I have moved into The Oaks of Clearwater. It's a 15-story building, and I'm on the 6th floor. It's a nice place. The employees are pretty nice. I'm working to get my room straightened out; the original room that they told me I had when I got down here wasn't ready, so they had to put me in a different room. It's a studio, which is fine because it gives me more space. It's actually at least twice the size of what I just left. The other room is the 1-bedroom that I was supposed to get; I couldn't even get in the bathroom, it's too many corners and stuff. Right now, I'm having a problem with the air conditioning; it's too hot, so I'm just trying to get maintenance to repair it and see what's going on. The staff is pretty good, I like them. The food's pretty good. They give you a lot of choices. They got a dining area on each floor. It's just when you go up the upper floors, they don't offer as much variety compared down to the main floor. It used to be a hotel, that gives you an idea; It's pretty large. The people were good at waiting on you. It's just nice, good view everywhere. I haven't had time to do anything else. I'm just working on getting my room straightened up.

Please don't send your loved ones here. My loved one is alert and oriented and able to do most things by herself. She has some issues with speaking and getting her words out and short term memory from a stroke, but she understands everything. She was on seizure medications as a precautionary measure from her stroke. I went to see her and she had a seizure in front of me. Come to find out, they ran out of her seizure medication. They advertise that they check on your loved ones every 2 hours, which is a lie. I bought cameras to keep a closer eye on her after her first seizure.The only time someone came into her room was to give her medications twice a day and housekeeping to tidy up. Another time, I kept checking on her on the cameras because I was working overnight. I checked on her around 2 AM and she was on the floor. I called the front desk and nurses station and no one answered. I was about to call 911 myself but I had someone's cell number and they got through. They said someone must have been on the other line on a personal call and that's why they weren't picking up. They checked on her and literally debated whether to call 911. I had to come over the camera and tell them to call 911 now. They also say, they are able to track your loved one anywhere in the building if they are wearing their emergency necklace. We went to pick her up one day and couldn't find her. She wasn't in her room or in the dining room. We asked the desk and they said "Oh, wow it looks like she hit her emergency button an hour ago" Immediately, we are worried thinking she fell somewhere. We ask them where they have her located, and the person responds that she doesn't know how to use the tracking system. This started an hour long search for her through the entire 13 floors. They were about to call the police to file a missing persons report. Luckily, she was found and she hit it by accident. I would take her out for the day and ask for her medications in case we got back late. Half the time, they were out of her aspirin or cholesterol meds. They would say we have them ordered. I spoke with the head nurse multiple times to fix these issues. He said they are supposed to order the meds 2 weeks in advance which wasn't happening. She had another seizure because they ran out of her seizure medication. I watched on the camera after the face and she seized, fell into the dresser and hit her face. Her whole face is bloody and she crawls to the door for help. No one is to be found in the hallway. She then crawls and goes to sit in the chair. The housekeeping lady found her with her fall all bloody. Another time, her blood pressure had been running high and her dr. wanted it checked three times a week. I thought it would be no problem since they have a nurse on staff. I asked the nurse what her blood pressure was today and she told me 190's/80's. This is extremely high and she had already had a hemorrhagic stroke so I was concerned. I asked the RN to take her blood pressure again and she handed me the cuff and said you're a nurse, you can probably take it better than me. I took it and it was high again. I asked her if she can get an additional blood pressure med ordered because her Dr. didn't have any openings that day. She said "we don't call the on call doctors." I said I'm a nurse, and you are an assisted living...someone has to be on call. Sure enough, she called and got an additional dose of blood pressure meds. I called her on the phone on day, and she told me there were bugs in her room. I called maintenance and had them take a look and they said they didn't see anything. I go to investigate myself and her bed is covered in bed bugs. She most certainly did not come in with them. The maintenance guy said she got them from a lady down the hall that she would dine with occasionally. We had to throw out her mattress, couch, recliner and they still couldn't get rid of them. We basically had to throw out all of her items when we moved her out to get rid of them.

My mother is in The Oaks for almost a month now. The caretakers are all very kind and attentive. We are very pleased with the care that my mother gets. My mother has a shared room with two women, but she has her own bedroom with her own door. They take her on outings and activities, which she is very happy with. They have a deck because it is very near a water view. With supervision, she sits out on the deck.

I went to the Oaks but didn't like the atmosphere, and the people there were older than me. It was clean and well done, but the price was high, and I couldn't afford it. I didn't see that much.

I admitted my father at The Oaks of Clearwater for three weeks. I liked the facility. He was in an open, four-hospital-bed-type setting until his Medicaid kicked in. The room that he had on the memory care floor was very nice, though. Even if it was shared, it was separated off. All they shared was a little kitchenette and a bathroom. They had their own separate room, closet, and TV. One of the things I really liked was the activities that they had and the outside garden. They took them on a ferry once a month, went over to the beach, and had daily activities as well. The place was clean and the people were very friendly. It was very easy to get on the phone with my father.

I moved my mom at The Oaks of Clearwater. I chose this place because of the view. Literally when you walked into her apartment, all you see is water on both sides. When my mom wakes up in the morning, all she sees is the blue sky. Their rate also is one of the cheapest from all the places I’ve looked into. They have tons of activities with at least six activities.

I liked The Oaks of Clearwater a lot. However, it is high-rise living, so there aren't any porches or open windows. You're basically in a cement hole in the sky. I went back on a second occasion and looked at some of their villas. I was only able to see a one-bedroom that had not been refurbished, and it wasn't particularly inviting. Also, I wanted a two-bedroom. I have talked to the assistant to the executive director and she told me that the one that I saw had not been refurbished yet and that they always do that before move in. It needed some work or I couldn't possibly move in there. Overall, it's a very good place. The only person I met was the assistant to the executive director. She's very competent, has been there a while, and knew the answers to all of my questions. I did talk to one of their people in marketing for just a couple of minutes, and he did not seem to be a person I wanted to do business with. He just didn't seem to be prepared and know enough. They've got the usual facilities there, like a beauty parlor and a little exercise room.

I was looking for a place to put my mother after she had fallen and could not assist herself anymore so I came up on the Oaks of Clearwater and from the beginning the staff and management team were very very good to me and my mother. Not just because we were New but just because this is the way they are, 7 months later they are still caring loving helpful in every way possible and they go out of their way immediately if there is a concern of any kind whether it's from my mother or myself. I highly recommend the Oaks of Clearwater, it has surpassed all my expectations and it continues to do so from the highest level of Managment down to the kitchen staff they truly care about the work place and the people that live there whether it be assisted living nursing home care or any other specialty that they offer, a great place for someone to call home for the rest of their lives.

My mother-in-law chose The Oaks of Clearwater because it is near Clearwater Beach. She is very happy there. She likes it very much. They have independent living, assisted living, and memory care. My mother-in-law has been there for less than a month, but so far, we are happy with it. They have activities. They offer three meals a day. She is in the independent living, so she has her own apartment and it is very nice. She enjoys the food. It is diverse; it is not always the same thing. It is different things and things that she likes, so she is very happy with the food. Overall, my mother-in-law is very happy with the food, the facility, and the staff.

My mom was at The Oaks of Clearwater. It was good. The lady that took us in was very nice. They had quite a number of stories, and they only had two elevators, but during that time only one of them was working.

This is a 5 star review for the staff on the 2nd floor. Thank you for taking wonderful care of my Dad in his last few months of life. These caregivers are compassionate, caring, and professional. The took care of my Dad like family. I watch them also with the other residents and all I see is a true commitment in making all the patients happy and comfortable. There are no words to express my sincere thanks and gratitude for the great work you do. May God bless you all and thank you.

My wife is staying at The Oaks, and she hasn't been there long enough. She is in a ward with three other ladies. She was familiar with the area, and so far they prove to be very satisfactory. I'm satisfied with them.

I like the inside design of The Oaks of Clearwater. The view from the window is on the water. I like the activities that are available. They have Bingo, music, painting, and art classes.

The Oaks of Clearwater was a high rise. We were very impressed with this one. It was very nice, very clean, and I couldn't find anything that was wrong with it. We did have a meal there, and it was very good.

My aunts lived in The Oaks of Clearwater. When we signed up, their marketing people were superb, but the staff that actually worked there was awful. The food was fine. They had variety and an attentive staff. The room was nice and spacious. It had a nice view out to the bay. They had most activities I had seen in other place. The Oaks of Clearwater was more secure, but that's fine; it was quite appropriate.

The Oaks at Clearwater was the only place we can afford at that time. They were working with us and waiting for us to get my parents qualified for a Medicaid waiver. My parents have been there for a little over two years now. On the whole, I would give them 6 out of 10. Their menu is too highly salted for seniors. Not too long after my mother moved in there, she went into congestive heart failure, which she had not had any problems with at other times. The doctor took it back to her eating the food, mainly their soups, at that facility. So, she no longer eats any of the soups and has had no further problems with it. Their food is fairly good, but they had a major turnover in both the dining-kitchen area and management in the last two years. There is probably not a whole lot of people still there that were there when they first moved in. Their care is fairly good. We haven't really had any problems with the staff. They might be a little slow in getting things done, but I think they are actually a little overworked, so they are not be able to put as much attention on the job as they normally would and I feel that they are a bit understaffed. The facility itself is kept up pretty much. It has a nice view. They are by the water, so you can see the view. My parents really enjoy that, especially my father. They are in a one-bedroom, one bath apartment. It's well-kept, but not a lot storage. It is just barely adequate for a couple, but they are okay. But the drawback of the facility is that they only have two elevators. For their size, the number of residents that they have, and the size of some of the wheelchairs, walkers, and stuff, those two elevators are not adequate. My parents are not really happy there, mainly for that reason. There are some pros to the facility, but we are finding more cons lately.

The impressive thing about The Oaks is the location, they were right by the water there, it's pretty nice. The only bad thing about that place that I know of, they only have two elevators there. I believe that's a 15-floor building or 16 floors and there are only 2 elevators that operate up and down in that building. If one goes down, you're in trouble. And at lunch time, you have these people who are on wheelchairs, walkers and scooters and they all try to get in and it's irritating because you wait for the elevator. Sometime, I'm sitting there waiting for the elevator to get to me for about 20 minutes. I'm not exaggerating, I'm telling you. You're talking about these people, they're pretty old, they can't move fast or run downstairs and they have to wait for these elevators. They only have one large elevator, the other one is a small one. They do have a third elevator which is in the cafeteria downstairs but it goes up to the second floor only. They'll serve you steak but you have to buy it separately. On the 15th floor, they dine and if you want a steak, you have to pay extra for a steak so the food there is not all that as well. If you want to make a long distance phone call, you have to pay for it as well and the money that I'm paying for that place, I pay $2000 a month, is not worth it. The only thing that that building's got going for itself is where it's at. I'm going to get ready to pull my father out of there. I'm not so happy with it and I notice other people that have moved in and moved out because you have no contract there. You move in, you deposit $1500 non-refundable and then you pay $2000 a month and then every year they go up. Other than that, the location is nice, the building is nice. The staff did pretty cool. I had no run-ins with the staff so far.

We visited The Oaks of Clearwater earlier this week. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. One thing we noticed was every resident who we ran into said hello to us and asked if we were looking to move someone in. If so, they will love it. I was surprised at the question and the comment. At other places we looked at the residents looked down, didnt seem happy and basically ignored what we going on around them. Not what I am looking for. We are having a family meeting on Labor Day to make our decision but Oaks of Clearwater has my vote hand down. If you are facing the same decision we are, I suggest you take a look for yourself.

I removed my mother from this facility in the spring and am very happy with her new home. What a difference the right staff can make in geriatric care. The aids and nursing staff were rude and the management does not respond to complaints. There are only 2 elevators for 13 floors worth of residents and I could not walk up and down the stairs. I had to wait for up to 10 minutes for an elevator. I could not figure out what would happen if they had a true evacuation type emergency. My Mom liked the food and wait staff in the dining room. I could tell when they had not given my Mom her medicine and often questioned the dosing times. They would leave her in her wheelchair for long periods of time.

My father in law was on the rehab floor for 9 months after a broken hip and loved it. The therapy was great and very prompt. The nursing staff was very loving and respectful towards everyone and the food was amazing!

The staff was pleasant at the Oaks. However, the facility was older-looking and it wasn't clean. It may have been but it didn't look like it because the carpeting and the like were old. My mother was not pleased with that. The dining area was okay but we didn't eat there. They need to update their waiting or lobby area, hallways and their carpeting.

We were looking for an independent living facility for my parents. The Oaks was fine. It's a clean place but not that immaculate. The Oaks was more of an assisted living type. The model room they showed us was small. We were looking for more of a kitchen and more of an apartment. There was a refrigerator and a microwave but no kitchen. Everybody who worked there was very, very nice.

Our visit to The Oaks was pleasant. The people are nice and the atmosphere was fairly good. We did not have any meals there because my husband wanted to leave. The rooms upstairs were nicely accommodated, but they were very small. But the view was absolutely terrific, looking out the bay waters. They don't have a pool, they need to put a pool in somewhere. They only have a small exercise room with two pieces of equipment.

It's a very sociable place. My mother had a sister in-law who lives there before so she is fully familiar with the facility. The entire facility is of high standards. The environment is clean and the food is good. It has good organization and activities for the residents. They take them on a short day trips. They provide transportation if the residents need to see their doctors. What's also good is that the monthly fees are very reasonable. Their dining room is very well maintained and well furnished. My mother is 92 years old and is still refusing the idea of going to an assisted living facility for now. She likes The Oaks and when she's ready, this is gonna be the place for her.

This facility was supposed to help my Aunt in regards to her well being and ability to get around without the fear of losing track of where she was, falling over, becoming a danger to herself and forgetting to take her medications. During her stay there she was found to be unconscious in her living quarters on several occasions. At one point in time I actually received a call from one of the attendants saying that she had been wandering off into the property at nighttime. On the last incident she was found to need treatment in a hospital after having fallen off of her couch one evening. A fellow resident and neighbor there called me to inform me that my Aunt had been hospitalized and that the police had come in to remove her. While there they found approximately 50 bottles of unused medications that had been prescribed to her. At that point I insisted that there be a DEA investigation or some type of malpractice investigation, but to no avail. I was repeatedly ignored until her son and I decided to have her moved elsewhere. Ultimately this is the worst assisted living facility I have had the displeasure of being acquainted with. I would never suggest anyone consider placing their loved one with them.

It was clean, which is a very important quality, and everyone inside seemed well cared for with plenty of staff and workers to tend to the patients. There was no unpleasant smell, in comparison to some other homes i have visited, and this was a welcome change. The Dietary needs of the patients were taken into consideration, and a record of each patient's dietary restrictions and preferences was compiled on a computer. Very efficient, clean and well run organization which cared for its residents and their home. Polite and intelligent staff members.
