My mom has been in Highland Estates for two weeks now. I think it's a great community. She's happy there. The price is reasonable, the place is very clean, and it smells good. She is sharing a room; however, nobody is in there with her yet, so she got it on her own. It's a nice room, it's well-appointed, and it's big enough. She got a bed, a TV and a chair. She got a comfortable room for her. It's got a little kitchenette area.
The staff are all great. We haven't had any issues. They have chair exercises every morning. They have manicures. They play bingo. They go on little trips. My mom hasn't done any of those yet, but they're there to do. The dining area is very nice and very well-appointed. The tables are set up for four people, and my mom shares a table with three other women. Everybody is very friendly. It looks like the service is really good. They come and get her and take her to the dining room. The food smells good and it looks good. I haven't eaten the food, but it looks good, and it seems like it's plentiful. It looks decent. They charge quite a bit for people that come in from the outside to eat. Like if I was going to eat with my mom, they want $10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch, and $20 for dinner, and I think that's a little excessive. But I don't have to eat there, so it's not necessarily a problem, but I just thought it was a little excessive.

We went to see Highland Estates. During the tour, the person who took us through was very nice. She introduced us to lots of different people. They even brought us treats out from the kitchen. Everything about their presentation was very clear. They were concise on their pricing and the understanding of what's covered, what's not, and what's inclusive. They were very informative and gave us lots of good information. It was a very good experience. They take the residents out periodically. They have a van that takes them to doctor's appointments, a hairstylist on duty, and somebody comes in once a month to do nail care. They showed us a list of the activities and the calendar that they have. They were very thorough.
