I have had a family member in this facility and felt that the staff was poorly paid and inattentive. They spend the majority of their time in groups visiting whenever I was in the facility. They don't seem to be really well trained in the care of elderly and I did witness some rough handling of the residents. The price of this facility is somewhat less than others in the area but remember that you usually get what you pay for. The feel of this facility is more of a nursing home instead of care facility. The furnishings are outdated and smelly, many of them broken down and hard for the residents to get up from. The building needs upgrading. I would definitely not put a relative there given the choice.

Cedar Crest Residential was a small privately operated facility. The staff was very attentative, patient, out going, and kind with the residents. They always communicated well with me concerning any issues that came up. I was allowed to visit any time day or night and they provided many activities, holiday festivities and met all medical and emergency needs.

I recently visited Cedar Crest Residential Center while looking for an assisted living facility for a family member. This was not the facility that we ended up choosing. Although the grounds outside appear to be well-kept, the overall feel of the facility was not favorable. When first entering the building it seemed very dark and a bit depressing. The facility does need some TLC and would benefit greatly by updating the look and making it much brighter. It is a larger facility than others we visited, so a resident's room could definitely end up being well in the back or out of the main stream of things. The dining room is large with individual tables and seating for 4 people (if I remember correctly). The feel is more of a nursing home rather than an assisted living facility as is becoming more common today. The manager/owner was very helpful in answering our questions. The cost of the facility does come in about $500/month less than the others in this location (base rate). The facility is scheduled to undergo some remodeling and plans are in effect to turn at least part of it, into a skilled nursing facility. In speaking with others who have had a relative in Cedar Crest, I did receive both positive and a negative feedback "“ one indicating that their parents did not receive prompt responses when staff was called to help with a situation of a fall (they waited at least 30 minutes) to others saying that their relative received very good care while they were a resident. Perhaps it comes down to the amount of time the family member spends with the resident. If considering this facility, I would recommend doing further research and keeping in close contact with the resident. Overall, I would give this site 3 stars. I prefer a more open, cheerful and bright (lots of sunshine) for a resident who may already be facing a difficult time in their life. This was more of a old-style nursing home, in my opinion.
