My aunt has moved to Sunrise of Newton's assisted living, it's a new facility. There had been normal complaints like her loss of dependence, and the food, but now she's settling in. Now she's getting her meds regularly, and her meals, and I think she's feeling a lot better. The people who work there seem fine. I see a little language barrier, but other than that, I think everybody's been very helpful. She was complaining about the food, but that was because she now has to eat at certain times of the day, like between 5:00 and 7:00 for dinner. Whereas before, she might not eat until 10:00 at night, and she was living at Mcdonald's and Dunkin Donuts, so this is much better. They have gardening, and I went there one day, she was making flower bouquets, and they have a whole list of activities. She comes and goes because she drives. It just seems there's enough to keep her busy if she wants to take part in it. I haven't eaten the food but I can honestly say that it looked pretty good. The place is gorgeous, it's very nice and clean. They're comparable in price. But they put her into a level where she needed to pay for extra services every day and they just got that taken off because she's functioning independently. So you have to watch the cost or have somebody oversee it. There's room for improvement on that in how they do it. They have beautiful coffee stations for the residents, they have beautiful furniture, and they have TVs everywhere with fireplaces. The overall appearance of the facility is very, very nice.

I like Sunrise of Newton. I like the openness of the hallways and the elevators. Because it's new, they were able to have more space. They took time to follow up and answer my questions. They have a fridge in the room, but of course, they don't have a stove. They have a backyard. They have grills and things like that out there.

Sunrise of Newton is smaller than the others I went to. It's a newer facility, and they're still working things out. It was nice, the rooms were average, the food was fine. The staff member was very knowledgeable, she had a friendly demeanor, and she knew her stuff. They had a theater, and they were doing activities in the memory center. Everything was clean.

I visited Sunrise of Newton for my parents, and the facilities were just very pleasing. If you went there because you were sick and you wanted to recuperate, it's like you went to a ski lodge. It was like a spa, and the design was very nice. The library was beautiful it had a fireplace. The place makes you feel like you're on vacation. It was nicely decorated. The rooms were roomy and big. Some of the rooms in all the other places where on the small side, but this one is roomy. The one who toured us I would give a five, except when we started talking about the cost of the respite stay. They had two costs: one if you came directly from a rehab and another is afterwards like if you're already from home (or if you came from home). It wasn't clear about what the price was. It seems that if you went to a home first and came in, it was cheaper than going straight from rehab. It didn't make sense, because she was trying to tell me that the package going straight from the hospital was cheaper; but I was doing the math, and it doesn't add up. I think she realized that and followed up with an email, saying sorry that she was confusing. I just thought that was a little bit strange.
