It was a difficult decision for me, but my family member wanted to live in an ALF. This ALF is updating their facility. Staff is caring, attentive and respectful to the residents. If needed, staff assists with grooming and bathing. Daily, they eat 3 full meals, in the dining room and receive 2 snacks. All medicines are dispensed per physician's instructions. Rooms are cleaned and laundry is done a couple times per week.
Various daily activities are held throughout the facility. Special events are also celebrated.

Sunny Hills ALF Of Homestead is a little bit older place. It hasn't been updated lately. The dining looked pleasant enough. They post the menu, and it looked appetizing. The residents were active and moving about. I met two employees that were very informative and helpful. The rooms are not furnished, but they have three call buttons attached in the rooms: One is in the bathroom, one by the headboard where the bed would go, and then one where you might have a recliner chair so that that was good.
There was a calendar of activities. It seems like a lot of things going on that are available. There were people in the rooms. I was able to go in and meet residents and see their rooms and how they had been decorated. I asked one gentleman how he liked it there, and he was pleasant and he said he liked it. One thing I didn't like was that the doors are not automatic. If a person is in a walker that wheels (they have to push their walker), they're not going to be able to open the doors to go outside. They have to get someone to come and pull the doors open for them. So I would have preferred to see automatic doors leading to the courtyard. It's an interior door, so it wouldn't take them to the parking lot, but it's into the outdoors where they could go into the courtyard and walk around. But none of the doors there are automatic.
They have a beauty salon. I didn't see a chapel, but they do have Bible studies twice a week. Also, they don't have Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the common area. The rooms are not furnished. They don't have televisions and they don't include the cost of cable television with the monthly fee, and that would be an additional cost. Also, it's in a high-crime area.

I'm living in Sunny Hills ALF of Homestead now. A segment of their staff is outstanding in what they do. It's comfortable and the thing I probably like best is some of the staff members are outstanding in giving your care. A portion of them leave a lot to be desired. The food tastes like leftovers; that's the best thing I can say about it. Activities wise, it's a two-pronged story because before COVID, it was one way, and then when we were in lockdown, it became another situation. They have singalongs, bingo, games, board games, and seminars. They're very active in that respect. I couldn't complain about that aspect of it. It's all ground level and easy to access. They seem to address everybody's needs. They do a good job of keeping it clean. They just raised our rent, and I don't see the justification for it.

They're very nice and very caring at Sunny Hills ALF of Homestead. Mom enjoys the food and all the activities. They're easy to deal with. The nurses and the aides are very nice and help a lot. I found this place to be very good. They're all private rooms and they are big. You can bring your own furniture, you get your own telephone and cable, and it has double closets and a nice bathroom. They have a library and they use their dining hall for exercise classes, they have bingo every day, groups that come in and sing and play piano, they have word searches, cooking classes, and they also take them on outings. They had a senior prom in June, which was really nice. The staff has been very helpful and cooperative.

Sunny Hills ALF of Homestead was clean, very nice, and very organized. I was impressed by it. The pricing was a lot cheaper than most of the facilities. They had very large rooms and they had their own private room. The room was big enough that you could have not only a bed, but you could have a little stove and a little dining room table and a microwave in there. It had a pretty big closet wth a lot of organization in the closet. They also had a lot of games the residents can play throughout the day.

Sunny Hills ALF of Homestead was very nice. It was very well-priced, and I found it very attractive. However, it was too way out, and I felt it didn’t have enough staff. You get what you pay for, and it was pleasant, pretty, well-priced, and very nice people.

Sunny Hills was very good. The staff was nice and friendly. The rooms were OK and semi-private but comfortable. They had different activities, religious services, and more.

The people were very friendly at Sunny Hills, but if you have Alzheimer's, they do absolutely nothing for you. The staff were helpful, but they don't accommodate enough activities. The dining room and the food were good. They had sing-alongs where you can sing and dance. They just need a little bit more activities for the Alzheimer's patients.

My grandmother recently came to stay here. It was a tough adjustment for her, she'd been on her own for a long time. The staff seemed very nice, the place was well kept and there seemed to be a lot of activities scheduled (not that I saw any of them taking place on my visits). We hope on our next visit was can take Grandma on one of the outings to Fruit & Spice Park. I wish the staff were a little better about encouraging that from her. Hopefully, after going with us once she will be more likely to use those opportunities than she has been so far. Maybe she did just watch the Price is Right all day before, but we hope she'll do more at Sunny Hills. Grandma likes some of the staff members more than others. I think she's just not used to having some decisions made for her. She mostly complains about the food (Grandma always was a salt fiend). I'm glad she's somewhere where they're making sure she's eating well, taking her medication and if she hurts herself (again) she'll get prompt care.
