I toured Sonata Vero Beach and it went fine. It was very clean. There was a woman they hired singing in the lobby while I was there. There were a lot of activities going on. Everybody was out and about. It was very nice. I looked at the studios and they were empty and small. So, you have to bring your own furniture, but they were clean. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very nice and knowledgeable. There was a little courtyard.

Sonata Vero Beach is a high-class and very professional place. They are very expensive. This place is what they call an ala-carte. You have your base price for the room. Then depending on your level of care, it goes up. They keep adding on for levels of care and what you need. It can get quite pricey. Everything is beautiful, and the amenities are there. They have three floors of rooms and elevators up and down. You bring your own furniture to furnish your own room. They are all single rooms. It was beautiful, but you decorate it yourself. I was surprised with that. The salesperson was incredible and wonderful. She knows her business, and she knows everything. She could answer every question and knows her job. The dining room is beautiful. They had a rousing game of bingo. They had room for puzzles. A lot of the residents come down and put together puzzles in the evening. They have a piano in the lobby. Some of the people are pianists, and they all get together in the lobby and sing songs with the piano. It was very lovely.

I had an in-person tour of Sonata Vero Beach. The girl was very knowledgeable. She was also the receptionist who gave us the tour. There were a lot of caregivers, so that was a positive. The negative was that it was a very dark place when you're on the inside. It didn't seem like people were being engaged as much. So even though they had people bringing them back and forth to lunches and their rooms, it kind of seemed everybody was not talking to each other. When we went, it was around the time of the meal, so everybody was sitting at their table. There weren't any group activities or groups together. It didn't seem as warm and friendly as the other place. The facility looked clean enough. The dining room was very open and looked nice enough. I saw they had a library and a pool. They did note that they offered transportation to doctor's appointments. My main concern there was that the director who was supposed to do the tour and they said would call us, never did. So my thought on that is if there was ever an issue with the patient, they're not going to care once they have your money. That's my perception from being a customer service all my life.

Horizon Bay Vero Beach was very nice but a little pricey. The food was pretty good and tasty. The staff was really great.

My mother-in-law lived at Horizon Bay for three years at first. It was a wonderful place for the right people, but as her dementia set in more, it just wasn't the right fit for her anymore. They had so much going on all the time, and it was wonderful for the person who can do that. Like I said, her dementia was getting more and more, so she needed a calmer atmosphere. She felt pressured at Horizon Bay. Like for Bingo, they close the door at one o' clock because they only got so much room, and by 11:30, she would be panicking to get her keep. And they actually played for money -- with dimes -- so it was constantly, "I need dimes," so I ended up buying $50 worth of dimes and put them under the seat of my car because I never knew when she insisted she needed dimes. It was just too stressful for her. There were too many residents for the number of staff, in my opinion. I found their cleanliness better; they had great housekeepers there.

The only place that I like was Horizon Bay in Vero Beach as it was very nice with nice surroundings, clean, and big. The price was not bad either. The apartments were nice, clean, and homey. They have bingo and crafts.

My mom is in Horizon Bay, and I am very happy with it. It is very person oriented. It is clean with lots of staff. She is very happy there. They have a good activities department. They have a van that goes out to churches. They also have day trips. It seems like it has a lot of activities, and I see a lot of residents sitting together playing cards or talking, and the grand piano at the lobby, they were playing that. I eat a couple lunches to with her, and she likes it. The food is pretty good. They seem to have a lot of staff.

Everything in Horizon Bay was very beautiful, but beyond our retirement income. If I had the means, I would probably go there.

Actually Horizon Bay called me. They have a central office in Brooksville, and I got a call from there. When one of my cousins showed up, we all went over there. It was pretty good, and it was pretty special. The rooms in the main building are pretty small, but I did like the cottages better. They put us in the private dining room.

Horizon Bay had a lot of good activities and interaction with the staff and the residents. The rooms were in really good size. They were like 500 square feet. The grounds were nice. The location was really good. It was close to town. We took a tour there and the staff was nice. They knew all the residents there, so it was a homey place. I sure would recommend them to others.

This facility is clean and pretty and looks to be very well maintained. The staff that we met was informative and caring. I didn't like the dining arrangement because I don't want to see my Mother-in-Law become reclusive which I think she would do with that type of meal service. The residents eat whenever they want instead of a scheduled meal time. Seems like that would be good for some but not in our case.

I like Horizon Bay Vero Beach very much. The whole place has a nice atmosphere. We like it. We looked at a cottage, and we also looked at some of the apartments.

The one that I went to was Horizon Bay. I like the place and I would like to be able to go there when the time comes but I'm in a wheelchair and I bathe with a bathtub and they don't have bathtubs. They only have showers and that's the thing that would interfere with me going there when I need to. Their units are very nice. I had Thanksgiving dinner in their dining room and it was very nice, the food was good. I would recommend them as long as they are capable of using a shower.

I had visited Horizon Bay and it was really good, but it's just not for me right now. I talked to one staff and he toured me to the basics of the facility. We looked at the recreational and dining area and it was beautiful. The whole place is beautiful.

My father was so pleased with the facility he did not want to visit any others. He will be moving in by 12/1/2013.

My dad is now in Horizon Bay Vero Beach and he is very happy and comfortable there. They take very good care of him and we are very pleased. Their personnel are very considerate and caring. They have great activities and they are getting my dad involved. I would recommend them to somebody else.

I highly recommend Horizon Bay. The only reason why we were looking about possibly switching him to other facility was because of the way they structured their pricing for extra services which was kind of an all or nothing, but they have changed that to more a la carte menu. So you only have to pay what you need and that made us happy. Dad has been there since August and he is absolutely thriving. He has got a lovely one bedroom apartment. It has a little kitchen area. They come in and do the housekeeping every week and they do the laundry. The whole place is clean. It smells clean. It doesn't smell like old homes. It's nice. The food is very good. They have gourmet foods and I had to tell him that he had to cut back a little bit. The place is just like one big family. Everybody knows everybody from the management right down from all of the residents. My father is having a good time there and he feels important, so that has been really good for him. I just think they need more aides on duties, but I know their working on re-staffing.

Horizon Bay is a great assisted living facility; one of the best! My grandmother loves it there. She's lived at various living facilities and this one is by far her favorite. The staff is kinda and is always willing to help and the building is kept very clean and well managed.

I visited Horizon Bay because my mother is in need of more care than I can provide. I was very please with what I saw. The director was superb. She was very visible and friendly. She knew all the residents by name. There is a doctor who comes in twice a week to see the residents. The dining hall is open basically all day. The staff is nice and polite and friendly. There was patio that the residents could go out and sit in. The grounds had very pretty gardens and nice walking paths. The facility is pet friendly.
