I visited Ivy Hill Assisted Care. It's very friendly and I loved the location. It was not too far from a church that I love. They have libraries nearby, the location was excellent, and the house itself was beautiful.
The room was very accommodating for my needs. I had a lot of stuff to move in; I would have no problem with that, and I believe it came with a bathroom. It was clean and it was an old building; I like older buildings. It's a beautiful place, I loved it so much.
The staff members were so friendly. I think they were genuine. They were very warm and friendly.
Amenities include food, laundry, medication management, and doctors that come in, and you don't have to go to them. They go out to concerts. I thought that would be lovely to do myself. It's a lovely room above the street. Nice grounds around it, and a big parking lot in the back. I liked it. They have no swimming pool, and no gym.

The Stevens-Bennett home is a wonderful assisted-living home for elderly ladies, I always got the sense that the ladies were well taken care of snd happy in their environment. The staff is kind and caring, and even the admin knew all the ladies by name.
Meals are served in the dining room, and families are encouraged to 'stay for dinner' and were treated as special guests.
There are activities that include bingo, crafts and sing-a-longs. Activities are well-attended, and participation by everyone is encouraged by the staff. Various community groups visit from time to time, including crafts, chorus groups and visiting therapy pets.
Each lady has a large private room, and families are encouraged to bring in furniture and wall art from home to decorate their loved ones personal space.
Each floor also has a sunroom with comfy furniture, bookshelves and a table for puzzles or crafts.
The one negative is that bathrooms are shared. There are 4 bathrooms on each floor, which is shared by 8- 10 ladies. Inevitably, there is occasionally a wait to use a bathroom.
When my mom was living there, I used to joke with the nurses that I wanted to get my name on the waiting list :)

Stevens-Bennett Home is a beautiful, beautiful old house. It's a place specifically for women only. They have probably the usual activities you find in a nursing home. They do games in the afternoon. They have a woman who comes in once a week and does nails, gives all the ladies manicures. They do cognitive-type exercises and physical exercises. The staff was very helpful. They answered all our questions. I can't give them enough of a recommendation. It's a very wonderful facility.
