My friend moved into the Fabulous Resort Assisted Living, and he was there for about a month. I give them a very high recommendation. It is a very small facility, and they only take five or six people. They were all men, which was much better for him. He adapted better there. We had tried another community that had women, and they had all women aides. He did not get along very well there, but at the Fabulous, he did well. Alex, the man who runs it, is excellent with people and has a very good rapport with the patients. He is very understanding and compassionate. It is an excellent place. The place is pretty simple. They have a nice dining room, and a nice living area with a TV. The bedrooms are a little small, but they have closets, it is adequate for them, and the bathrooms were fine. They also have a nice, screened-in lanai, so they can be outside. The yard is all fenced in, so it feels very secure, and it is in a nice neighborhood. The location is fine, very residential. It is just average kind of housing, nothing fancy. For me it was a little far to go, but I did not mind going because he was in a good place. I think the food was pretty good, but I did not experience it. I was not there during mealtimes, but they seem to have a pretty good selection and they kind of adapted. I was able to bring my friend some of his favorite food, and they served it when I brought it in. They were very accommodating. It was always very neat and clean when I went there, and comfortable. He was really not participating much when he was there, as he was at a stage in his dementia when he could not do a lot, but it seemed to me like the other people were doing a lot of things. Alex would go out and buy them different games and things like art that they could do. They always looked like they were busy doing things, so I am thinking he had a pretty good supply of activities.
