We toured Brookdale Highlands. It was good. I thought that the rooms were a little small. Other than that, it was very nice. They had everything that my neighbors would need. They had some very nice sitting areas and things like that outside. There was a little pond. There was a little gazebo, where you could walk out to see the pond. There was a balcony area with some seating that looked out over the pond. The staff were very friendly and very nice.

Brookdale Highlands was new and it looked clean. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They had some options for a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom apartment. I think I prefer the two-bedroom apartment because the bedroom and the living room are separate. There was also a table and a kitchenette with a sink and a microwave. Although they do offer three meals a day, I can make something in my apartment if I want to. And I like that the living room is in another area. The transportation to the doctors' appointments would be included. They had an area that you could go out, a walkway out to the lake, and a little covered area if you wanted to go sit outside. The dining area looked good. There were four people at a table, and they could move you to another table if you don't like the people you're sitting with.

We are moving my dad to Brookdale Highlands as soon as he's out of rehab. I found them to be very pleasant and helpful. The facility is clean and lovely. All of the staff members and the residents are very personable, and outgoing and made us feel very welcome. We chose a Deluxe studio and it's got lovely wood floors, large windows, and high ceilings. It had good closet space. The bathroom was phenomenal. It had a walk-in shower and plenty of space. We've arranged his room and he's very pleased with it. We think it's a very good fit. I checked their menus and it's certainly diverse. They have an activity center and they have scheduled a wide array of activities. They also take the residents to restaurants, casinos, shopping, or seeing holiday sites. They have a gazebo located near the lake, and I think dad would love to go fishing there. They have lots of screened porches. This facility is very conducive to an active but secure lifestyle.

I was impressed with Brookdale Highlands and I would feel very comfortable having my parents live there. The facility was very nice, although it did not have much of an outdoor area for residents walk around. They did have a couple of screened-in porches which I thought were very nice. The rooms were adequate and they had daily activities that seemed appropriate. When you walked in, there was a nice little living area with a little bar, and they have a little social activity there each afternoon. They also have a lovely dining facility. The salesperson I dealt with was very accommodating and really seemed to want to understand what my parent's needs were.

Brookdale Highlands was nice. The staff was very friendly. It was well appointed, had a lot of activities, and allowed dogs. Everyone was very accommodating, nice, and knowledgeable. When I called, they called right back.

I love the way the staff interacts with the residents there at Brookdale Highlands (formerly Southland Suites-Lakeland), and that was what sold me. My loved one's got a nice, big room all to herself and her own bathroom. They're doing some remodeling, and she got one of the rooms that were just finished. They have activities and entertainment that they take them over to. She has done a few things and has enjoyed herself, but she's not a great joiner. It is an older building, and they have one maintenance man.

My aunt has been placed at Brookdale Highlands. We visited, and it was very clean and very well run.

My wife is at Brookdale Highlands. We looked at several others in the area, and they provided what we felt was the best facility. It is clean and attractive. The people there seem alive and take part in activities. My wife is in an efficiency apartment that is nice and bright with a nice view. She likes it, and we like it too. She eats and is happy with the food, which I think tastes fine. The dining area is attractive, well maintained, and clean. They have exercise and entertainment and good social activities.

We're very impressed with Brookdale Highlands (Formerly Southland Suites - Lakeland). It's excellent. The people are caring, and the residents all seem alert and enjoying themselves. We like the layout and the cleanliness. Everything looks fresh and new. We joined them for lunch, and they served nutritious meals. We just like everything about it. It was the best fit for our parents. We're moving them in on the 1st of October. I would recommend them. They should have a happy hour every night though instead of just Friday.

Brookdale Highlands was a very well-run place with a staff that is very cordial and welcoming. We were disappointed that they didn’t have vehicle services to local entertainment. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed. They had movies and games.

I visited Brookdale Highlands for my mother-in-law. The place was great. The person that toured me was great. The dining room was nice, clean, and very well-appointed. The rooms/apartments were very nice. They were very well set up and clean. They would have been perfect.

We went to Brookdale. It was very nice. We would have put my neighbor in there, but they didn't have a dementia ward. The staff said that they were renovating the place, and they didn't have a dementia ward right now, but he recommended another facility.
Brookdale seemed very nice. They were renovating it because it needed renovation badly. However, the room was very nice.

Southland Suites - Lakeland was very nice. The apartments were very nice, but when I first went there two years ago, my mom did not want to go into a one-room, studio type apartment, which is all she could afford, and that is why she did not go there. I just remember that it was very nice, and I liked it. They did not have a pool, but they had a nice exercise gym. If the rooms had been larger or if there had been a living room and a bedroom area, then they would be a five because I would have put my mom in there.

Southland is very nice; we liked that one. It was nice and clean with good rooms. The lady that I talked to was very knowledgeable and gave me all the information that I needed. They had several activities. They had TV rooms, they had people that would come in that would give them different amusements, and they have a gym room. They have a monthly calendar of activities. The menus that we saw seemed very good. I would absolutely recommend this place to others.

My brother is in Southland Suites. I like it, and my brother is getting used to it. The staff was very good. I tasted the food; it is in a balanced diet, and it is good for my brother because he is diabetic and there are some things that he cannot eat. Right now he is staying there as respite until a bigger room becomes available. They have different choices of rooms.

Southland Suites was really nice. It was very clean, bright, and cheerful. They had very kind and generous people. They were very concerned about the residents. Their director used to be the director where my mother-in-law had stayed, and she's good. They had pretty good activities.

Southland Suites is a little more upscale, a little fancier facility. It was a very pleasant place. The lady that showed us around and the various people that we met were very friendly. Everybody was very pleasant and seemed to like the place. We toured the apartments and looked at the rooms and they were very nice.

Brookdale Senior Living is a brand new facility. It just opened last month. They built a special wing for dementia care. They are very good. They have a staff that's dedicated to activities and nursing just to help people with dementia, or people who are still somewhat functionable and can relate to each other and do things together. My mother is 92 and that's what she needs. So this is not necessarily for people with Alzheimer's.

My grandmother lived at this facility for several years. Moving in was difficult but the staff was courteous and helpful. She enjoyed the facility and had no complaints about the staff but had difficulty with the people she lived near. Several guests were regularly rude to her and we, as her family, had some difficulty resolving this issue. Granted this is not exactly the staff's immediate responsibility to mediate these conflicts, but we finally were able to resolve the issue. As her health declined our visits became more frequent. The facility is well set up for visitors and as the family member of a resident we had no complaints logistically. It was a tough time for us all and the staff did as much as they could to make the entire situation easier and less stressful. We eventually moved her out when she needed more intensive care. I would happily recommend the facility to family or friends in need of assisted living service.
