Overall though, it was a great experience. Her room was nice, it was a good size room. It could easily fit a bed, a chair, and a TV. She also had a little kitchenette with a refrigerator and a good-sized bathroom that was easily accessible for the handicapped. It was a good enough room. The maintenance seemed good too. They had just fixed up the bathroom right before she moved in to make sure everything was operational the correct way. Everything seemed clean. The nice big cafeteria was always clean and had different options for food every day. She said that the food wasn't too bad. I think maybe there are a few meals a week that she didn't enjoy as much as the others but overall, I think it was decent. Everybody was pretty friendly. I'd say the biggest negative thing is when she passed away. It was 2 days before Thanksgiving and they had said that per the contract, I had five days to move everything out of her place or else I'd have to pay for another month or whatever it would be. I don't know but just based on it being around the holidays, it would have been a little nicer to have a little bit more leeway for me to deal with my mom passing, cleaning out her apartment, and trying to also still enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with my family as much as I could.

I toured Brookdale Eddy Pond West and had a long interview with Melissa, who was giving the tour and doing the outreach. I asked her lots of questions, and she asked me a lot of questions too. It was very, very positive. I really liked her style. She was very interested in tailoring support and understanding what our needs were and how my husband and I might fit into the community. It was excellent. Memory care is not what we need at this time, but we looked at both assisted living and memory care. The fact that we could stay in the assisted living and just bring in support, meant we could probably stay at the assisted living level together. The two-bedroom apartment was lovely. It was a little bit small, but not bad at all. It seemed to have everything that we would need. I also thought the layout of their community rooms was nice. There were a lot of places for people to gather in small groups that was very positive as well. Probably the thing that was the most attractive to me was how engaged the residents were with one another. I really saw a lot of people interacting with one another, laughing, having a good time, and good conversations; that's what I was looking for as a community. A place where my husband and I can sit, and he especially, can get the support of having others to engage with. The dining area was large. It's a little bit overwhelming for him, but I think it seems to be working very well for the residents. They were well spread out, but engaging with one another. We were there around lunchtime and felt like they had a good menu, choices, and nice meal plans.

My parents have been in Brookdale Eddy Pond West for two weeks now, and everyone has been very helpful, very kind, and very happy there. They are comfortable and felt at home right after the first day. We've been able to get the services they need, which is a great relief to us. The place is clean and well kept, and they dealt with COVID correctly. My parents have a two-bedroom, two-bath, handicap-accessible room. It has a kitchenette with a fridge in it, a microwave, and a sink. They have a little dinette table where they can sit and eat, or they have a choice to go into the dining room and eat there, too. The facility also offers a three-bedroom option. They happen to be on the first floor with a walk-out sliding door that opens up to a patio, which makes it really nice. They have laundry services, cleaning services, meal preparation, and nurses going in and helping them. They are able to switch from primary care and have them take minor things at the facility. They also do card games, but they are just starting to open everything up. They love the food, as well.

The facility is nicely kept and the staff has been friendly and welcoming until covid arrived. The "apartment" is rather tight. The food, however, is deplorable. It is either overcooked or under cooked, and often what is ordered on the daily menu is not what they receive on the meal cart. These people have little to look forward to at their age, so one would think a facility which charges as much as they do would at least let them enjoy the meals they look forward to each day.

I like Brookdale Eddy Pond West for my father. It was at the top of my list. The rooms were average, but clean. They were extremely friendly. The room that I looked at was a single studio, and there was a kitchenette, a bathroom and an ample space for a bed of your own.

My grandmother lives here and the building is nice along with the apartments however, for the price people pay to live here it is lacking in some important areas. One of which is that the activities are always the same which leaves my grandmother bored a lot of the time.

The staff at Brookdale Eddy Pond West were all very nice to me. I had lunch there, and their dining room is nice, with a lot of tables for four. I can afford to stay at this facility, with the rent at $125 for a studio apartment.

The location of Brookdale Eddy Pond was good for me. It was local and easy to get to, and it seemed like a nice enough place. For outdoor activities, they had a lot of trips and a lot of things planned on their calendar to take people out for ice cream or to different shopping centers. Inside, they have the usual cards and activities, and they pick a country and have like an Italian Day. They had dances, and they had quite a bit going on for elderly people. From a price perspective, it's aligned as to what you get. The rooms were relatively small. The dining area was large, and it looked fairly clean. The grounds were OK -- not exceptional, but nice enough.
