We saw John Bertram House. The only reason we didn't choose it was because it was 2-1/2 hours on a good day from where I live, otherwise that was where Mom was interested in going. It's a beautiful old federal house that was built in the late 1800s. The person who assisted me was wonderful. The dining area looked beautiful too. It was all linen tablecloths and napkins and the food looked great. We saw some meals being prepared and it was all fresh fruit and salads, things like that. They take the residents to Salem State to participate in something called Explorers, which my Mom did when she lived in Salem. There are classes that Salem State offers for senior citizens, so they take the residents to those if they're interested. There are activities going on in the building, but one of the things my Mom was interested in being able to continue are the classes at Salem State. They also do trips to Boston.

John Betram House is an assisted living facility located in Salem, MA. I work as a homecare nurse and usually visit this facility several times a year to perform several nursing duties. I feel safe when driving to John Betram house because it is located in a safe neighborhood. The surroundings of the facility look great. Seniors can easily access major hospitals with John Betram's house is located near Salem Hospital and Beverly hospital. Seniors have their own spacious apartments. The facility is kept neat by the 24 hour staff available. Staff also provides assistance with activities of daily living to seniors. Meals are provided three a day. The food that the facility serves looks well balanced and tasty. John Betram house is well guarded and staff members are usually on the lookout for wandering seniors. I would recommend John Betram's House to a senior who wants to live independently. The facility is also suitable for a senior with dementia because it provides great Alzheimer's care. Seniors can easily access Salem Hospital and Beverly, which are located 5-10minutes away.
