My dad was in the Horizon Senior Assisted Living Facility for two months before he passed away. I like that it is easy to access, and it wasn't in the gated community. They had an outdoor area in case you had large parties wanting to visit. The woman that runs it locally has always been very responsive and accommodating to our requests and questions. It's really just a regular house, and they're using the bedrooms. One of them was super large. They used that for two people that shared the room at a cheaper rate. I do have one critique though; the facility itself, looks like an older design. When you go in there, it doesn't feel like you're stepping into a modern place. The design looks like it's a decade ago or even two decades ago. It looks like grandma's house. The food there was all home cooked. They make it there in the kitchen. My dad usually complains about what he eats, but he was always very happy with the food that was served there. It was usually food that was easier to digest. It's not a fancy menu, but he still enjoyed the flavor. He never complained about it, and he enjoyed the meal that they gave him. If they truly need just assistance with their lives, then yes, go ahead, and there they do a great job. But if they have any kind of medical condition, and you're trying to decide now between a nursing home and them, then don't go to Horizon, because at that point that there's some kind of medical condition that needs to be actively monitored, their staff isn't trained in that.
