My parents have moved into Brookdale Mandarin. The price was better than the other places. They have the same comparable activities. They have a very small swimming pool, but it's very nice. They have very nice people there. Everybody is super friendly. The determining factor was that it had a stove; it had a full kitchen. My mom hasn't cooked since she moved in, but she would not move in to anywhere without an oven. It has a refrigerator, a sink, and a three-burner stove with an oven. She could bake cookies or turkey if she wants to. They have small courtyards, and there's a pond in the back and a walking path. Some of the apartments have their own private patio. My mother has a screened-in balcony. Not all of them do, but some of them are available. They have one and two bedrooms. All of them are remodeled before they come in. They have a beauty salon in the building, and they have it once a week for those services. They go down and eat. The chefs are in transition, so the meals are not consistent. But they do get plenty to eat. They don't like some of the food, but everybody has different tastes. In terms of activities, they take them out to plays and restaurants. They bring in Elvis impersonators, and they have games of all kinds. They have plenty of activities to keep them busy forever.

I like being here at Brookdale Mandarin. Everybody is very friendly and open. We have little group meetings where we get together and talk about anything and everything. Management is very good. Everybody's very supportive and loving. I got good friends here and I love it. We also have a pool, we do crafts, happy hours, a group that sings to us, and all kinds of stuff we can do. It's a nice place.

I'm staying at Brookdale Mandarin. I get some assistance, but I'm not an invalid. I can still move around. It's been great, the people here are so kind and gracious. The staff are also good. The food is good. I wish I could eat all that I wanted, I just don't eat that much. The activities are kind of bad right now with COVID, but I have no complaints. I'm getting what I paid for.

I visited my sister at Brookdale Mandarin. I think it's an excellent facility. I have no complaints about it at all. They've done a tremendous job with the Covid, and they do a tremendous job in getting the residents active. They're very open and very friendly. They know the residents, and they're speaking to them with their names. They always have enough time for somebody. She has a studio, and there is a dividing line, so you can feel as if you're sitting in a living space apart from the bedroom space. It's got a huge window, and she happens to be in the front, so she looks out on trees and she can see cars going by. They also have a small kitchen, but it's large enough that I was able to put in bistro tables, so she can sit and if she wants to eat there or she can do her crafts on the table, and she still gets to see the TV and everything. They're tremendous. I've never really eaten there, but there's no complaint.

I didn't like Brookdale Mandarin because it was a high-rise, and you had to take elevators to go anywhere. Nobody looked happy there. The residents looked miserable. The apartments were nice, but it wasn't laid out for seniors. It was laid out for condos, and trying to get a wheelchair in an elevator would be very cumbersome. There were no single level areas. If you have a family member that's wheelchair bound, it's not conducive for that. The lady who gave us the tour was very nice.

The resident care associates and activity staff at Brookdale Mandarin are excellent. They're very caring and keep on top of things. Mom is in independent living. They have various music groups come through, and you can sign up to take a ride out to have lunch or go on outings. They have movie nights, Wii bowling, cheese and wine, bingo, and several exercise programs. My mom participates in their Spanish lessons. Right now, they just finished some major remodeling so the residency is kind of low, but when they have full occupancy, the dining room service can get very slow, and that gets frustrating. The rates go up every year quite a bit more than what inflation suggests that they should. It's usually double-inflation and I feel like we're paying an awful lot. The increase every year seems a little much.

My mother is at Brookdale Mandarin and has a full kitchen. The staff is very nice, and she likes it there. The building is older, and they are remodeling now. It's very convenient for me. They have a lot of musical guests who perform for them. She does that, but she doesn't do many activities. The food is very good. They offer three meals a day.

I toured Brookdale; it was more than 1 story, and more like apartment living. The rooms were comparable with the others, and there were no patios. My mother-in law wasn't interested in that at all.

I liked the layout of Brookdale Mandarin really well, but it was not very scenic around it. It was neat and clean, and the lady who was there was a really interesting person. But I did not see any surroundings if you wanted to go outside, and that was the only thing that I didn’t like about it. The room that we saw was really neat and clean. The lady who showed us around was very knowledgeable and seemed to be on top of everything. I liked the layout or the setup they had of where you would live the best. I didn’t like the outside because it had nothing to attract you.

Brookdale Mandarin is an amazing property, and the people are outstanding. I would have loved for Mother to move in there. It’s a four-story building that was very clean and had a lot of activities for the residents. They remodel the rooms as the people move out. My contact Tiffany, whom I worked with, was amazing.

Our overall experience with Brookdale Mandarin was very positive. They had a lot of options as far as the different rooms that were available. They had just about everything we wanted, and the people were very nice. We had lunch there, and the food was good. The dining room was very nice. They could've used another dining area, like a sandwich place, because they only had the one dining room.

My mother was very well loved and very well taken care of in Brookdale Mandarin. The food was better; the facility was clean. She had her own little apartment. The only downside with that facility is that they had two scheduled times for their dinner and lunch. There were two elevators there and three floors with different wings. One elevator was the service elevator and the other elevator was for people to come and go. My mom was on the second dinner hour, and sometimes, you had to wait two or three times before you finally got down or up the crowded elevator..

My dad is in Brookdale, and it’s absolutely wonderful. There’s a lot of loving and caring staff, and they understand the nature of my dad’s needs. They are working with him very well, and interact with the clients and residents very well. I am extremely comfortable with leaving him there, and I am very pleased and thankful that assisted living communities exist. Brookdale was the best choice.

Brookdale Mandarin is where my father is right now. The staff is kind, courteous, and helpful. The dining area is homey. The rooms are smaller, though.

The care staff is fine, but I am very dissatisfied with the office staff. The room -- although it is small -- is enough for what my father needs, and it is fine. I guess they give him his meds on time, so they give proper respect in that respect, but I am not a hundred percent satisfied at all. What they can improve on is their office procedure and their billing -- anything administrative or office related. Right now, it is a total mess with the transition, and it is very frustrating.

My mom actually stayed here only for a day. It just so happened that they had a bed available, so it was convenient at that time. The facility was nice, it was like a hotel actually. The residents all seemed to appreciate what they have and where they live.

The staff were very good. I would recommend them to someone else because they were very nice and the facility was clean. Their rooms were very small and furniture were old but you could bring in furniture. They had a party going when we visited and they were all together: the regular people and the ones with extreme cases.
