We toured Palagio Senior Living and we were impressed with it, but we weren't impressed with the price. I've met the staff and I've seen everything there, they were very informative. They educated me about the care in need and further assisted me in case I didn't choose them, that I'd consider other places. So they just didn't concentrate on themselves. They have a kitchen, and a gym, and what they have for a 92-year-old was good enough for us. The cleanliness of the place is excellent. The room that I saw was clean and it was the right size for a single elderly person, and everything was within reach, so I can't complain about it. It's located near restaurants, the hospital, everything was right there.

I visited Palagio for Seniors at Orange Park. I loved it. It was really nice. Their staff seemed attentive, and the residents looked like they were cared for. The facility itself was really nice, and the staff was nice. They had several dining areas, and it's clean. The residents can eat whenever they want, if they miss a meal. The staff was nice. I did talk to a few of their staff, but not the people caring for the residents. The person who gave me the tour was the marketing person. So far, they seemed like they were on point. For their respite care, they only allow a minimum of 14 days; that deters me. If they could have shorter respite care time frame (like weekends) that would be great.

I toured Palagio Senior Living for a loved one. It was beautiful. It's new and very clean. The staff that I saw was very friendly. It was just a gorgeous place. It was very nice, and I liked it. They have a lot of amenities like a coffee bar. They're putting in an ice cream parlor and have a putting range outside. They have a lounge and a tasting room. It was a very nice set up. There was a group sitting in the tasting room. They were making brownies and tasting brownies. I saw the menu, and they offer all day dining, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Palagio Senior Living was excellent. They were still working on a few things, and they're putting in an ice-cream shop. They had a sundry shop, and the residents took a vote and decided that it should be an ice-cream shop. It was kind of cool that they listen to their residents like that. Everything was clean and neat. The people were friendly. A couple of staff members came from other places, they've all been there since the day it opened, and nobody has left. I think that shows some good consistency. It has to be a decent place when people don't move on. It wasn't quite as good as the other place because they only had three room plans, but they were nice rooms. They had full-size refrigerators, whereas the other one just had small refrigerators. The staff was super nice. You can tell they are doing their best to make everybody feel like one big family, so it's sort of homey. They are doing the best they can to make everybody feel comfortable there.

I've chosen Palagio Senior Living for my father. It's very clean and run very professionally. The rooms were exactly what we thought was the best value for the price. We like the layouts, the view from the window that he has, the other amenities that were close to him, and the fact that rehab was on the same floor down the hall. They have nice gathering areas, a movie-theater type thing for seniors if they want to watch movies, and a courtyard where they can get out into the sun. In addition, it's all accessible with no steps anywhere in the facility. Depending on what level he needs -- if he needs daily care or hourly care, shower care, dressing care, or those kinds of things -- those are things they would add on price-wise. Because he's not a threat to himself or a threat to leave the building, he's not in the memory care area where they have preventative measures so people can't wander off. The staff is very professional, very helpful, accommodating, and willing to work as I discuss things with them. I'm spending his money so I needed them to be competitive, and they were willing to negotiate on some pricing that I was able to lock in for a couple of years. That's important so I can form a budget. On the nursing side, they're first class. The director of nursing got all the information from the rehab center, although it was misleading information as we found out when he got here. But she worked back and forth with them to make sure that the level of care is ready for him, which was supposed to be today. But because the rehab shipped him here with a seriously infected wound on his foot, he's in the hospital going back to rehab. So it'll be a couple of weeks before they can get him into the new apartment, but they've been accommodating on that as well. It's brand new, it's less than a year old, and the layout is terrific. It's very easily accessible for people with walkers or electric wheelchairs. So far, we like what we're seeing. There were others we've visited but for the price, they weren't competitive. I've been to the facility five times now and walked around, and they've showed me the rooms on all five occasions.
