About This Community

Welcome to Lakeshore Assisted Living

Lakeshore Assisted Living is a 20-resident care facility with a home-like environment unlike the conventional large institutionalized facilities. David Caldwell, owner of Lakeshore Assisted Living since 1999 will greet you personally during your visit of the facility. Our goal is to make the residents feel as if they have never left their homes. The many qualities of Lakeshore Assisted Living achieve this goal, with its serene and tranquil environment; unrivaled by any other communities, and along with its carefully selected staffs who are genuine and caring, truly enable residents to experience a happy, clean, and neat daily life.

When making this life changing decision such as choosing a home for a loved one, it is important for all family members to feel confident that they have made the best possible decision. Lakeshore Assisted Living is held in the highest esteemed with the Agency for Health Care Administration with no deficiencies in our last two surveys (out of 1500 items on the check list). We pride our self for doing the best, being the best and giving our all to each resident and residence to come.

Lakeshore Assisted Living stands out among assisted living facilities. Our community sits close to the shore of Lake Thonotosassa. There are four wooded acres of shade to enjoy provided by 100 year old oak trees. That and the home-like setting are features that set us apart from any other facility. The difference is more than cosmetic.

Our staff is truly amazing. They happily provide professional care for each individual. They selflessly share their own unique gifts and talents with residents and family members. They strive to make a positive difference in the daily lives of those dealing with personal challenges.

They also work very hard. Often, those providing superior community care are faced with less than ideal circumstances. However, separately and as a team, our staff has the courage and determination to perform tasks that are difficult physically and/or emotionally.

There is one overriding requirement for everyone on staff at Lakeshore Assisted Living. They have to love helping our residents and their families. And they do!!!

Thank you for your interest at Lakeshore Assisted Living. Please give us a call to schedule a free tour.

Lakeshore Living was a very old place and kind of rundown. When I first got there when I was walking to the building, the owner came out, and he had been doing manual labor; he was sweaty and not ready really for visitors. He actually kind of forgot that I had an appointment and was coming. That being said, he was very nice. He did go ahead and oblige me with the tour, but they had lost their license. They actually weren’t licensed at the moment, and there were no residents there. I guess there was something wrong with the paperwork like they were late sending in the paperwork, so they lost their license and had to send all of their residents to other facilities, and it disheartened me. David the owner was very nice and willing to show me the place. It had a very different feel, and it wasn’t as community; it was more like mom and pop kind of running a house sort of thing. It was also more of a room and board kind of thing as opposed to the whole community feel. They didn’t have a lot of social activities for the residents. Most of it was playing bingo and TV watching. It didn’t have a lot of privacy like residents kind of; it was like as if you are living in someone’s home. You didn’t have your own place to kind of retreat too. For some people, it would probably be a great place to stay. He specifically asked me if I gave permission for him to go meet my father at the rehab facility, and I specifically said no; I didn’t like that at all.

Lakeshore Living had beautiful pictures on the website of views looking out on the lake from the deck, but when I went there I had to go in through the kitchen to get to the office, and from there, it was all downhill. They had very small rooms, and everybody used the same bathroom.

Lakeshore was a little different from the others. It was a remodeled home and not designed for assisted living. It had a repurposed kitchen and items from a regular house. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and seemed nice. They might be able to improve on the overall appearance of the facility. It was not quite as professional looking as the others.
