Nationally acclaimed senior management leader, Life Care Services Corporation, of Des Moines, Iowa, collaborated with Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo, a world renowned architectural firm based in Honolulu, to bring the developer's concept to reality using the latest trends and concepts found in upscale retirement communities on the mainland.

OKSL opened for occupancy on October 10, 1997 offering 166 fee simple independent living condominiums consisting of 1B/1B, 2B/1B and 2B/2B floor plans, an in-house, 24 hour a day, assistance in living program licensed by the State of Hawaii, and Hale Ola Kino, a 32 bed, medicare and medicaid licensed skilled nursing facility (SNF) located in-house on the 2nd floor.

My parents moved here almost 5 years ago, choosing 1K over all other possible senior living facilities because: 1) you can own your unit, meaning you can will it to your children, you have equity in the unit; 2) the residents are a nice mix of races, ages, and interests; 3) there are on-going programs for culture, music, lectures, entertainment and medical visits; 4) food is really good, including fresh fish and fresh fruit every day (and the fish is cooked to your order); staff are friendly, warm and pleasant; and (5) nursing floor is in the building!!! so if one spouse needs help in getting well, the other spouse can visit all they want, no need to go to a different place. I want to be old enough to live here, too!

We liked One Kalakaua Senior Living. It was the best. I liked the atmosphere, and the people seemed very nice. They had a lot of activities, and it was in a very convenient location. I liked the fact that you could only go for one meal a day. You bought your place, so it had some equity.

We have placed my mother in a place called One Kalakaua. I think this place is a lot lower than the other properties that we visited. People are very attentive. They follow up well. So far, so good. No complaints. They're very good at following up.

One Kalakaua Senior Living is an assisted living facility in Honolulu, HI that offers its residents quality living and daily support services. The caregivers are expert and professionally manage the routine activity at the place. I have personally visited the facility with my grandfather last month and found it suitable for aging people. Food is excellent and balanced in nutritious value. The people in the facility are friendly and help each other in difficult times. Nursing facility is available 24 hours and health is given prime importance. It is the best to receive eldercare. Nursing staff on duty is very competent and skilled. The people are busy in various activities like gardening, pet care etc to live a better life. The atmosphere is tidy, neat and clean with all kind of facilities. I think it really serves the purpose of assisted living facility and allows a comfortable stay. It is highly recommended for blood relations.
