We chose Canterbury Arms Assisted Living for mom because I liked what I saw when I visited the place. It is clean and safe. She has a bedroom with a chair, dresser, and a closet, which is all she needs. The staff is awesome. From the owner down to those that are running it and are there daily, they all do a great job.
The food is excellent. They serve soups and full meals, like potatoes, vegetables, and meat. Their regular dinner is like what you would cook at home for your family, but this one's better than what you get in other assisted living places. They also have entertainment coming in. There are two living room areas where they go to watch TV and mingle with other residents.

My wife moved into Canterbury Arms Assisted Living. I toured it and felt it was the best place for my wife at the time. It worked out, and I was glad. They are caring people and go out of their way to help my wife and the others there. The food is good. They have games they can play. They have a TV. They mostly have individual rooms and a few that aren't. My wife has her own bath. They have people that come and visit, like a podiatrist. They have a doctor and a nurse that come in, like once a week. They also have musicians that come in twice a week and sing songs. At first, I thought the price might be a little bit high, but they take such good care of my wife and the others there.

I really liked Canterbury Arms Assisted Living. I liked the director. The staff was very pleasant. The place smelled clean, it looked clean, and they had plenty of activities for my father-in-law to do, so if he went there, I really thought it would have been a good fit for him. He would have been in a memory care unit and it was well organized. Everything was within walking distance because they had like their apartments, but it all was around like the central activity part, like where they go and eat dinner. All of it would have been great for him because, like I said, everything was within walking distance. It wasn't like he wouldn't have been able to still function because he was in the beginning stages of dementia, but he still can get around. They had a lot of activities for them to do, and plus they had a van that came and picked them up twice a week, and took them out so they could go shopping and to movies. It was beautiful. I liked the whole landscape and the fact that you can choose to have the rooms on the site where you can see the pond, or he could have been inside and he would have a view of the courtyard. They had it set up really well.
