Winthrop West was a nice facility, and we have no complaints there. My father in law was there first, but it was a forty minute drive to see him. The people were very caring, and the staff was very nice. The rooms were very nice, and they gave us their model room for dad to use. The food was very good.

We placed my mother in Winthrop West mostly because of where they are located. Everything about the place is excellent. I am only there once a month. It is my sister who is there more often. She is not complaining, so I assume they are doing their job. It is a memory care center.

Winthrop West Senior Living is an assisted living facility specifically for dementia and Alzheimer's residents. (www.winthropwest.com). As such it is a secure building requiring family and other visitors to use a password to directly enter and leave. My mother is a resident since January 2011. The facilities are attractive and the staff is attentive. Each resident brings his/her own furniture and personal items to help the resident feel at home. Appropiate activities and/or crafts are programmed daily on the level of most residents. A printed monthly calendar of activities and events is provided for residents and visitors each month, featuring a resident and an employee, in addition to listing birthdays and showing photos of residents during special events and crafts. The staff participates in the annual local Alzheimer's Assoc. Memory Walk and enourages familes to participate and/or donate. My mother is confined to a wheelchair following a stroke and receives optional additional assistance with bathing and other personal needs. She wears an optional alarm necklace to call for help from the staff when needed. Our family is pleased with the quality of care that our mother is receiving at Winthrop West Senior Living.
