While a resident of Concordia of Tampa ALF, my father was given another resident's medications which led to immediate hospitalization and subsequent death. The state investigated and found Concordia with many violations including violating state law. The administration was very cold to us and minimally cooperative with no apology. Its public record if you want to review.

I went to Concordia Village of Tampa (Formerly St. Joseph's John Knox Village). It would've been much too complicated for my mother on her own to be walking around because it's too big, too high and too many different areas. She would be lost. They have a nursing home, independent living, and assisted living. The room was fine, which was going to be a double occupancy because that's what I wanted for my 90-year-old mom. The staff was good. They've got a library, a room for family dining, and activities. If she was younger and on the ball, but had to live there, I would give it a 5.

I liked the way St. Joseph's John Knox Village did things. I liked the way it had been set up. We saw a studio with a bedroom and a little sitting room. The dining area looked inviting. It has really nice grounds. I just couldn’t expect any more from a place.

My husband moved in to St Joseph's John Knox Village. He's happy there so far. He has a small room to himself, and all the services are included. The dining room has a restaurant-like menu, and there is a swimming pool. He is paying a flat-fee price, not just for the rent, but also for all the meals and transportation every day, not just two times a week. The facility provides transportation to his doctors, Walmart, Walgreens, or wherever he wants to go. He can also make arrangements if he needed to go elsewhere. It's all-around service. The service is fantastic. There is a nurse on call in the place, and there are nursing assistants, also. On his floor, there is a nursing assistant. Plus, nurses cover two floors each, so there is help right there on the premises. The residents are treated very well. It's great.

St. Joseph’s Knox Village was very nice, but the rooms were very small for the kind of money that you have to pay. I will have to give up half of my furniture. If you decide to buy a unit then give it up or pass away someday, they take it back. It does not go down to your family and you cannot take the money back from it.
