Maplewood is a lovely, warm and inviting assisted living facility. My mother-in-law moved into Maplewood about three months ago and we have been so impressed with every aspect of the community. The physical campus is beautiful and includes very well decorated and inviting common areas and spacious apartments. The management is top notch and provides a personal touch by getting to know each resident and their family. The activities are one of the best parts of the experience at Maplewood. My MIL loves participating in many of the offerings, including musical entertainment, spiritual services, and gatherings in "the pub". We feel so relieved to have my MIL in such a safe, friendly, caring and beautiful environment. It's wonderful!

I joined the Maplewood at Weston community nine months ago because it offered a level of care and caring that far surpassed the other assisted living facilities I was considering. It was one of my better decision. Executive Director Bernardo has assembled a staff that is professional, responsive and knowledgeable. My apartment is well-appointed and immaculate, thanks to Housekeeping and Maintenance personnel, and it has a beautiful, off-the-balcony view of the Charles River. The Wellness staff, especially the Aides, go above and beyond by providing physical and emotional support that is rare in today's medically challenged world. There are many diverse activities offered throughout the week, and the one comment that is echoed by visitor after visitor is that Maplewood resembles a lavish, swanky hotel. Bernardo's weekly "check-in" visits make me feel as though I am a valued member of the community, and I look forward to watching how Maplewood responds to the healthcare demands of the future.

After 2 years of having a parent at MW, I cannot recommend it. In fact, I would avoid it. Bottom line: They did not deliver as promised.
Positives: They managed Covid well, the food is good, the common areas are nice, individual caregivers are generally pleasant.
Negatives: Administration is a mess, behind the scenes the building is run down, services not delivered as promised, high staff turnover, staff "passes the buck", way overpriced, parking is a disaster, impersonal and institutional, they are intentionally not transparent in their assistance point system.
This place is very much about maximizing the money they make and not so much about delivering quality care.
Both my parents live at Maplewood
My parents are both 95 years old and live in a 2-bedroom apartment in the assisted living section. The staff is incredibly nice, accommodating, and helpful. My parents are both happy and have good things to say about the meals.

Maplewood at Weston was incredible. It was like designer everything. The apartment was nice, too. The only reason we didn't go with them is that my husband had an infection this winter and was hospitalized for a long time. He was in a wheelchair when I took him out there. We were trying hard to get him out of that wheelchair. He's having physical therapy and exercising, but they didn't have their own facility there. However, that is the most beautiful assisted living facility I've ever seen.
The staff was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. She still followed up, even after I told her we were going someplace else. She just wanted to see how I was doing because she knew I was going to have surgery. She's very good. I can't say enough good things about the place or for the help. They were great. They've won awards. It's quite a place.
The food was better than most restaurants that I've been to. The fresh salmon salad was really good.

Maplewood provided a respite apartment for my father on short notice when an urgent need emerged. They provided a seamless transition incorporating him in the community with activities, care, and good food. The staff was very responsive to our questions, and attended to the safety and wellbeing of my father as he adjusted in his new home. The management team is excellent.

The Staff was extremely friendly and courteous to every member of my family that came to visit my grandmother during her stay. She still raves about staff still months after her stay. The facilities are well maintained and they had great dining options for her to choose from . I highly recommend Maplewood at Weston!!

The rooms are spacious and clean, great service from staff and nurses. I love how they all know each other and know exactly how the residents like their food, activities and hobbies and dislikes. Very tentative care and always let us know how exactly they’re doing at Maplewood. Would recommend every family to visit and stay at Maplewood.

The staff and Management - both in Assisted Living and Memory Care are outstanding, caring individuals. My Mom was in Assisted Living and my Dad is in Memory Care. They both have received excellent treatment and I feel my parents have always been very safe and well cared for. Its a great place.

s most children of a senior in need of assisted living, we wanted to make sure that we chose a place that was well maintained and where our Mom would feel at home and well cared for. Maplewood meets all of these requirements. It is a lovely residence that is well maintained and overseen by a superior caring staff. The rooms are well proportioned and kept in good shape. The food is varied and healthy and there is a large variety of activities for the residents. Bernardo sets a tone of friendliness, teamwork and responsiveness. In these times, it is critically important that we are kept apprised of the health and safety of the residents and the staff, and Bernardo does an exceptional job in that regard. Maplewood is not inexpensive but we feel that our Mom is getting great care and is safe and happy.

My mother has been a resident at Maplewood for a couple of months now and I have been extremely happy with the transition. The facility is beautifully appointed, food is excellent and the rooms are very spacious complete with fully appointed kitchens and private balconies.
There are plenty of activities to keep the residents engaged throughout the day- musical programs, yoga, swimming, chapel services, lectures and movies.
Bernardo and his staff go the extra mile to make sure all of the residents are happy, safe and well cared for. I couldn’t think of a better place for my Mom.

Between my elderly parents and mother-in-law, our family has now experienced 3 assisted and independent living facilities in the Boston area over the past three years, and Maplewood is excellent in many respects. No place is perfect, but Maplewood definitely receives between a 4 and 5 star rating taking everything into consideration, and we have no regrets making the difficult decision to move my dad there this fall.
Administration: One of the best assets of Maplewood is the director. He has a very positive attitude and he likes to say that he runs Maplewood “like a cruise ship." He greets everyone, is always available for questions or problem solving, and is very responsive and efficient. At the other two facilities I never saw a senior administrator over many visits.
The Maplewood model is to bring assisted living services to the apartment and not have a separate area for assisted living. This works very well for residents that need some help with bathing, dressing, food, etc., because they stay in the community with everyone but get more services within their own apartment. At other places, the assisted living residence and dining areas are separated from the independent living residents, resulting in less integration of assisted living residents into the larger community.
Facility: The facility was beautifully renovated in the past 5 years with a lovely setting by the Charles River in Weston. The apartments are overall a very good size for an assisted living facility, and my dad has a larger 700 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment. However, apartments do vary in size, so it is worth looking at all units that are available. Although the setting is very nice, the layout is not well suited for outdoor walks because of lack of sidewalks on Norumbega Road or other walking paths on the grounds. There is a large patio with outdoor seating but no great options for going for walks outside.
Activities: They list about 5 hours of activities/day including exercise classes. The activities staff are very approachable and accommodating, but there are only two people. We would like to see more staff to help remind residents of their activities, interact with residents with stimulating activities, and promote participation. Maplewood offers some outings and usually has some form of musical entertainment every week, but not a lot of classical music. The movie theatre room is quite comfortable. Another great feature of Maplewood is a social hour at 4:00 pm several days per week when residents gather for beverages and socializing.
Dining: The dining facility is a very nice area. There is plenty of food and the quality seems good with usually two choices at meals. I would rate the food as average, and have seen more gourmet options and variety of choices at other upscale facilities. There are always tables available, and no complaints about having to wait for the meal. Meal hours are very reasonable. Residents do complain about the service being slow and wait staff not too friendly, which could be due to a staffing shortage. We wish Maplewood had a Maître D’ to greet residents, assist with seating or supervise staff during meals; we experienced this at a different facility and found it very helpful.
Staff: Overall, Maplewood has one of the most courteous staffing of any place I have seen, from the front desk to the Director. The athletic director is also great and will tailor a program to fit anyone's needs. She has lots of exercise and stretching classes throughout the week if one doesn’t want to work out individually, but working with the athletic director several times a week is included in the rent.
Medical/Nursing: Be aware that Maplewood IS NOT a nursing facility. They have a memory unit, but if you have "nursing needs" such as wound care, injectable medications, etc., you have to hire someone privately or use VNA services. This is apparently due to State regulations but it can be frustrating to spend more money for even the most basic medical needs. You can pay extra for “medication management,” which means a staff person will come to the room to observe that medications are taken properly.
Maplewood is on the higher end of the cost spectrum, however, it is a rent by the month model so you don’t have to plunk down a lot of money to “buy in” to the facility. Comparable facilities can charge $500k-750k for the same type of residence with comparable monthly costs for assisted living. They also tend to have cost increases every year, and make sure you ask about their policy regarding the annual fee changes.
I hope they will hire additional activities staff to offer more programing, outings and engage more with residents as Covid restrictions are lifting. This has been a very difficult year for all the assisted living facilities, but our family feels they are keeping people safe and following all the State Guidelines.
Overall, residents are very positive about Maplewood and how well it is managed. Look at other places first, then compare it to Maplewood.

My family has been in three different facilities so I've had some comparisons between places.
COVID has definitely challenged all facilities. The facility itself looks beautiful -lovely common areas and individual rooms. The dining room staff took SO LONG to provide meals, it was challenging for my loved ones. Meals were okay. In general the front desk person was always helpful. Others were hard to get responses from including the Executive Director and Nurse, even when we had important issues to discuss. Facilities staff were challenged to get basic functions like heating to be fixed. One of the main things is that ALL staff need to be trained to be friendly and helpful to every resident. Staff need to develop ways to incorporate and help new residents integrate. Cost was high - as are most assisted living facilities. Very limited activities offered before COVID hit and then none offered when COVID was high which was understandable. We had to visit in the parking lot talking to my loved ones. I wouldn't recommend this facility even though it has a lot of potential.

It is easy to see how lovely Maplewood is; it takes time to appreciate just how caring and kind all the staff is! My family is so grateful for each and every one of the staff at Maplewood, who give such kind and thoughtful attention to our loved one. My husband and I both work and don't have the time to devote to our family member; luckily she is happy and busy at Maplewood! Our family member at Maplewood loves the live music, the terrific trips to cultural events, the gym and the frequent interesting talks. The other residents are all very unique and interesting individuals, so there are a lot of stimulating conversations going on there!

Both of our parents moved into a senior living community at the same time with completely different personal challenges.
Our mother had significant mobility issues and father has Alzheimer’s.
After literally months of searching for an acceptable assisted living facility we finally made the transition.
While we were quite happy with the facility and staff, our parent’s conditions continued to progress. To our surprise we were eventually told that mother’s condition had progressed to a degree where the facility and staff were not able to provide adequate care and they recommended we find a new home.
Our challenge then was to find a facility that provided a beautiful environment and competent staff with a level of care that we learned is difficult to find at most Assisted Living communities.
We were so greatly relieved when we found Maplewood at Weston which provides dedicated memory care as well as exceptional assisted living care. A beautiful, fully refurbished facility with a fantastic staff under the direction of Bernardo Gubert, Executive Director.
Even during the height of the Covid outbreak, which was particularly stressful for all retirement communities, the degree of communication and transparency that we consistently received and continue to receive has been exceptional and very reassuring.
Finally, when our mother began to succumb this past April, the Maplewood facility and staff continued to provide the dire support that we needed, along with specialized third-party palliative care that we brought in to support our mother within the “at-home” setting of her own apartment.
My brothers and myself highly recommend Maplewood at Weston in all categories including environment, function, and a caring and capable group of people who make up Maplewood’s management and staff of caregivers.

My mom has been a resident at Maplewood's assisted living facility for almost 3 years. She enjoys excellent interactions with staff, aides, nursing and management. The executive director is very caring and attentive, and the facility reflects his positive, kind and competent personality. There are many activities to participate in, and my mom enjoys the exercising, flower arranging and birdwatching, among others. Maplewood's attentiveness, kindness and caring of my mother, is helping her age with respect and dignity. Thank you!

From the professional and caring staff to the state of the art facilities to the many community activities, Maplewood has it all. They took such good care of my mother and made her feel a part of the Maplewood community. Our family was in good hands with Maplewood and we would recommend Maplewood to other families.

My Mother has been a resident at Maplewood for over 3 years. There have been many changes at Maplewood and over the year for the better! The director is very involved in all aspects of the facility from residents, to staff to general management issues. When I recently called him to ask for some help for my mother on a particular morning, my request was gladly fulfilled. The staff are very caring and try to make life as cheery as possible for the residents. Now that activities are back, life is more enriching for all. The pandemic was handled tightly and thankfully without any big outbreak of Covid. The way a business is run starts from the top down. Maplewood does exactly that. Thank you for making my almost 100 year old mother as comfortable and happy as she can be.

I just visited my aunt recently and realized I’ve been remiss in not expressing how appreciative our whole family is with Maplewood at Westin! The staff is so wonderful! They are caring and compassionate and are full of good cheer! It is our families good fortune that we found and selected Maplewood. The decor, dining services, activities, and cleanliness could not be better! My sincere thanks to all the dedicated staff associates who make Maplewood a real hone for my aunt!!

Almost 2 1/2 years ago my wife’s condition found us needing the availability of 24 hour help. Coming from Weston we searched the Boston suburbs for an assistant living facility to fit our needs. It yielded several, all of whom were okay but Maplewood in Weston had a “feel” that set it apart. We chose it and have had no regrets. The staff, available for skillful help of all kinds 24 hours a day, have been great, the food excellent and management attentive. Sadly my wife passed, but with dignity with the kids around in spite of the pandemic. Our choice of Maplewood was excellent. It has been SAFE during the pandemic, all vaccinated plus we get tested weekly. Maplewood continues to be my choice going forward.

I would like to tell you about the best move I ever made and it was to Maplewood Weston.
First I loved the location –close to Rte 128 and the Mass Pike and about 5 minutes from Newton Wellesley Hospital and an Urgent Care facility.
Next, my 2 bedroom apartment is bright and spacious and I also get weekly housekeeping and laundry. I enjoy my 3 meals a day with fresh menu choices and eating in the white tablecloth dining room, or I can get meal delivery to my apt. if I so choose. In addition, the chef and kitchen staff are so accommodating to individual requests.
My favorite part of the day revolves around exercising. There is a Gym that is managed by an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful physical therapist. There are many group classes and individual training is available too no matter what your physical condition. I also use the Olympic size pool for swim classes twice a week.
There are many activities including music, lectures, painting, a comfortable movie theatre. I have been able to provide a live recording of Fri. night religious services and refreshments that many residents enjoy.
Another perk for me is the underground garage where I conveniently park my car, or if weather is bad I can take the complimentary car service to a Dr.’s appointment.
The Maplewood staff-administration, CNAs, & maintenance I find to be friendly, efficient, and very responsive. There are different levels of care to address anyone’s needs.
I have to add that I really appreciate the care taken around the Covid pandemic. Initially, a very strict visitor policy was put in place to keep us safe. We were among the first to get the vaccine, and, testing and temperature-taking continue to this day.
To sum it up, I wholeheartedly recommend Maplewood to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, friendly, busy, vibrant, caring independent/assisted living community in which to live.

Do not be fooled by this facility. It is beautiful. Really one of the nicest we have seen. However they have some serious problems with staff, safety and quality. We moved my dad in with the highest hopes for compassionate care and socialization. However, it was a disaster. NONE of the services we contacted for were provided. Its not that they did a poor job, they were not provided. No wellness checks, no daily housekeeping, no laundry, no bed making, no mobility assistance - nothing. Every time we asked the front desk we were referred to a different someone who was "off that day". The front desk staff always seemed to be like it was the first 5 minutes on the job, like candid camera - they didn't know anything about their own facility or who to call.
No one their could even tell us where to park - I have never seen anything like it. I expected that on move in there would be some sort of on boarding, where the head of every department came by and introduced themselves and explained their role - this would be helpful but they do not have that. It felt like a beautiful, unmanned facility. The only caregivers I ever saw, and I was there daily were private hired by residents, as we did as well. If it were not for our caregiver who was there to help with the transition, I do not know what would have or could have happened to him with such neglect.
Further their pharmacy messed up his medication, putting him in the hospital. After 8 days we pulled him out because it was unsafe.
Do your self a favor and read employee reviews from indeed or glassdoor. I should have.

Maplewood at Weston is a beautiful assisted living facility. Overall, I have been very happy that I moved my parents there. Many of the staff members are exceptional, including the Executive Director who is warm, welcoming, and extremely responsive. My parents have a two-bedroom apartment that overlooks the river, and enjoy delicious meals 3 x a day. We have been especially thrilled that my non-ambulatory, 96-year-old father is swimming several times a week in the beautiful, on-site pool with help from the resident fitness director, who is a trained physical therapist. I have mixed reviews of the caregiving staff - some are excellent, but others would benefit from closer supervision.

I visited Maplewood at Weston. They have no studios but they have 1-bedrooms. They were very spacious and very nice. The person that was there, I guess one of their sales people, she was extremely forthcoming, very knowledgeable, and was able to get a lot of information for me. She followed up with me several times when my uncle had some relapses with pneumonia. She called to see how he was doing and how things were coming along. They showed me the menu. I would like to stay there for lunch, but they were restricted other than the residents using the dining area because of distancing, etc. The facade was beautiful. The setting was lovely. It's a nice location. The building itself was excellent. It was beautiful, clean and well kept.

My parents moved to Maplewood from Florida in November 2019 to be closer to the rest of our family, mostly in the Boston area. While they have had some challenges in adjusting, as well as some medical issues, my family is really glad we chose Maplewood. The staff is diligent and attentive; the nurses are very capable and caring; the food is good; the activities are often terrific. My folks' apartment is spacious and lovely. In addition, my parents have made friends, are busy, eat well, take all their meds, and get regular exercise, as well as physical therapy. My dad says everyone wants to sit with them at dinner!

Spacious, clean, beautiful rooms. The residents and staff are wonderful here. The staff at Weston are very helpful and would do anything for their residents. The residents enjoy going on outings, spending time outdoors and seeing entertainers who come in. Highly recommend this facility

As an outside vendor, I have been caring for patients at Maplewood for several years as a hospice nurse. The extended nursing hours is key and the nursing staff is very helpful in making sure my patients/families loved ones , get the medications that they require. There are many activities in Assisted as well as in Memory Care that residents appear to enjoy-especially the music and live entertainment !! Staff is available 24/7 to help all residents-There are multiple common areas as well as private dining areas that families are able to gather to celebrate special events, private conversations or just have a quiet family meal. They also encourage families to stay in place and adjustments are made to their care plans as to not cause any disruption or confusion to loved ones.

Maplewood is an exceptional senior living facility. Our mom has been living there for about 6 months and we couldn’t be more satisfied. The staff, especially Ellen Davis, is terrific—very caring and understanding. The food is quite good and the physical facilities are beautiful. They try to get all of the residents involved in activities, which was quite important for us, but they respect your privacy as well. The apartments are lovely and well maintained. We couldn’t be happier with our decision for our Mom.

My parents are here and I'm not pleased with the facility. The building is very nice and has been under renovation for six months. The staff is friendly. However, getting their money is their#1 priority. When your parent goes to the hospital, they still charge for services for 8 days saying the schedule is set, but they manage to resume the day you get back. We have been trying for 10 days to contact the director of residence services and she won't call us back, and we've needed to have an overnight aide as a result. I know it's hard to do research when you need an assisted living facility, but beware.

Maplewood at Weston was very nice but very expensive. The memory unit was recently rebuilt and gorgeous. I liked it very much. The whole assisted living was being renovated. It is big and in the woods. The memory unit seemed very nice. The food was very good. I didn’t observe the activities, but the list looked very good.

The rooms at Maplewood were very high class, well-appointed, and well kept up. They have reasonably sized rooms. Quite a posh dining room and no problems with the hallway, but I don’t think it was well managed.

Maplewood at Weston was in the process of completely redoing the interior. They had both one and two-bedroom apartments. The two-bedroom was in a small size, but it was livable. They had a wonderful calendar of events. They had a very sort of intellectual approach to their calendar. I wasn’t just like playing bingo. They had really good speakers and musicians. The staff was very good in answering questions. When I left there, they gave me a lemon and poppy seed cake. I liked it there.

We did visit Maplewood at Weston. Some of the rooms were being renovated, but we did get to see one that somebody was occupying already, so we have an idea of how they looked when they’re done renovating. They had a pool, a gym room, and a library. It was very nice. The dining area looked good. It was clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and very nice. What I like about Maplewood was that the rooms had balconies, and that was something that you wouldn’t see anywhere else.

I am in Maplewood at Weston. The staff is super. They are very nice. I have a disability,, and they take very good care of me. I am happy with the food, and I don't see any problem. I have a great handicap-equipped room. It is something that I love. If I am single, this is the kind of apartment that I will rent. The security is fine, absolutely no problem.
