I did a tour of Hollander Senior Living of Monroe. It was defining, as far as making the decision about whether or not I want to put my dad in a home. It was kind of lost in time. The staff was pleasant, but she was filling in. She was not the subject matter expert. She didn't have a mask on until we actually began the tour (even though the signs on the door said we had to have one on). It was a little concerning, especially considering that she shared that they had a staff member positive. They were keeping all of the residents in their rooms. That's not a criticism, it's just that she should have had more knowledge. The facility is in need of upgrade and repair. The flooring in the main lobby was all unlevel and natural looking stone pavers, as a tile. They were very uneven, and it just seemed to be a trip hazard for somebody in a walker. I'm not sure it would have been very easy to roll your own wheelchair. I didn't see anybody try, but it didn't look conducive to impaired mobility. The carpeting was very worn, frayed, and almost a trip hazard at the threshold.

My parents are in Hollander Senior Living of Monroe. Everything is great. They like this place better than they did the last one. They like the food. My father likes everything. They have a big Halloween party and they have some children come around and go trick-or-treating. It's a wonderful atmosphere. They have a podiatrist come in and trim everyone's toenails. The staff is great, friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. They're on the lakeside and they have a patio and dad enjoys going out and sitting out there. They have plenty of closet space. They have a two-bedroom with a bathroom and a living room with a little kitchen and a refrigerator. It's exactly what they needed because they're 92 and 94. They check on them all the time. Somebody's always in the hall and always around. They always have activities going on when I go in. They have a facility there for my mom's hair and they have a barber shop. They are very much enjoying it. It's all one floor, it's nice, and they keep it clean. It's just a good place for them to be.

Hollander Senior Living of Monroe is very nice and very country. It's not really fancy, but it was homey and comfortable. The person who showed us around was delightful, had a lot of energy, and was sweet. The dining area looked good. There were some people watching movies, they had cards and a little library. It's not really new, so it looks sort of shabby, but the people were sweet.

My husband is at Hollander Senior Living of Monroe. The staff seems to be very caring. Anything that I've needed done or asked, they've been more than willing to try to accommodate. They have lots of activities for the whole community, for holidays like Easter and St. Patrick's Day. Everybody seems to work together and get along real well. They get it all accomplished. They are on top of the game with providing activities for the ones who are able to participate.
